Thanks leahks77. A coworker said something that hit home for me today. It's actually a reference to the birthday party episode in This Is Us. Maybe SS is like Randall. I won't say more just in case anyone hasnt seen it, but it got me thinking that I should stay attentive to my concerns but try not to stress so much.
On a lighter note, rivers and roads, did you see that Love season 2 is coming out on Netflix soon?

Yes! Very soon! I can't wait. I want to rewatch season 1 for fun.
SS went out with his grandparents (mom's parents) tonight and they didn't bring him back until 9:45pm and had him positively jacked up on sugar. I am livid. This is the second week in a row they've done this on a school night. We're trying to be nice by allowing them a weekly dinner, but I have a feeling DH is going to seriously reconsider if it's a good idea to continue considering they have no respect for limits and bedtime.
Can you give them an ultimatum? They need to respect you and your DH. Give them one more chance to bring him back at a predetermined time. If they don't then dinners are over.

I expect that's what DH will do. He wasn't here when they got back, but he just got home from band practice and I told him. He is not pleased.
