That's rough sharebear05! Stop and get a fresh cup!
I literally passed out the second I got home from work last night. I must have been tired! One of my patients was bleeding pretty badly yesterday and I had to hold pressure for a long time and I think that just wore me out.
I go for my NT scan today. I'm hoping both kids behave while we are there. I'm going to have to bribe them with snacks.
I just wrote out a bunch of specifics, but I was bored just reading it.
Summary: my day will be super busy and I'm teetering between optimistic energy for tackling it and giving in and feeling totally overwhelmed.
Related- I went to a school in another district to observe and get ideas Monday and in some ways it was good and in some ways it totally broke me. They have the same number of kids but about 1/3 more staff. They have 5 people who do the things that I'm trying to do alone....which may explain why I so frequently feel like I'm totally losing it.

I'm excited for a mostly do nothing day today. I'm taking a colleague out to a long work-sanctioned lunch followed by an offsite meeting. Thankfully I'm in a bit of a lull before we start ramping up for budget season next month. I'm was also able to put on a pair of dress pants that I haven't been able to wear since I before I got pregnant with Noah. Woohoo!

My uncle passed away peacefully last night. He was 90 and lived a long life. I still feel sad, even though I expected it. The question now is, should I bring S to the funeral if I don't have to? Most likely MIL may be able to watch her.

rayann687 if you had someone to watch her, I wouldn't bring her. I'll only bring my kids to funerals of very close family members... like a parent or grandparent. Even then, I'll have someone else take them out. H's grandma passed away when P was about 2ish and she was a terror. You could hear her screaming even through the soundproof glass in the church and then proceeded to sprint around the funeral home. Kids help adults get their mind off the death though I think. It really helped people for P to be there when my dad died (she was 6 months).
Good luck wrangling the kids during the scan wells2010! Hoping for good results forevermorgan. Condolences rayann687. Hugs to all.
We bought JR a pair of Babiators and she's obsessed. She wore them all night in the house, during story time, while brushing her teeth, and thankfully took them off for bedtime. But, of course when she woke up this morning I heard her saying, "glasses?" over the monitor over and over.
I would probably leave her with your MIL. We brought Elena to a funeral when she was tiny, and that was okay but she still cried and had to be walked around the foyer for a while. Toddlers are notoriously bad at sitting still and being quiet.

Taking a sick day today. Probably could have muddled through it but I had little work to do and Thursday is my half day.
I feel ok as long as I'm laying down.
rayann687 my grandma passed when the big boys were just 2 and 6mo. We kept them home and no one questioned us. I can't imagine trying to wrangle them while I was crying and trying to keep it together.

It has been so nice to have H on big kid duty since the baby's been born. I think it's a little eye opening for him, the things I do all day. He looked at me the other day while cleaning up toys at the end of the day and said "you know, this is basically the definition of insanity..." But anyways, he's been mostly helpful. Which is great!

So ds found this song called I'm a Gummy Bear. V insists on having it on all the time. She screams when it stops.
Also houses in my area are flying off the market. My interesting neighbors listed their home. She is a marriage counselor and he stays home and makes this terrible honey spread that he sells at farmers markets. She messaged me last night to tell me they sold their home and are moving to Colorado to start a hemp farm. I do not care one way or the other about that but they are just so bizarre.
rayann687 sorry to hear about your uncle. I took Reagan to a funeral when she was an infant. It made people happy. I would NOT bring her now! Lol. It's alot to ask my kid to sit quietly. Savannah is different, she's more low key. But if shes feeling rambunctious that day, call that MIL! My pants ripped this morning. I have a sinus headache. Happy Thursday
rayann687, I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. Around here, there are always visitations either the day before the funeral or for a few hours prior to the funeral. We've taken DS to visitations but arranged care for the funeral. Can you do something like that?
lovemyirishtwins there's so few houses on the market around us and they're all selling within hours if they're halfway decent. I think we missed our opportunity to move last year
*Snip
This is where dh and I are torn. We want to eventually move to a neighboring town. We want to wait until I go back to work in the 2018-19 school year.
If we listed our house now without doing any work on it we could get about $25,000 more than we paid. If we do some work we could get about $35,000 more than we paid. We think it is worth waiting till I have a full time job and we have done work. I hope we are right.
There is a house I really like in the neighboring town. It has been on the market for a considerable time. It has 5 bedrooms, a finished basement, and a pool. But it needs a lot of work. That does not bother me.
Sorry for your loss rayann687. If you have someone to watch her I'd probably do that. I brought my kids to my great aunts funeral when they were 7 months and just over 2 and as soon as it got too hard my H left with them.

lovemyirishtwins - DS1 & DS2 were obsessed with the gummy bear song a couple years ago. They still occasionally will ask for it. I'm a gummy bear, yes I'm a gummy bear...lol. It gets stuck in your head. They were all about that song and the What Does the Fox Say one.
@forvermorgan this is why Sam and I go to Home Depot so much. It's the only place other than the grocery store that's open when I drop DD off at school. Everything should be open by 9!
I just emailed my two students who I have caught for plagiarism. I talked to another professor about it and she said to use the first offense as a teachable moment. I'm going to meet with each of them and basically pull up their paper with the plagiarism detector that highlights copied material and let the evidence speak for itself. She said to give them the option to take a zero or to rewrite the paper for a deducted grade. I hate confrontation...and I share an office. This should be...fun.

ugh...good luck with this. I hate it so much when I catch my kids doing this; it feels like such a personal insult to me for some reason. And even with the plagiarism detector, they always try to say they didn't do it.

I've had this experience too! My h is so much more connected with Henry now and it's been the best thing for them. Plus, he actually cares about the little things I'm constantly bitching about too (like, he doesn't just ignore it when we're out of milk or clean sippy cups and wait for me to discover/handle it.)
You guys. I got 9 hours of sleep last night. Not all in one stretch and I had to go to bed at 7:45, but I feel like a BRAND NEW WOMAN. I put caramel sauce in my coffee too so now I'm running around like a caffeinated, sugared up, well rested, maniac. Our cleaning lady is coming this afternoon so I have to kill 3 hours out of the house with the newbie. Ts and Ps for my wallet and diet, since I'll probably go to the mall and the food court.
yl I'm afraid they are going to come back at me because I told them they didn't need to list sources UNLESS they directly quoted information because it should have been more opinion. Well just because you didn't include " ", you quoted 2 pages worth of the source. I'd feel a bit different if they included some in-text citations. Nothing...
EmMilAlly Yep - quite handy! Mine is built into the program I use to provide feedback. It highlights all copied/matching text and you can click on it and will tell you what source it came from and the option to go to the source (if it's a webpage). I know a lot of older professors don't use it, but I sure do. Have never had an issue and now I have two on one assignment?!

I have honestly never understood plagiarism. Just use a citation, kid!
I was a TA in college and I saw some of the worst plagiarism on the easiest assignments. It was so weird... like they probably spent more time trying to figure out how to cheat than they would have to actually just do the assignment.
