TGIF!
I have knocked out 1.5 hours of productivity this morning and have a few hours of real work left to do and then it will be the weekend!!!! 7 hours to go, my friends. What's everyone up to?
Random: When I take melatonin, I'm pretty sure for the first time in my life I experience sleep like normal people experience sleep. No wonder people love it and don't want to get out of bed.
Pretty late in the evening, I got a call from the D.C. firm. They can't absorb another lawyer without a full book right now since they just brought one on. But they still want me to come meet the leadership and think they want to make an offer in 3-4 months. I appreciated the call. And that they are still at least somewhat interested. I guess. But I'm bummed a little.
We don't have plans either. First time in weeks. Much excite.
Random: last night I dreamt that I was helping my younger brother shop for house. I was trying to convince him that all he could afford is a trailer and he was trying to buy a fancy condo. Then we went for BBQ.

As expected, my plans include trying to go into labor even though DH works tonight and Sunday. Neither of us care that it's inconvenient for his time off. We want to meet this girl!
DS and I will go watch my nieces play volleyball tomorrow, other than that just cleaning the house up.
Random: we've decided to move forward with selling our house and buying my grandma's house next to my brother. I'm literally buying a house back that I hoped and prayed I would sell, and did sell, 2 years ago. A friend's parents might be interested in our house so this could all work out perfectly. If not, we have time since the sellers are in no hurry. That gives us time to really purge our house of unnecessary stuff and get it ready to list. We are really excited.
Work vent. So my huge event is Monday. It will be at our local hospital in their auditorium. They provide catering. So this week, I have been trying to set up. The girl who I work with there that is my contact is out of the office. I have no idea if she has covered the room set up or IT. The catering department tells me that the lady I have been working with on food no longer works there? So now I am trying to figure out if catering and IT will be set up by making random cold calls since all of my contacts flew the coop. Plus I gave up cussing for lent.
Busy weekend. Both kids have sleepovers tonight. Volleyball tournament for Dd tomorrow and guitar for Ds. I have appetizers and drinks at the neighbors tommorrow night, couples but I am going single since Dh is working and I have been antisocial the last 2 weekends. I hope to hit a home and garden show sometime.
I leave tomorrow for the giant work trip! I'm starting to get excited, but also terrified. 350+ people at a resort, all my problem. Really praying for no totally crazy drunken shenanigans that I have to deal with.
I'm also freaking out because I'll be gone for 9 days. I used to travel for work all the time, but that's definitely the longest trip ever. DH is used to just a couple days here and there. I know they'll be fine, but I'm feeling guilty. Plus, my kiddos are going to get their glasses while I'm gone! I won't even get to see them in person right away.
I caught DD's cold, coughing and just feel blah and tired today.
twinmomma, you will be great next week! Can't wait for a recap. mommyatty, that sucks but at least they were up front with you and not just stringing you along.
I'm working...DD will be staying home with DH Saturday and hopefully resting to kick her cold. DH doesn't get resting very good. Sunday DD and I are heading up to the gymnastics meet and then afterwards heading to my brothers house to celebrate my sisters b-day.
Family read night at school last night was pretty fun other than I got there too late for dinner so ate a cookie for dinner last night. All the kids that participated got a free book at the end and it was a fun way to see what was going on in all the classrooms and meet other teachers. DD totally clicked with a 2nd grade teacher which gives me hope. Bedtime was a disaster as we got home an hour after normal bedtime so rough late night and rough morning.
Spring Break begins this afternoon. Gym after work, then tonight I think I'm HH with neighbors. DH gets home this evening. Tomorrow - 2 volleyball tournaments, 2 soccer games and I may escape and hit up the design district. Possibly late dinner date with DH after family games with the kids.
Zoo on Sunday. So DH can do one "spring break" thing with us (ie I don't do it all alone).
It feels like everyone is taking big trips this Spring Break (Caribbean, Mexico, skiing, Europe) and I am feeling like a loser with family camp being the big plan. We make a lot of money --- but five kids are expensive and we only take one FOR REAL vacation a year, with side trips like family camp or long weekends thrown in.
Middle has three sleepovers scheduled for next week so she's covered; DS will be at school in the mornings while I work and oldest will have ad hoc social stuff crop up.
That's why I am also going to fit a pedicure, run and gym visit in Saturday/Sunday.
Whoever said that people whose husbands travel take time on the weekends definitely saved me! Weekends are FULL ON but carving out time for me is keeping me sane.
Ballet tomorrow. We were supposed to have a kid's party, but it got canceled. I'm thinking we may get DD out on the trail with her new bike. I don't think she'll go far, but I think she'll have fun. And I have a mission of getting her strong/fast enough that she can ride while I run with her brother in the stroller.
DD's party is Sunday. So I guess I'm also baking and decorating a cake also.
Just FYI to any of you that regularly plan large events for work. Registration deadline March 1 apparently means Registration deadline anywhere up to 5 minutes before.
You guys. Literally every person I talk to today has said something along the lines of "So, are you ready for the trip?! Get ready, brace yourself, hope you don't die!"

2chatter, I have quite literally never been on a spring break trip and have had a perfectly lovely childhood and adulthood. Your kids have a great life. Let any loser feelings go.
Weekend is up in the air. Errands tonight after work, DH will take both kids to tennis while I grocery shop. It's supposed to be terribly cold, so probably not too much outside time. We may or may not have my sister for dinner to meet her new BF, but that's about it.
Random: cash portion of bonuses hit accounts today. 3 people have resigned so far today. Seems I'm not the only one with a plan...
Tons happening this weekend, but should be fun. Groceries and happy hour this afternoon, Teaching an infant care class tomorrow, DD has her first dance class (H takes her), and a waxing consultation in the afternoon (I expect to spend an hour or so trying different things on me to find out what freaks out my skin) Sunday is Church, food prep, and trying to make sure I get all the workouts in from today and tomorrow!

I need this baby to arrive so I can quit working. My brother and the asshole take turns irritating me each day. Today is my brother by default since the asshole isn't here. He's also hung over and all up in my shit. Grabbing stuff off my desk, asking questions about things we've already talked about, being nit picky about stuff. After the 7th trip into my office I started getting less friendly.
Also, you know dh's extra family that irritates me at the holidays? They want me to help them with their insurance policy. One of them is having surgery next week and they know damn well that I'm having a baby any day since they are adamant about being notified the moment I go into labor. Whyyyy did they pick now to approach me about this?
librarychica, do you have a balance bar for the bike? The girl I run (ran? It's been a while since we've really run) with had one when her daughter was first starting off. So much easier during the pulling off training wheels stage. Also for helping out with hills.

That reminded me of my confession: I want to go into labor the day of the family member's surgery so they can't come to the hospital until the next day.

k3am, I don't know what those are. I'll look into it. This weekend we are just going to raise the wheels a bit, not take them off alltogether. She wants to be training wheel free by the time summer comes.
It basically hooks onto the bike to give you a handlebar. Then you can sneakily (or not so sneakily) let go and let them ride. And grab back on if necessary (assuming you're keeping up)

We have dinner with friends tomorrow, and then just the regular list of activities for the kids. I'll run into those friends of mine who just fired me as their lawyer tomorrow at soccer, so we'll see how that goes. I'm sure everyone will be cordial; and I really shouldn't be stressed about it - I did nothing wrong!
Met with the executive team, HR and CEO with the company I'm interviewing with yesterday and got sent their relocation package today, still don't have a formal offer letter yet - but the fact that they sent me a relocation package is a good sign right? I'm so tired of this process. I just mentally did the math and I've spent 9.5 hours on this interview process. It better end soon.
FFFC: I hate when multiple people want to do something like watch a movie together. (1) I don't like movies. (2) I don't want to spend $20 to see a movie I don't like. (3) Why do I need to go through the hassle of coordinating 5-6 people's schedules to see a movie when there's no interaction between said 5-6 people.
I'm an awesome person to hang out with, obviously. >.<
I have an early Monday morning flight for work and I got a mass email this morning from our online travel system saying that if you booked a flight with this airline, there was a system error and you don't have an assigned seat on the plane. I put in a help desk ticket since that is what they said to do at 7am. Now it is almost 2pm and I haven't heard back from anyone yet. I tried calling and complaining an hour ago and they allegedly escalated the ticket. I'm scheduled to leave work in less than 2 hours. I'm going to call someone else here soon.
librarychica, k3am, that balance bar is amazing. We have it on DD's bike. We skipped training wheels all together as we went from balance bike to big bike.
Any tips on learning to peddle? That is our big problem! I'm hoping once the rains stop in a couple months she figures out the peddle thing.
tas1883, DD had a hard time with peddling. She does the first few minutes she gets on, but with a little encouragement and DH helping she figures it out pretty quick. (She's only had the bike for a few days, so I'm hoping she stops needing any help any day now).

DS really still has a hard time with pedaling. It doesn't help that he throws a fit and gives up within two seconds of not being able to do it.
Saturday is very busy. I'm going to do my long run, then DH is taking DS to home depot to do a free kid project while I take DD to gymnastics. Then at 2pm I have tickets for my mom, me and DS to go see a kid friendly play.
Sunday I have my long bike ride and then we have a family art class my sister is putting on at her church. I hope it's as fun as it sounds.
Where are your bikes, people? We don't ride ours much because DH mandates they hang from the garage ceiling - and I am 5'3" with almost 10" garage ceilings. I can barely reach with the little bikes and the adult bikes are freaking heavy.

We have a Thule bike rack that hooks into the trailer hitches on my car/DH's truck. He somehow mounted it to the wall in the garage, so we can store the bikes on it when we're not using them. I'm a bit taller than you are (5'6"), and I can get them down with ease. No way I could get them down from the ceiling.
