On vacation again today. Car is in the shop and we have no idea what is wrong with it or how much it will cost. It's 12 years old so we should be happy it lasted this long but we can't afford to buy another new car.
I'm waiting for the shop to call and give me an estimate. I'll likely have to get a rental so I can go pick up J from DC tonight and get to work tomorrow.
Yay, the site is back up. I couldn't get on this morning. M is currently playing with the big recycling truck we finally pulled back out for her. It was a Hanukkah gift.

I'm back into the land of the living today. Well sort of. DH had to go to work so I didn't really have a choice. I will be doing the bare minimum of parenting today.

Glad I'm not the only one still hoarding holiday gifts! I have 2 things from Christmas still, I was pulling out 1/week but then I forgot. At this point I'm keeping at least one in my back pocket for a day when she's cranky and I'm feeling gross and we need a quick distraction.

Good morning ladies! MH kept me up all freakin night. He has food poisoning or a stomach bug or something. All I know is he got out of bed a bunch of times and was throwing up. Not cool. He went to work anyway because he is feeling better-ish and he has a special training to do that he can't miss. He doesn't have to be near people really so he won't infect the masses. G was also up half the night because MH is the noisiest human ever. She slept until 7:15 this morning because of it which is nice had I actually been sleeping too. I have to work this evening for a few hours. After that I may attempt a gym trip but I may be too tired.
Eli now roars and growls and sounds like a death metal band member. The other day he screamed in a deep voice "Broooootheeeeerrrrr!" And chased DS1 around. Haha!

Yes! That's when I've been pulling them out. When she's a grump and when I'm just done with parenting.
Ugh. I hate cars and that I absolutely require one for life. It's gonna be $1750 to do the repairs we need. FML.
Ahh, that stinks! Our cars are getting old too (07 and 08 models), and I'm always scared that the next repair is going to be $$$.
We bought a new car in June thankfully but our second car (this one) is a 2005. Worst case scenario we could live with one car but it would be very difficult. We both commute to work plus DC drop off/pick up, so we really need to do this fix. I am trying to figure out what are must-do's and what is nice to have (ie air conditioning).

MH should be home early from work. When he gets home I have to make a bunch of phone calls to make dr appointments for us. We all need the eye dr and the dentist. I also need my annual appointment with my ob-gyn. Fun time.
That is so shitty, that is a lot of sick days IMO. Have you talked to her about it at all before?
I haven't said anything because I don't know what to say! She had offered to help find alternative care before but I'm just not comfortable dropping C off at some new strange place with new people once in a blue moon.
I agree, I would not be comfortable dropping her off with someone she doesn't know either. Remind me is she an in home center, or a nanny? I think I would talk about a realistic amount of sick days per year and what you think it is, and what she thinks it is. I personally think 2-3 per year is reasonable. Does she get a certain number of vacation days, and holidays that you are off, does she watch C? That is super frustrating. Sorry you are dealing with it and having to use your days, for last min coverage rather than fun planned out stuff!

bwisco123 - The same thing happened to us but with our date night sitter. She would call off hours before and completely screw up our plans, and many times, tickets were already purchased for events etc. She also offered to have a friend of hers watch the kids but we told her no, and then had to unfortunately find a much more reliable sitter.

When I has at dd's school last week I saw her "when I grow up I want to be" papers. her's says she's going to be the president. So I'm gonna need y'all to promise here and now that you'll vote for her in about 35ish years, k?
Well. Waiting for a taxi to the car shop and the rental car place. We've decided to get DHs cousin to fix it but it means towing it 150km to his shop. Thank god for CAA!

G is eating the cheese off of the top of her turkey burger and leaving the burger part. Its pretty funny watching her bite just the cheese part off. She usually eats the burger part too. Hopefully she will do so when she is done snacking on cheese. 😂

N has been growling too... but she growls with a wicked Boston accent "gahhhh" haha
I'm having cereal for lunch here because lazy. How long do kid meals take at everyone else's house? Because it takes M a minimum of 45 minutes to eat and it makes me crazy.
Well car is towed, I've picked up the rental, done all my laundry and changed the sheets on the beds. Now I'm going to watch Trevor Noah on Netflix until I have to go pick up J.
