Pretty sure gbs is a very common thing and you can't really prevent it per se. It's in your intestine or something irrc and it can come and go without you noticing. I don't think it has any relation to how your discharge smells. I had it the first time with DD and it was really no big deal. Not too concerned if I get it again.
I use poise liners for the discharge. It helps alot. They're made for incontinence which is also helpful for the increasing snisses.

I know Group B strep is common and no big deal, but my understanding is that the antibiotics are most effective if you get them at least four hours before delivery, and that's longer than my entire labor with DS. With both of my births I got to the hospital less than an hour before the baby popped out . So if there are any otherwise non harmful steps that may possibly reduce the likelihood, I would like to give them a shot!

So this is a new odd symptom. It HAS to be due to my increasing acid reflux at night but my uvula is soooo swollen. You know, that thing that hangs down in the back of your throat. The night before last, I woke up with the acid creeping into my mouth. Last night wasn't so bad but I still woke up with the throat burn. I guess it's finally pissed my throat off enough. In the grand scheme of things, NBD. It's just the weirdest feeling. I have to breathe through my nose when walking or i can feel it moving and sticking to my tongue. Gross, right?

Don't remember if we have discussed this before but are you taking anything for acid reflux? It can actually cause damage to your esophagus so it's not just an annoyance but can be more serious. I have a damaged esophagus from non-pregnancy related acid reflex that I didnmt even know I had for years! Sorry that's just me on my soapbox.

I actually have been just taking Tums as needed. It hasn't really been noticeable until maybe a week or 2 ago. Same with last pregnancy. My Dr suggested all of the typical home remedies (don't eat late, elevate your bed a little) so I didn't really bring it up again. Figuring I only have less than 3 weeks and I'd suck it up, but ugh hopefully no damage... didn't even think about that!!

I didn't mean to scare you. The few weeks is probably not enough to cause damage. If it gets bad though know that Zantac is safe for pregnancy.

Noooooo don't apologize! I need to know this stuff!
Honestly, last time I didn't have a lot of issues and my OB was more of a "yep, that's pregnancy"' sort of doctor. I don't think I took anything for any ailment (except tums). This time I've taken way more meds (for the morning sickness, BP, sinus infection, etc) so I guess I was just figured I could deal. But with my luck its going to escalate quickly

teachermomtobe, that's good to know, I've only had really bad acid reflux a handful of times in this pregnancy but it's been super bad and my strategy was to just ignore it, now it doesn't sound like the best plan
Me: 29 DH: 35 NTNP since May 2013 charting since June 2014 dx: Graves disease (radioactive iodine), Crohns disease (abdominal surgeries) MMC October 2015 (9 weeks) Severe MFI diagnosis July 2015

Ive been taking Zantac. I take the lower dosage, which you can take up to 2 a day. Sometimes one is enough, other days I need both, and on rare days I need two doses AND Tums. But it's very helpful. I've actually read that you can have problems (not sure what, specifically, but the dosages maxes are lower for pregnant women) from having too much Tums so in some ways Zantac is advantageous.
I agree! I don't remember it being this bad with my 1st.
Same. And - total TMI - it smells this time. It makes me worried that maybe I have Group B Strep? Which I know is not the end of the world, but I don't want to have to get to the hospital earlier than I want to, or have to have antibiotics.
So I just started taking a womens' probiotic designed to make your "vaginal flora" healthier (ha , and have started eating more yogurt. Is anyone else doing anything different to try to prevent Group B Strep?
So with my previous kids, instead of antibiotics, I used an antibacterial soap/water mix, up the vag once labor started. I chose not to be tested since I was just going to wash anyway (it's a special wash from the MW, not just any soap), so I'm not sure if I had GBS. Either way, all my kids were safe and healthy. I have very quick labors too.

Today I'm actually freaking out how much discharge I've been having. I have had hardly anything this entire pregnancy and today it's soaking through my underwear. I hope it's a sign of nothing.

My doctor's office always asks about change in CM. I never know what they are hoping to hear/what is good or bad-no changes, lots of changes, specific changes! Hoping yours is nothing!!!

when my doula came over on sunday, we were talking about wanting to avoid episiotomy this time, likelihood of tearing in the same spot, etc. she asked how my scar tissue felt - i was like uhhh idk. it's not like i haven't felt anything around there but i haven't noticed it. she said if it hasn't bothered me it's probably fine, but suggested i get to know it and see if it's hard (bc if so it's more likely to tear), and massage it, etc. well...it is hard. it feels super weird, like there are BBs along the line of my scar. and i can't tell if it's from my 2nd degree internal tear or the episiotomy.
things to discuss with my dr. now i'm scared. anyone else have scar tissue that's weird?

I don't think have little balls of scar tissue is uncommon? Scar tissue is weird and not uniform. Usually when it's healing they tell you to massage it roughly with vit e oil, so maybe try that and see if you can break it up?
bagels thanks. i'll try that. my doula mentioned that vibrators are really good at breaking up scar tissue too, so...does that mean i have to go to a sex store at 35 weeks pregnant? lol. thank god for online shopping.

Hahahaha oh darn!! 😜
Is this where I confess I have never owned or used any sex toy?

bagels never?! I had a small collection from our more adventurous days, but I recently threw them all out because the batteries were all weird and crusty from years of neglect. Lol. Great timing.

I'll play. I used to have one. Back in the early days of dating DH (like 2007) I mentioned it like it was NBD and he freaked out. He imagined some obscene gigantic thing in his head. It was a big fight we had. Once I showed him he laughed. Like OMG I was mad about that cute little thing?!
I eventually tossed it because my mom was helping me move and one of my bags started vibrating and luckily she didn't understand what was up. But that was a close enough call for me... how could I explain that to my mom?!!

I used to be like your H and think sex toys were big huge dildos. I've since learned there's so much more out there lol. Still haven't used or bought any. My mom is the type that says she doesn't want to go to the adult store alone so will I go with her 😳 Lol

ugh yes. i had one in college that moved to my parents' house with me while i job searched. from there i moved out of state (flew, only took 2 suitcases and the vibrator did not make the cut), and i knew i'd be back to collect stuff here and there. i just put it between the mattress and box springs thinking it was safe. so of course my parents decided to rearrange not long after and found it. my mom was like, "your dad and i found a pink vibrator in your room! what's that all about?" um. what kind of question is that?! i also found my mom's when i was in high school, so it was like...vibrator karma.

agm04 that was my worst fear! I would think my mom would pretend she didn't notice and not say anything because we avoid those awkward conversations! But your story is hilarious, sorry
