I thought I'd write this while it is fresh in my mind.
BG: I'd had issues with spiking BP during the last month of appointments with my MW but the spikes were always borderline, always came down before I left the office, and were in the normal range during at-home monitoring.
On Mon (3/6) my BP spiked again at a regular MW appt and wouldn't come down. Since I was due the next day, everyone agreed it was best to induce. I went and got lunch, got my things and met up with DH, and we checked ourselves in.
I was not dialated or effaced, so we tried Cytotec to get the party started. I felt cramping and irregular contractions but didn't show any change after that, so they put in Cervidil at 11 pm and I took a sleeping pill to rest.
Tues (3/7) I was 1cm after 12 hours with Cervidil so they left it in for the full 24 hours. I was still mostly feeling crampy at first, then had regular contractions about 3-5 minutes apart by noon. At 8 pm my water broke, and contractions got much more intense. But unfortunately I was still only 1 cm. They added pitocin, and I couldn't handle the frequent and intense contractions from that. I also was shaking uncontrollably for about an hour and couldn't move much to cope with the pain. So I opted for an epidural so they could increase pitocin and move me along. I'll admit to being a huge drama queen pre-epidural - I know I kept repeating to DH "What have we done??" But the contractions on drugs were no joke, especially after being at the hospital for 2 days.
Wed (3/8) I was 8 cm and 80% effaced by 5 am. I was able to labor baby down (I had a great epidural that left me a lot of control over my legs) until it was time to start pushing a little before 1. It took me about 90 minutes of pushing, but I'd call it 'quick at the finish' because baby went from not crowning, to crowning, to out within 1 contraction.
Tl;Dr Induced at term; after 26 hours of active labor baby girl arrived at 2:13 PM on 3/8!
