Like it says, tmi, so let's jump right in. Lol
Just another fun day oF constipation. I struggled prior to pregnancy. I had this tea I LOVED that worked like magic. It is an herbal tea that uses senna leaf. It acts as a stimulant laxative. OB says she is fine with me continuing to use it. But, I'm too scared. Stimulant laxatives function by causing intestinal contractions. A potential side result is that it causes uterine contractions, because muscle contractions are muscle contractions. Your body doesn't get to decide which muscles to contract when you throw stuff at it. It's not like you can say "ONLY GO TO THE INTESTINES". So my pgal brain won't let me drink my tea. I would be beyond myself if something happened because I drank tea. Which I know is irrational, but totally not irrational at the same time, even dh says to skip the tea.
so here I am trying to figure out what to do. Colace hasn't helped. I have resorted to using infant glycerine suppositories every other day. It's not really how I like to spend my time and energy. lol. Waiting on this thing to let me poop. Which leads me to finding other options and searching for results.
I have consistently heard that magnesium is good for constipation relief. It is a great supplement for relaxing and restful sleep, and a side result is that it loosens and keeps things moving. So, I took the step, I emailed the ob asking if I could try it. Explained that I want to avoid stimulant laxatives this early in pregnancy; that colace hasn't done anything. And asked if I could try this. So, we shall see.
All this whole long story to say....what other solutions do y'all have?
