So I just went to the dentist. I was sitting in the waiting room when almost half the ceiling fell in! Like tiles, lighting, vents, wires all over the place. Luckily no one was hurt ( I was the only patient there). But there was a bunch of dust and I started coughing so I went outside... Needless to say I'll have to reschedule.
Of course now I'm worrying about dust inhalation during pregnancy. Wish I could shut off that part of my brain!
cagoldi yesterday my sister's friend also spent the day with us. Apparently her and her husband are doing the vegan diet this month to see if it helps with his Cholesterol. I felt like I had a surprisingly large amount of vegan knowledge and I attribute that to you. The restaurant we went to for lunch happened to have vegan options. I did get meat with my meal but it was a pretty cool place.
Have any of your kids given up milk? Josie just seem to stop overnight. It's been a few weeks now. She wants water or water with lemon (or a splash of cranberry juice or grapefruit juice) instead. She eats well in terms of nutrition, but really small portions of things and I always relied on the mix of whole milk and almond milk for calories.
Sam gave up milk last summer. I pushed it for a few weeks, forcing him to drink it then realized he eats cheese and yogurt every day so I think he's getting enough of whatever he needed from the milk. every few days I asked him if he wanted milk with his meal and he always said no. About a month ago he said yes out of nowhere, and I gave it to him. Now he maybe has half a glass 2-3 times a week.

How are they liking it so far? Pete and my dad have seen an improvement in their cholesterol. I don't know if a month is long enough to do it, but it certainly can't hurt!
I have a list of resources and recipes I can send to your inbox if you want. I have it handy because one of the teachers at DC asked me for a bunch of info because she's trying to transition but doing the baby step route.
tgrimes1980 I'd skip naptime rather than do a late bedtime too. Nights are the roughest time for him and I would hate for him to be a total crankpot at the show

Millie has never been a milk drinker. Our pediatrician said as long as she's eating yogurt and cheese she's fine. She'll drink it in her cereal or in chocolate milk and in a smoothie but if it's just a glass of it she gags.
I think they are in the animal rescue community. Never talked to them before.
Red Pill Meninists who want to rescind women's right to vote.
I wondered, because your post was set to friends, but they seemed like people you wouldn't possibly be friends with!
I have a huge friends list because a lot of us cross post and network for animal rescues.
It makes for a lot of heinous assholes. All the vegans I know personally are intersectional and all around amazing activists for people and animals. Unfortunately, there are a lot of jerks out there on the interwebz and some of them also happen to be vegan.
LSS: there is an ongoing conversation within the AR community about our involvement in human social justice issues.
Some people think, basically, "fuck them. If they're oppressing animals, I don't care that they're oppressed."
In addition to that attitude making you a major jerk, it's colossally stupid because we are the only movement made up entirely of allies. So alienating people by saying, "I don't care about your issue, but here's why you need to care about animals" is a shitty strategy. That doesn't help animals the way they think it does.
It's especially annoying on days like IWD when they'll talk about how feminists should be vegan but that is the only time you care about feminism? Like it never occurred to you that is a two way street? In doing that, they become the hypocrites they hate.

Layla rarely drinks milk at home. I buy full fat dairy everything, so I'm not worried about it. She has milk at school somedays, but she mostly has water.
Where are you fine ladies?!! Come say hi...you are missed!
Hi loves!
I'm struggling a little, I'm sorry I've keep flitting in and out here. I appreciate that you guys always give me a shoutout when its been a while. My workday just normally keeps me busy from the minute I get here to the minute I leave. Anyway, enough excuses, I love you guys.
For those of you who don't know what the "Red Pill" is, it's a group of misogynists who advocate for corrective rape, forcing women out of the workplace, women should be docile little creatures, seen and not heard, etc.

Hello. I had a busy morning with daycare drop off, meeting with a tax guy, and a Costco run. This was my late week at work, but I only got 2 days of actually going in late and they were filled with errands. I'm a little salty about not getting a day to just lounge. Oh well... such is life.
About to throw some meat on the grill for dinner tonight. Nothing else but heading in to work soon after I finish grilling. Hope everyone had a good rest of the day!

Thanks. I'm not sure when they started and I don't want to step on toes since I don't know her very well. It sounds like she's been using minimalist baker and a few other websites I've heard you mention. She was happy by the news that oreos are vegan though.

M will only drink milk with a little chocolate Carnation good start mixed in. He has a little most mornings and every night before bed. He doesn't eat cheese, but eats yogurt pretty regularly. Other than that it's water or watered down juice for drinks.

Glad it's going so well for her thus far. She can't go wrong with Minimalist Baker. She has so many great recipes.
I haven't clicked the link cagoldi, but serious wtf. I've never heard of this movement. Seems like it would be extremely unpopular with everyone.
One would think, but no.
Since they are part of the Alt-Right, they're not as obscure as you want to believe considering that is the Neo Nazi wing of the Republican Party who *very* enthusiastically supported and continues to support a certain kind of misogynist Commander in Chief.
Wonderful news melaniesue05! I'm so happy for your dad and family.
+whatever to constantly nagging/rushing my kid out the door. For ex, this week we cannot get into the car without checking out progress on the new roof at the neighbor's house. Omg, kid, it's just gray shingles. GET IN THE CAR.
@peachsmama IMHO, the lead-up to extended separation is worse than the actual separation. When DH left for Bahrain for a year, I remember thinking, I just want him to go so we can start the countdown til his homecoming. I can imagine that the date switching back and forth would be really challenging psychologically. Hang in there; big hugs.

One of B's favorite stalling tactics is pretending she has to go #2. Before, we go anywhere I always make her sit on the potty. She will pee and then continue to sit there. I'll keep asking her if she's done. "No, I'm pooping." She'll continue to sit and do absolutely nothing. In fact, she did it this morning! Why do you just want to sit there, kid?
Back from the salon, C was an absolute doll and everyone fell in love with her. She sat on my lap the entire time just smiling and hiccuping and checking herself out in the mirror.
Coincidentally, my mom's BFF was the appt after mine, so she was thrilled to get to see us, snuggle Caroline, etc.
DH is home and surprised Bradley at preschool pick-up. B seems to already have calmed down a notch.

And... my gas grill just ran out of gas, right after I put the meat on. No time to run to exchange it before work, and come back, so I guess that will be MHs job after work.

C drinks sooooo much milk. Like, too much. I'm trying to cut him back. MH drinks a lot of milk and now L is drinking it too, so we go through a lot. If he weren't drinking it I wouldn't be concerned though, he has a good enough diet.

Anarcho-captalism — which is to actual Anarchism what National Socialism is to Socialism (or what American Libertarianism is to actual Libertarianism) — is the most popular philosophy among those who were profoundly affected by having read the Wikipedia summary of Atlas Shrugged at some point in college, and are not particularly smart but wish to pretend to be.
Yeah. I laughed.
Anarcho- capitalism isn't a legit brand of Anarchy.
You might have seen footage of the protests last weekend in Berkeley? I saw Ancaps (Anarcho-capitalists) wearing the American flag on every article of clothing. I only know they were Ancaps because I saw them carrying Ancap flags (yellow and black).
Um, hyper nationalism and Anarchy don't work together, guys. You're doing it wrong.
I don't know if you're familiar with Murray Rothbard, but he's considered the founder of Anarcho-Capitalism. One small problem, even he said no, their philosophy is not Anarchist in nature.
Rothbard is known for statements like "parents have no moral duty to take care of their children thus in a truly free society they can starve their children."
And this gem, "in a truly free system, there would be a thriving child market." As in, buying and selling of human children and that's...desirable?
