becole. I think so. That week works best for my work schedule (clients go on vacation then so things slow down except for transactional matters) and I tend to take it off anyway. It also works better for my dad since classes are out and the administrative stuff slows down. My parents are prepared to pay the holiday premium and there are definitely a couple options in the budget they gave me. They want to do a trip in lieu of Christmas gifts (which is fine by me) and thought it would be a nice way for us to spend time together doing something different. I think H and I want to do Disney in 2019 when Star Wars comes out, so we may not do that yet.
Gatlinburg sounds fun! Or maybe Asheville? Asheville has fun restaurants, a minor league baseball team, hiking, cute town.
Sounds like a resort in Mexico would be perfect then. Or the Florida Keys. Nassau is really fun too.
Does anyone know if the Motherhood Maternity in Tri-County mall closed? That's the one I was planning to go to. DNW to go to Kenwood today
Google maps says tri county doesn't have one. Northland does if that would be any better than Kenwood. I'm actually going to Kenwood this afternoon. Can I pick one up for you? I got all of my tasks done this morning, so I'm happy to meet up with you or drop it off afterwards.

You're so sweet! Thanks for the offer, but I really want to just pick it up on my way home, and my schedule for the afternoon will depend on a kid making up a test and how long it takes her. So it would probably be just as difficult to meet up with you as just going myself.
That would actually be easier than Kenwood I think. Thanks!
They have a good sale. Park near Columbia.
Well I remembered at the last minute that I had to be home by 5:30 because the swing s set guy is coming by to flag the location in the yard for installation. But H should be home any minute also and then I'll try to run out there.
Dang. Those "buy a shitload, get one free" sales get me every time.
I only shop clearance racks there. They have a pretty good racket game.
Yeah. I usually hit the clearance racks, but I don't really need any clothes. I needed bras so I picked out 2, and then realized it was buy 3 get one free, so then I got 2 more.
JoBub I'm late to the convo but regarding sleeping arrangements in the hotel room, do they still offer those little roll away beds? I can remember sleeping on one of those many times as a kid. I might have been older than E but it might be an option so you don't have to share the bed with him.

I really like the Jessica Simpson nursing cami. It's got lace trim and molded cups and ruched sides. Bras just suck when pregnant.
I'm so exhausted guise. C was up 3x last night, she hasn't done that in what seems like forever. Naturally she would decide to do that the night before I had to go to work So yeah I had to work then come home and had listen to the crazy toddler ramble on and on. I'm just so done, I can't wait to climb into bed. Found out that N is going to move up to the next room at dc right before her birthday, this will be saving us about $190/month bc we also get a discount with having 2 there. Also I visited the Infant room again and just need to prepare myself for taking C there in less than a month. Anyone have advice for me on a baby at dc?? Things I need to know?? I didn't have to take N to dc until she was 1 so I'm nervous. One of the floater teachers in N's room told me to be prepared for her to be sick that first week. I'm so not looking forward to that part

I didn't know you were going to work yet! Is your mil watching baby?
That's nice that you'll get a bit of a break. We just got a letter today that they're raising the rates and it's going to be $50 more/ month with both of them- ug. Incomes are not going up the same way that everything else keeps rising. I don't understand it. Anyway, tangent.
D.C. And baby - well I had to send both to an infant room. It's fine. Try not to stress. I think it's actually so much easier having an older kid because you're used to seeing soo many kids and few teachers and the infant room everyone is pretty much taken care of. I take my milk that I pumped for the next day and drop it off so I don't forget it. I also leave about 3 bags of frozen milk in their freezer in case he all the sudden ups his intakes I try to take enough diapers for the whole week and also change of clothes. I get the run down before he started about their rules on keeping/ reusing breastmilk. And it took a while to work out how much I was pumping and how much I would send in each bottle. I send 3 4 ounce bottles and 1 2 ounce bottles. He's ready to eat when I pick him up and he's exhausted at night. Expect an adjustment period while they try to learn her cries/ needs. Write down as much info about her as you can remember - all her tricks.
How's her thrush btw? Is she nursing better? Seem less uncomfortable?
vlagroupie- she's already been exposed more with N in DC.
I drop baby off first and try not to linger. Get in, deliver info, and get out. More for you than anything and then also when separation anxiety may set in but that will be awhile. Especially for the first few drop offs if you get weepy. The older kid is a good distraction.
becole I just went today bc I had a customer visiting our office, my mil watched her. I won't go back until march 27 unless something comes up. They won't store frozen milk. And they can't pour milk out of one bottle if she needs more. So I would need to bring some bottles with like an ounce if she needs a topoff, which sucks bc more dishes. She took 4 oz bottles no problem today while I was at work. So at least I have an idea of what to maybe expect with regards to how much she will eat, and I pumped a little over 4 oz at each pumping session. I think the thrush is slowing getting better, but it's still there. I do think it affects how she's nursing, her latch isn't great sometimes and she makes a clicking noise while nursing and drinking from the bottle. She's almost finished with the medicine so I probably need to get a refill and go back to see the doc. I was really hoping it would be cleared up by now though.
Oh man sorry the thrush isn't better. That stinks that they won't store frozen milk. What do they do when formula babies want an extra bottle for the day than their normal? Surely they don't want the babies going hungry. I would probably push back on that. 3 daycares and I've never heard that one before.

Our daycare wouldn't store frozen milk either. Maybe it's an ohio thing? We would just bring an extra bottle and if he didn't drink it, it would bottle #1 the next day. We could also bring powdered formula to be stored there and used in an emergency.
I had all the bottle caps labeled #1-#4 in order that they should be used so if there was frozen milk it would get used first. Then all I had to do was switch the #4 cap to #1 cap for the next day. I used a regular label maker and the labels stayed on in the dishwasher, but were easy to peel off. We went through a lot of labels. Every bottle had one with his name that would stay on all the time, and then one with today's date that got switched every day, and then one with the date the milk was pumped/thawed that would just come off when the bottle was being washed.

They do the same thing if there's a bottle he didn't drink, then it goes to the next day. But I don't see how that works to send an extra bottle every day if you don't pump extra milk- that's what the frozen is for. Because once it's thawed from frozen you have to use it, and at least for my babe, it's only like once/ week that they need that extra bottle. So if I was thawing frozen milk every day and he didn't drink it, then it could be used be following day but then there would be extra from the fresh milk. If they allow leaving powdered formula for these situations, I would think they would need to have an equivalent "backup" for breastmilk. Some days it just happens that he's hungrier than usual and they thaw and give an extra bottle. Both fresh and frozen can go in the crockpot to warm so it's not extra work or anything.

Out of curiosity I looked up the rules on BM for Ohio. The only thing I can find regarding frozen milk is that it must be thawed in the refrigerator or under cold running water, so I think this may just be a center rule.
My issue with bringing the extra bottle, is how much I put in it. If she's consistently drinking a 4 oz bottle but one day is extra hungry, I don't want to have them start another 4 oz bottle and she only drinks an ounce and wastes the rest. I guess I just leave a 1 or 2 oz bottle as the extra one right?? becole so they store your frozen milk for you? It was understanding that they won't store it. This is all new to me so I'm learning from you all! JoBub what labels did you use? Can you send me a link? I totally forgot I'll need to label everything.

vlagroupie could you bring 1-2 frozen bags with 2oz in them every day to thaw in the fridge as backup? If she doesn't use them, then you could put them in a bottle for the next day and (in theory) freeze that much of your pumped milk. This would help you cycle through your stash too so you don't have milk from her newborns days when she is 6+ mo
Yeah, and I think they just didn't want to be responsible for long-term storage of anything that can potentially go bad. I had to take everything home every night regardless. Like what if their freezer malfunctions, or isn't cold enough or something. They just don't want the liability.
It was really never a hassle, and sort of forced me to rotate my freezer stash. So on Monday I would just make sure at least one bottle was never-frozen milk. That one was #4. 1-3 might be fresh or frozen, just depending on whether I froze everything on Friday after work. Then Tuesday, that extra bottle (probably) goes back, but labeled as #1. It's NBD as long as it was never frozen. The other 3 bottles come from what I pumped on Monday. There's probably some leftover in the fridge from Monday pumping. The next day, if there's an extra bottle from Tuesday, that turns into #1. Any leftover Monday milk goes in #2, and anything pumped Tuesday goes in #2,3,4. There was always a little extra in the fridge, and on Friday I would freeze most of it. It was kind of nice so that I never really thought much about how much I was pumping each day since I didn't have to get exactly the amount he would eat the next day. If I didn't pump quite enough over the course of a week, it would just take a little extra out of my freezer stash on Monday, or I'd pump over the weekend to try to make up for it.

I guess I should add that they almost never used the last bottle. So make it smaller if you think it's unlikely that she'll need another full bottle. But you also just have to sort of let go of that worry. It will take a few weeks for her to adjust to a routine, and in that time, some milk might get wasted. It's just going to happen. DC teachers know that BM is liquid gold, and they'll try not to be careless with it, but in the beginning you just don't know what C will need. After a few weeks, they'll get a routine down where most days that last bottle will just be a backup and won't normally be used.
I have a Brother P-Touch label maker. I had an older one, and the labels would turn black in the bottle warmer. But with my newer one the labels stay on through everything, but are still easy to peel off and don't leave residue. I would just fold over the end to leave a little pull-tab on the ones I had to pull off each day.

I think this is what she would have to do if they won't bend on this. Ideally- I send a 4 ounce, 2 ounce, and 1 ounce frozen. They can choose what they need based on what time it is and what he needs. She could thaw 2 ounces and freeze two ounces every day but that's so much extra work... ive been cycling through my milk on Fridays now like chrispy1122 suggested.
The problem with the extra is that it's typically not sending a whole bottle. Because she may only need 2 ounces but if she sends just 2 ounces, then that can't be bottle #1 the next day because it's not a full bottle.
vlagroupie, I also had these special caps for my Medela bottles where you could twist it to display the day of the week that it was pumped. So I could always keep track of the pumped milk in the fridge.
I would pump with a 4oz bottle on one side, and then an 8-9 oz bottle on the other side. And then afterward I would pour it all into the large bottle so everything from one pump session was in the same container. And then put one of the day lids on it (I only had 2-3 of them). That way if I ended up with pumped milk in the fridge from 2 different days, I would know which to use first.
I guess if you could send an extra 2 ounce fresh bottle every Monday- that can stay in the fridge all 5 days and then be frozen on Friday if it's unused. The problem is if she uses the fresh Monday- then you need another fresh extra 2 ounces and you may or may not have that.
