Mine never fit in nb stuff. He was 9 1/2 lbs though.
I'm bringing prunes bc Colace didn't work well enough for me last time and I got horribly constipated. Other things to pack - several chap sticks, pretty blanket and at least one cute hat for pictures, going home outfit, yoga pants, a couple nursing tanks, face wash. +1 on hair ties or headbands. I wore a sports bra for labor and will not do that again - after the birth, for nursing, I couldn't get it all the way off bc of all the tubes (epidural etc) so I ended up with my sports bra hanging out next to me with the IV lines through it. Going nursing bra this time.
We took little baby shirts when we went home - not sure if we were supposed to do that, whoops! we had success with the hospital swaddle blankets over a diaper and a shirt.
I brought the boppy and also left it in the car til postpartum. I was glad I had it when baby was up all night nursing on night 2. I can never get plain pillows positioned how I like them, found boppy easier.
irish14 9lb11oz here. I have a pile of newborn stuff that was never worn. I'm hoping for an average sized boy this time
As far as a hospital bag, I brought way too much last time so I'm going minimalist this time. I was content staying in the hospital gown until it was time to leave. The hospital provided so much for me and baby that I really didn't need much.
-clothes to go home in -toiletries - CHAPSTICK! -phone charger -flip flops for the shower -snacks -camera
For baby boy -clothes to go home in -Muslin blanket for the car
BFP# 1 7/7/12 Beautiful DD born still at 36 weeks 5 days on 3/2/13 BFP #2 8/7/14 Rainbow DS born 4/2/15 Started adoption process July 2016 BF#3 8/29/16 DD2 born 4/21/17
My top items are -my own towel...the hospital towels were so small and scratchy -my small work desk fan...the room gets so stuffy and I can't sleep without a fan
I packed little thank you bags with C to give to the nurses and they were a big hit. H gave one to the women delivering the meals and she ended up bringing him meals every time she brought mine. I put Starbucks frappacinos in them, hand sanitizer, chapstick and candy bars.

love this idea. I was trying to think of something like this to do. Also considering ordering like Cheryl's cookies for the rns on the floor or something.

I packed a ton last time but ended up using most of it. Yes... I'm the girl who not only brings all her makeup but also straightens her hair too. It helped make me feel normal while there for DS. Here's my tentative list.... it's insanely specific because I always forget stuff when I pack.... lol
Hospital Bag - Paperwork for work
- Last minute items on note on top (long charger, phone, ipad, wallet, toothbrush, makeup
- Toiletries: toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, shower brush, louffa, body wash, razor, face wash, deodorant, makeup, hair dryer, round brush, heat brush, mousse, hair elastics, flip flops, lanolin, chapstick, gas pills and softeners, bobby pins, dry shampoo
- Comfort: phone, iPad, long charger w iPad brick, headphones, speaker w charger, nice camera
- Baby: binky, swaddles, outfits, going home outfit, car seat, picture book & sharpie pens for visitors to sign, gift to DS, hat??, boppy w extra cover
You'll want at least the phone numbers for everyone you need to call- 1) who you call to add baby to insurance 2) who you call to officially start leave if not already on leave 3) number(s) for disability if you have coverage
I have to mail in forms to add baby to insurance so I have them pre-filled to the best of my ability and will finish in the hospital. I also have written down what other info they need to add baby
I have the phone number and policy for STD and our benefit center.
I also have how to connect to my work email remotely so I can let my boss know and he'll spread the word to our bureau
I'm a teacher and my Human Resources dept requests certain things signed by the doctor after delivery to ensure my maternity leave goes through correctly. I also pay into long term/short term disability so the actual delivery entitles me to some benefits so I bring that too. Easier to get it done while there than driving to my OB after I'm discharged.
Somers Isles I take a lot of my makeup too and straighten my hair. People take pictures and I want to like what I see when I look at them lol.
Exactly. I was showering and flat ironing less than 24 hours after my emergency CSection. It made me feel a bit more normal.
And yes... I'm gonna be the mom who rolls into her scheduled CSection with light makeup and straightened hair. 😂
I totally showed up to my induction freshly showered, hair and light makeup done. I waltzed on in like I was hot stuff! Afterwards was a different story, I was so bloated from the meds that I'm not sure anything would have helped! Haha!

This was my plan... waking up in active labor 3 hours after going to bed, about 6 hours prior to the start of said induction, was not in my plan and threw my plan out the window..

That was me with DD. I showed up to the hospital with perfect hair and make up in a fun maxi dress with wedges. The nurses thought it was HILARIOUS but I was sure glad that I did with all the pictures ppl took immediately following my RCS.
sleepymonkey I bled less after my RCS than on my regular periods. You should be ok with regular or thin maxi pads. I'm bringing them!
DH had to go buy preemie clothes for DD b/c she was 6lbs6oz. She wore preemie for about 3 weeks, then newborn till she was almost 3 months old. For this little guy, I'm bringing one NB sleeper and one 3 month sleeper.
I'm packing light this time! One "nice" set of clothes (prob a maxi dress) for when the hospital photographer comes, then comfy clothes, toiletries and makeup. Snacks for sure and prob a laptop so we can watch Netflix during down time.
Kudos to all you ladies who can swing the makeup and hair after delivery. I don't think I even tried to do mine for weeks. Maybe months...
Lol years for me. But I've never been big on make up or hair. Just don't care lol.
I didn't even bring makeup to the hospital when I had DD. Although I did kind of regret it because we had pics done in the hospital and one of them is a close-up of my face. But I am not a big make-up person anyway - I usually only wear it to work and then it's only a little eye makeup. And my hair is in a ponytail 95% of the time because I have no patience.

Haha yeah I straighten my hair for events but that's about it. I realized a couple months ago that I don't even own a hair dryer. One of my old roommates broke it and I never replaced it. This was like 5 years ago.

BabyStandish, I bought an expensive hair dryer a year ago thinking that maybe that would inspire me to blow dry my hair. Nope. I think I have used it maybe 3 times. I have long, thick, wavy hair that takes forever to blow dry and my sleep is more important to me in the morning than getting up 20 minutes earlier to do my hair.

When our hospital photographer asked if I wanted to be in any pictures I almost laughed in her face. No, I don't want to remember how bloated and heavy I looked. Just takes pictures of my baby!

lupincat, that's what I wanted to say but she took a good pic of H with DD so he pressured me in to having a pic as well. I'm not sure whether we're doing the hospital pics or pics after we get home but either way, I would prefer not to be in any of them!
Somers Isles, hpnegirl, I am just starting to figure that stuff out with my office manager. I do have to file for STD and then figure out paperwork for adding baby to my health insurance. Fun stuff!
PirateCat you might be able to do some of the STD paperwork early. I started mine and have a claim pending on my due date. I just have to call when I have the baby and update the actual date the STD starts and I'm sure I'll have to provide some additional information. My HR wanted certain things done 30 days in advance so I got as much done as possible.

I've really stopped giving a crap if I look tired or bad in the hospital pics. 8 figure I have an excuse, I just freaking gave birth. I'm glad bc we have some really sweet pics of us with DS from the hospital photog.

Yea, I think that is the plan. I'll discuss with my office manager and see what can be done ahead of time.
