We've resorted to flat out bribery to get our toddler to stay asleep at night. If he goes the whole night without getting out of bed he gets a cookie. He has slept through the night the last FOUR nights. He hasn't slept through the night since we moved him into his toddler bed about 2 months ago. I have no interest in disrupting the trend, but would like to find "healthier" cookie recipes. Maybe breakfast bars that I could pass off as a cookie? Other ideas welcomed.
If you have any great cookie, breakfast bar, or bribery food recipes, please share here. Thanks!!!
Maybe something like this, and you could omit the nuts or replace with something else if your DS can't have them. Good luck with the bribery! I've gotten desperate and used Hersheys kisses before, but I like the idea of a healthy alternative.
I like to make magic bars and key my son roll the Graham crackers in a ziplock with a rolling pin, so he participates.he also likes putting flour on sugar cookies and maybe even cutting one or two out, I've been buying the toll house pre rolled dough.

Easy ways to up the healthiness of a cookie is to ditch the all-purpose flour for whole wheat. I also like using coconut flour (DH is allergic to gluten), but it is really high in fibre, so I usually split the flour ratio 1/2 coconut and 1/2 other. Also, you can usually reduce the sugar by at least 1/3 and the recipe will still work and taste good. You can look into recipes that use applesauce or banana mash instead of sugar as well (though I find those cookies tend to be drier and I like a chewy cookie).
This isn't a cookie suggestion but a healthy one. My sil started have a "bed time fairy" visit my nephew when we was around 3 because he wouldn't go to sleep. The deal is if he goes to bed at bedtime and stays there the next night she will bring him a goody. It could be a sticker, a small toy, a quarter (this kid LOVES money!), and sometimes it is a piece of candy. They just go to the dollar store and pick up little silly things. But he thinks it's so cool and it has worked wonders!

heidih21 I'll have to see if that would work. He still takes forever to go to bed. I'm getting a little anxious because DH leaves for China soon and I don't know how I'll handle the witching hour and this stupid bedtime routine.
