Your boy is just so sweet! Keep updating us on your mom please, tallblonde. Also, how are YOU doing?
Hanging in, I think it's just survival mode. I'm getting a cold and exhausted. N has her first cold and is waking up more at night, which I'm okay with since I want to nurse when I'm home. Yesterday was a roller coaster since so so relieved that she's coming back, but then it's daunting to think of how much farther we have to get her. For a split second she asked who I was when I got here which crushed me, but then wrote my name and was fine. Her poor friend that she was with visited and has been beside herself and had to go to a therapist yesterday. She asked for her phone and was scrolling through Facebook and unlocked her iPad by herself. Thanks for thinking of me.
We thought she was going to rehab yesterday but we noticed Thursday that she wasn't talking as much after she woke up from a nap, so they did a CT scan and found one of the bleeds was increasing. Then yesterday she was back to talking but after she woke up around 4 she was kind of having a seizure or something and they found that the bleed was growing...And then had another while we were talking to her with the resident was in the hall. They took us away and sent the chaplain. They had to do emergency surgery and removed a hematoma in her brain. She surgery was successful and her scan looks good, but now recovering from brain surgery.
Guise, it was so awful. I am so so glad I hadn't left for the night so my sister and I were together. We pretty much thought she wouldn't make it and/or would be brain dead. We even had the chaplain crying with us. MH got here with my dad and stepmom/brother right as surgeon was updating us. I stayed in her room overnight and my sis is at a hotel with her h. We have two aunts and my cousin en route as well. And my SIL is on her way to help with my kids.
MH is out buying formula now.. not surprisingly my supply has tanked, but going to keep pumping bc I have to hope someday things will be normal again.
So so thankful for the amazing doctors here. We aren't out of the woods by any means, but taking it hour by hour at this point. Xo
Oh my gosh tallblonde, I'm so sorry. I'm really glad you were there and that you have family close by/on the way. Praying for a full recovery for your mom. Hang in there; big hugs to you.

How scary tallblonde. I'm sorry she's going through this. I'm glad the surgery was a success and pray she's on the road to recovery. I'm glad you were there with her! Keeping you and your mom in my prayers.
Thank you for updating us. I'm glad you and your sister are able to be there with her. Hoping she is turning a corner and improves rapidly from this point.
Morning, thanks for the sweet thoughts. She seems to be recovering well according to doctors. Got the vent out mid day Saturday, and got a feeding tube yesterday. She follows commands like wiggle fingers and toes and she wakes up and looks at us and kind of smiles.
They took her bandage off which was an adjustment. She is half bald and one side of her face is incredibly swollen. They said he may move out of the NCCU today which scares us since we weren't impressed with the nurses on the regular floor.
This snowstorm can suck it. My sister and aunt are going to ride it out up there. We got a hotel a mile away so they can walk there if needed. I'm going to stay home so I can nurse and take advantage of help being in town. I considered bringing N to the hotel but she's sick and I can't risk getting anyone sick.
tallblonde What an ordeal! And to think it all started from just doing a good deed and donating blood! Crazy! I will keep you, your mom, and your entire family in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Hi all, thanks for thinking of me. We have had a few good days, so currently I'm feeling hopeful. I feel like I'm just driving all over the place. Home - J's school - back tracking and then to hospital for all day - home. Today she told the nurse she had a brain injury and was talking and making sense. My sister went home after 2 weeks yesterday to see her kids and my other aunt arrived today, so she's with 2 sisters tonight-Tues. We are hoping for a move to rehab on Monday or Tuesday, so maybe I can think about work this week.
MH somehow sprained his foot so that is a nice hiccup since I'm kind of needed at home since he can't really walk. As you can imagine, I'm handling this gracefully..Not. so now he's watching basketball and I'm trying to get place organized since his sister and family are in town.
Glad to hear she is doing better. I hope she continues to improve so she can blow that pop stand and get home!
Ha, she said last night, "let's get out of here!" She is ready. I went to her house and packed a bag for rehab yesterday, which hopefully we can use tonight.

Another Friday..So 3 weeks from fall and 2 from surgery. She was moved Monday to acute rehab and we were told to expect 30 days maybe more...Today they told us they want to discharge her Wednesday since she is walking with just some assistance..So she is considered out patient now. We are now freaking out and trying to line up sub acute care because my sister and I cannot provide 24 hour care with current living situations, nor can we relocate our families to her house.
She is making great progress considering all she has gone through. She has post traumatic amnesia, so that's short term memory loss, and forgets to look out of her left eye, which supposedly can be retrained. She has some speech issues to work through, but gets her point across and hasn't lost her sense of humor. She texted me this morning asking about N's doctors appt which felt normal.
My aunt leaves Monday, but thankfully my other aunt that left Tuesday is now driving out for 2-3 weeks to help out again..This is exhausting.
tallblonde it sounds like she has a long road but the progress she has made is amazing! Can you put the word out among her friends/neighbors and find people willing to help out? I bet there are a lot of people who would be willing if you ask.
