My grandma used to do our Easter baskets and they were always just a ton of candy- including the big chocolate bunny- so the idea of toys for Easter is still weird to me. But also, my kids don't need a ton of candy.
I like the idea of swim suits and little outdoor toys...because we don't need one single more toy or book inside our house.
A Mickey bubble wand, a bracelet, sidewalk chalk, a wind up bunny, a plush Yo Gabba Gabba toy, and a Mickey recorder. I'll add a chocolate bunny too.
Someone from Parenting posted a Party City coupon and I went HAM. All done minus candy and egg fillers. If you hunt outside- chocolate melts! We usually do a fruity candy, stickers, little erasers and a few dollars crammed in a selected few eggs. The inside eggs do have chocolate so I get enough to steal from them. LOL

I think ours will have bubbles, for the big kids we will include some blind bags, a book, a couple small snacks, and a movie for the three of them to share. We recently bought Moana and A Bug's Life so I don't feel we need three movies.
I usually go the outside items route too. They have a lot of things already but I'll do bubbles and maybe a bubble machine. The machine was a big hit last year and ours might be broken. Some pool floats and toys. I usually get a kite. My daughter already has 3 pairs of sunglasses and DS has a pair around somewhere too. I already bought bathing suits for DS and I'll want DD to try hers on. I go pretty light on candy. I do buy them a chocolate bunny, but one of the smaller versions. We have a huge Easter egg hunt at the church so they will have plenty of candy.

Mine are small as we are trying to keep stuff out out of the house. Bubbles, find the duck book, bath crayons, new shirt . Probably a few more things. Big kids have activities books
Sunglasses is a good idea. I ordered a few new schleich animals for her farm- ducklings, a rooster and a lamb. I also got a matching game at HomeGoods.
Are babiators the best for sunglasses at this age? She has a pair that are almost broken because she likes to twist them. Can babiators withstand abuse?
Yes. I've run them over with the Vista and stepped on them, and they're still working just fine. Plus with the guarantee, if they didn't hold up, they'd send you a new pair.
Ya'll are the reason the Easter aisle is empty and we're still a month away! Quit screwing me I usually shop 1-2 weeks out.
The displays at Target are perfect for people like me and yl that don't actually know when Easter is tho!
Get thee to Target, pronto!
I did remember that I bought R a very expensive PB basket last year, so now I have some amount of time (?) to find where I stored it and also get myself to Target for some things.
DS2's is going to be pretty minimal since he doesn't know what the heck is going on. a small toy, a boardbook, and and chocolate of some kind bc he is a chocoholic. for DS1 probably a couple of small toys or mini lego sets, a book, and a small amount of candy. he also gets to do an easter egg hunt at my aunt and uncle's, so he is going to get plenty of candy there.
PSA: your kid will eat ALL THE CANDY in the basket if given the chance, so don't put in a lot! i have learned to just fill up a couple of plastic eggs with candy and reserve the rest.
I got Kara a beach towel since she needs one for this summer. Everyone always gets a book, and I may get Moana, too. Maybe sunglasses for the boys.
We also got tiny pokemon figurines to put in the eggs. Along with that, we always do the Annie's bunny snacks- fruit snacks and crackers. If I find a decent (read: small) chocolate bunny, they'll get that. No chocolate for egg hunts, though. Easter in Houston= hot.
I've accidentally gone over the top this year. I thought I bought a lot for DD1. So the I bought a lot for Ella. And then I realized I had too much for her so I bought more for DD1 *hangs head* But, if you're looking for a fun game, we played this at a friend's house and both my girls loved it. It wasn't too advanced for Ella or to baby for DD1. m.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=13205350
We're doing a Moana theme this year. The kids are obsessed and DS only wants a Maui hook. It's all he talks about so I *had* to get that. And the Moana book with cd is like $4 on Amazon so he'll get that too. DD is getting the Moana soundtrack plus a book and some gel pens. Not sure about Sam yet. He's obsessed with the talking Maui so maybe that?

How do y'all do the egg hunts? We have an almost 5 year old (Bonus son), a 21 month old (the Bean) and a 6 month old (the Beanette). Would it be stupid to assign each kid an egg color and put up a little sign which reads: Bonus Son: (orange egg) Bean: (blue egg) Beanette: (pink egg) And then let each hunt for their color so Bonus Son doesnt snatch up every obvious egg out for the Bean? Then both boys can help the Beanette find hers? Is that too obnoxiously type A?

That's a really cute idea! In my (extended) family, we would give the youngest ones a big head start. Then after 5 or so minutes, the bigger kids would start.

kellyinhb my Easter bunny always did eggs by color- three colors each. In fact the bunny still does as my mom always does the hunt for my kids (this is one of My favorite jobs to outsource!
thiscoffeechick, we've done it by color before! My oldest liked that because we hid the eggs for him in a lot harder places and told him how many there were. He likes challenges like that, lol! I'm not sure Kara will go for that this year because she's a beast
We'll probably let Kara start a few minutes before the boys this year and then let the boys go. My 7 year old is pretty good about avoiding the easy to get ones.
When we get together with family, we've done scavenger hunts with the reading kids. Each egg has a new clue, and it all leads to a prize/their easter basket.
I picked up the goodies this week all from Walgreens and Target:
blue felt basket with chick filled with bubbles, a ribbon dancer type toy, a Mickey Mouse tambourine, sidewalk chalk, a glitter filled wand, and foam bathtub alphabet and numbers, socks, and a stuffed bunny.
