Well it was confirmed at the allergist yesterday. Evie has a peanut allergy. The Pediatrician had us try just a tiny bit to taste a few months back and it seemed like she had some small hives on her face. There is only one allergist in all of vt and it takes forever to get in for an appt. I was in complete shock picking up her epi pen prescription. I don't even know where to start. Throwing out all the peanut butter and researching like crazy.
LO has a mild soy allergy, but they think she will likely outgrow it.
She also just had a major reaction to fire ants, we are supposed to talk to her pedi about it but are likely headed to the allergist soon as well for bugs...
I'm sorry. I know how scary that can be. I've had a ton of kids with food allergies at school over the years and have never had to use an Epi-pen. I like the kids with food allergies website. Reading labels and making sure you always have an epi-pen with your LO at all times are the most important things right now.
My toddler has a peanut allergy. It's pretty easy to keep her away from them so far. I'm sure I'll be nervous about it when she starts school though. We avoid Asian food because a lot of the dishes have nuts in them. (She ended up being allergic to most tree nuts too). Are they going to do a peanut challenge? jewel441 She had a mild soy allergy too but grew out of it. Hopefully your LO will too!

All public schools in my province are nut free because of allergies.
In dd1's class there is a girl allergic to milk, soy, beef and lamb. She eats in their classroom with one special needs student, his EA and the "superstar" of the day. All the rest of the class eats with the other kindergartens in their rooms.
We got a prescription for the epi pen as well. She said to argue with them to get the generic. And will make an appt to see the allergist.
If you can't get the generic, there is a coupon to cover the cost up to $300. My portion was supposed to be $180, but I was able to use the coupon and pay $0.

I ended up getting the generic... I had the coupon JIC... I'm not sure it would have been any different with our insurance but it ended up being just $40. I had looked online before and it said the same thing for the non generic...
