kleigh I hope your throat feels better today, and if not that you can get seen right away.
My stupid shoulder is still hurting this morning. I want to take ibuprofen but I won't because I have my first Orangetheory class at 10:30. I'll just let the instructor know about it and do my best not to hurt it more.
My nanny is leaving after DS goes down for his nap today. She's been half assing it all week and I'm a little annoyed. She took DS to her apartment the past two days so she could clean because she has friends coming this weekend. I don't mind that too much because he loves going there and playing with her cats, but it kind of feels like she is using a lot of the hours I am paying her to do personal stuff. She has also been showing up late and finding ways to shorten his bedtime to leave early.
I should probably talk to her about it but right now I really don't feel I have the energy. I wish she'd just do her job and then I wouldn't have to say anything.
So we're up and at it this morning! Driving to NJ for my niece's dance recital! Excited and nervous about traveling with L! I'm driving from home to BRU to another BRU to my sister's. lol I'll be back on during nursing breaks! I hope everyone has a great day!
dashook have you had your nanny long? How did you find her? The nanny thing intrigues me because I would love one but DH would never go for it.
She started with us part time in January 2016 when DS was 12 months old. He was in daycare full time and she'd pick him up from there in the afternoon and stay until I got home from work. I found her on care.com.
In April 2016 we moved DS into a different daycare that was farther away for her so it mighy not have been worth it for her for the 15 hours a week or whatever, except that I was pregnant again and the expectation was that she'd come work for us fulltime once I went back from maternity leave. Plus DS is awesome and I'm nice to work for so she wanted to stay with us and did.
Then DS's new daycare suddenly closed in September, so rather than look for a new one for the interim period we just took her fulltime then. Right now I'm just having her handle the toddler while I'm on leave, but with only 6 weeks left I've been having her do more with D, and she'll get a raise when I go back and she has the two kids. We also pay her time and a half for anything over the set number of hours we've established.
Even with that though, it's still cheaper to have her than to put both of them in daycare fulltime. Plus we can have flexibility with the hours she's here. Daycares around here are open til 6 at the latest which is way too early for me, especially with the garbage traffic here. So add in the cost of finding another part time sitter to do pick up, and nanny is a no brainer.
starbuck27 yeah, I've gotten that remark with both mine. I wouldn't say they're unusual. Did all these folks have bumps-on-logs for babies, or just terrible memories? Or maybe my babies really ARE exceptional?
Both kids have been sleeping great, so I was concerned that as soon as DH left town for a few days things would go to hell. But no change last night, so I'm cautiously optimistic. We have t-minus 6 days til C hits 4 months. I'm pretty much holding my breath bc she's doing 9-10 uninterrupted hours at night. B definitely had a bit of regression at the 4-month mark, so I guess we'll see shortly.
My mom, sister and I are taking the kids to the Alligator Farm today, and will probably have lunch while we're out. I'm enjoying having some girl time while H is away. They came over yesterday and we just hung out, played with the kids, drank wine and ate pizza. It was really nice.
We get the "alert" comment all the time too! Maybe people don't remember what it was like to have a 3-4month old and are blurring it either brand newborn stage.
waitwhat I'm gonna respond but keeping in mind I don't have a toddler and have no clue about these things really, just my thoughts and what I would do.
I'm gonna use B and J initials.
I'm ok if there is one long nap a day for J with the rest being 20-30 mins - mine do this, always give me one good hour or hour + half nap and then 3 thirty minute ones. So given that I'd try to get Js long nap to be similar to Bs nap. Put B down first and then let J stay on you for his nap until B is up - use that time to rest, watch a movie, etc.
Alternatively, you could just keep going with putting J down after you get him to sleep and wait for him to be used to it enough that he naturally gives you a 1.5ish hour nap in the crib on his own. It took a while but I do get a 1.5hr nap out of Adeline in the RnP. Alec still needs work. But she just got used to me having to put her down. It's usually her 9/10:00ish nap that is the longest whereas Alec usually makes his long nap the earliest one of the day (8ish). I wish he'd still be sleeping in general at that point but he's used to hangin out with H at 5 while he gets ready for work and is in a RnP or bouncer in the bathroom while H gets ready.
Yep. It's official. We have our first colds and both babies are congested. Luckily it doesn't sound too bad yet but I'm already bitter bc I feel like it's somehow the neighbors fault. Yep, can't be us or anyone at the party we were at on Saturday. It must be her and her kids that are in school. Lol.
Anyway so hopefully my tiny humans are feeling better soon.
Do you guys understand the internal satisfaction I get when both babies go down for a nap at the same time. It is seriously as satisfying as a cup of hot coffee, a good sneeze that cleanses your passageways, or finding a $20 bill in your jeans.
Gifs are fun. And I have a sleeping baby on me so I'm gonna show you in gif my reactions

kleigh Ugh sorry about the colds. Hopefully they fight through it without an issue. C actually didn't seem too phased by it except for the crappy sleep which may or may not have been combined with regression.

Well C seems to be better today but I still cancelled our playdate just in case. He is sleeping a lot so I think he's still fighting off whatever he has. He slept through the night for the first time in weeks! I'm not holding my breath but we'll see if it continues.
So I noticed that his humidifier is covered with mold on the inside. This must have just happened because I cleaned the whole thing a few days ago and didn't notice mold. But it's on the inside where I can't reach to scrub it. Is there anything I can use to kill it that is safe?
tgrimes1980goldenlove3sophiegrace Do people's babies not eat as much when they've got colds/feel sick? I feel like they're not eating well past couple days.
goldenlove3 the class was amazing. I bought a membership to do 4 classes a month (i.e., once a week)! Definitely worth checking out the free trial class.
ETA: I burned 667 calories, according to the email report of my workout that I just got!

He wanted to eat but was so stuffy that it was harder for him. I don't think he always finished his bottle. And he keeps falling asleep.

That's awesome! I'll definitely check it out. I think I could handle once a week and then add in walks a few more days a week.
waitwhat inability to get E to take a decent nap on the weekend kills me. I can't imagine that as a daily struggle so kudos to you for figuring something out. I was just reading about sleep this morning and if you were so inclined, they recommend sleep training around 5 months but could be started earlier if needed. Then putting J down in the morning could go faster. Also, could you baby proof B's room and lock him in there with a monitor on him?
kleigh yes, E def eats less when sick or congested. O will hardly consume food when he's sick. It's very sad. But as long as they have wet diapers, they're said to be ok.
It's cold as F today so I don't feel like lugging her around outside but I showered , dressed, and did my hair so I feel like someone more than O's daycare should see that.
I did proposition H this morning for tonight so hopefully he appreciates my effort today.
It's basically an hour long, large group HIIT class with a trainer. Everyone wears a HRM and the idea is to work out in the "orange zone" (80-90% effort) or red zone (90-100%) for at least 12 minutes of the 60 (I was in it for 40 of the minutes!). There is a screen in the room that shows everyone's effort level throughout the class so you know if you need to push harder.

Holy crap that would kill me right now. My former self would love it!

Yeah I've been working out hard 6 days a week for almost 7 weeks now and it kicked my ass. But I feel incredible right now.

H brought O to my work to meet everyone. I was worried he might be fussy (you never know what you are going to get). But he was smiley and happy the entire time! It's my anniversary today! 5 years we are going for drinks and a nice dinner. MIL is watching O.
