On the plus side, I *think* my car is going to be ready for pick up today! We have a pretty big snowstorm hitting us tomorrow, and that's when they wanted us to get the car. MH is going to call the dealership today to see if there is any way we can grab it tonight to avoid having to go out in the middle of the blizzard. Also, wtf Mother Nature??? Whyyyyy a blizzard?! I'm so hoping work is called, but since I work for a bank they hardly ever close (because obviously EVERYONE will be running in to open checking accounts in the middle of a blizzard...).
Dd2 went down with no crying and slept 845-515 straight. I can't even believe it. I just fed her right away because that was so much better than I thought she'd do. So I'm sure she was just hungry. Then she went down for another hour and a half. I double sleep sacked her too. So I wonder if she's been a little cold. Today I have to go in for my review. Which I'm a little nervous about because it's a new manager who used to be a coworker. And she seems to be more of a stickler for administrative stuff when I really focus on clinical stuff. If that makes sense. My mom is coming to watch the girls while I do that so I'm hoping to be able to visit with her a little too. I'm hoping DHs work gets called off tomorrow for the snow, but we'll see.
hikingmama222 I went with the Chevy Traverse! AWD, captains chairs in the second row, and SO spacious. It was such a smooth and quiet ride (compared to my current Jeep Patriot). I am super excited about it!

sanibel21, yay for a good night! I hope your review goes well. adouces06, I hope you're able to get your car today and that you don't have to go in tomorrow.
G flat out refused to sleep anywhere but on me last night. N came into the living room at 4 saying he was hungry. He fell asleep again around 5:15 while I was trying to feed G. G dozed for a bit in the swing while I showered, and then woke up as soon as I got out. I ended up holding him until a little before 7, and put him in his crib. He slept until 7:45, just as MH got home from work. N woke up a little after 7 and seems to be back to normal. We kept him home from school just in case he still had the diarrhea.
I'm hoping we'll know today if the courts are going to be closed tomorrow. They usually don't tell us until later in the evening or early in the morning. One news channel says 12-18 inches, and another says 15-25. If I know tonight that we are closed tomorrow, I may suggest starting sleep training. At least we can take turns checking on G if we're both home.
smallpotato we had issues getting DD to sleep anywhere but on me too last night. I'm thinking it's because she's smack dab in the middle of a leap because she is never like that. All she wanted was to sleep with my boob in her mouth. Hopefully tonight is better for both you and me!
sanibel21 yay for sleep and good luck with your review!
I'm off today and then will work Tues-Fri. I'm glad to have the catch up day after being gone all weekend....except I'm currently playing here instead of "catching up." Eff grocery shopping. OMG I hate it so much.
We had a wonderful weekend away. Basically, we ate and drank at places we've never been before, and that's fine with me. Hopefully this little getaway gets us through...the next time we'll have time to ourselves will probably be August.
So, DS2 has been rolling belly to back for quite some time now, but had never really done it in his crib yet (he's a tummy sleeper). Until last night. Around 11 he woke crying, pissed because he was on his back. Between that and the coughing he did a couple times, and me being all off from DST and vacation, I didn't sleep well. Resisting the urge to nap.
Oh! We have snow today too. 😩😩😩 Seriously, we have maybe an inch right now and all the local schools are closed. I guess everyone forgot that this is MI??? I mean, we haven't had measurable snow since probably January, but people really didn't think we were done with it, did they??
We went to the circus this weekend. My sister had a contact with a suite so we got to be up off the floor and have our bathroom for the kids and private area for them to move around. It was so nice. Lots of little kids and they were loving it all. My son seemed a bit overwhelmed. We tried to explain what the circus was and he didn't understood at all. Now he does, lol. It's going away though. No more circus... I told my dad it's probably because Trump deported all the performers.

adouces06, fingers crossed for both of us! This has been going on for over a week, and I'm pretty much over it.
Oh, and because I'm a glutton for punishment, I told MH I would go grocery shopping after work so he wouldn't have to go today with both boys. That should be fun.
DST didn't really mess up anything for us. +1 to the huge storm expected for tomorrow.
This morning I am in a RAGE. I want to literally either burn my house down or just throw out everything in it. I am so tired of clutter. DH is a slob. We might have to have a little CTJ talk about it.
adouces06 - Congrats on the new car! We're kind of in the same boat for work. I'm hoping my office closes, but I'm not coming into work no matter what. My kids aren't going to have school tomorrow and I'm not driving them anywhere in a blizzard.
becole - We made sure to buy Ringling Bros tickets because we took the girls a couple of years ago and they LOVED it so much, as did me and DH. It's so sad that it's closing after so many years. It's really a wonderful show. Ours is at the end of April.
I'm going to venture to the grocery store during my lunch break. I forgot to get ground turkey this weekend and my kids have been begging for their favorite meal the requires it. And I didn't realize that we're almost out of peanut butter, which is not good! Hopefully the store won't be too crazy.
This is what two of the local TV stations are predicting for tomorrow in CT:

adouces06, congrats on the new car, glad you love it. sanibel21, so happy for you! Was about the same here, also feed DS when he woke up because I figured after 8hrs he'd be hungry. Hope she repeats for you tonight. @snuff9861, I'd be pretty ragey too. GL with the talk.
Praying for no snow days here. Our DCP goes by the local school district. I really don't want to have the baby at home while they're replacing the floor. I could go to a friend's house (lots of teacher friends) but that's still super awkward and inconvenient. But people are saying we're gonna get half a foot. Q_Q

jwinct, every time I see an updated snow map, I cringe. I'm actually more nervous about the wind at this point since I'm on the shoreline. 60mph gusts tomorrow night? No thank you. N was upset that a light bulb went out last night; he'd probably flip out if we lost power. We do have a generator, though, so it would only be temporary if the power went out.
I've been fielding calls and emails all morning from people asking if we're open tomorrow. My officemate referred to today as "Continuance Monday," since most of our calls today will be from people looking to reschedule court events scheduled for tomorrow. Our program policy is to reschedule if people call and don't feel comfortable driving in the snow. I'm hoping our judge will just let us preemptively reschedule tomorrow's cases today, so it will be less to do on Wednesday (assuming we're back in the office that day).
That would be aggravating to have a dcp go by the schools because I feel like the schools are out sometimes because they don't want kids waiting at a bus stop in the cold or they can't get out to their most rural area by bus so they have to cancel the whole district for like 10 kids. It makes more sense to go by common sense if you can actually get out of the house or not. Schools seem to close all the time. My daycare center doesn't close unless it's a level 2 or 3 emergency which means you can be ticketed for driving if it's not an emergency or medical personnel.

For sure. In the 3 years we've had a child in DC, our center has never been closed due to weather. Once, they sent out an email at 3pm asking if people would pick up early if possible because of an impending ice storm.
macaronmama I'm assuming tomorrow will be a snow day, though I'm hoping it's better by Wednesday.
May have to seek refuge at a friend's then.
When floors are being redone in a kitchen, will I have access to it to cook? I just realized I forgot to ask and haven't planned... Save me from myself, guys.
I don't know WTAF happened or is happening at my local grocery store, but they had just about everything off the shelves and in random carts down the middle of the aisles and probably every employee that they have working to restock shelves. It took me an insanely long time to find everything I needed. Did I mention I hate grocery shopping?
DNW all this snow. We're forecast to get just 3-5 by tomorrow morning, which is more than enough for me. Y'all can have that 12-20".
I'm jealous of @kitchen's cleaning lady interview. MH said when I went back to work FT we could have one....
I need to vacuum and sign DS1 up for swim lessons. Will be back to check in later! (I feel like my posts are mostly random thoughts now)
britta does anywhere near you do online grocery shopping and delivery? I'm weird and like grocery shopping but I know a lot of my friends love it.
We're headed home. Roads are clear luckily. We're stopping to take lunch and some presents to a resident in a group home my Mom used to take care of (when they lived in Southern MN). My Mom had a connection with him and stayed in contact over the years. He has no family living so every year at Christmas we'd have a meal with and he'd buy all the kids presents. Well this year Mom was in the hospital then passed right after Christmas, so he still has everybody's presents and nobody made it up to see him. I'm so happy to stop and visit because it makes me feel like I'm carrying on my Mom's legacy in a way.

britta, it could be an aisle reset based on your description. That's probably not the best thing to do when a snowstorm is coming. When I worked at the supermarket in high school and college, it was always all hands on deck the day before a snowstorm. There were times I would get called in on snow days to work since I lived two miles away.
fem, I love that. I'm sure he will be so happy to see you, and your mom will be smiling on all of you during the visit.
Our day care doesn't necessarily go by the school district. I've been called twice to pick N up due to early closings, but the town schools were closed the whole day. The other times it has been closed have been on days that N would not be going anyway.
fem - That is so incredibly sweet of you. I know your mom loves that you're doing that (because I believe she knows)!
Thank you. This made me tear up in a good way. I hope she's watching.
Do you ever notice anything a little out of the ordinary and wonder if it's a little sign from her? This is really a question for anyone here who has lost a loved one. I completely believe our loved ones do that for us when they can. DH and I have both had a few things happen that we're sure were acknowledgments from deceased family members. One example is when my family was all together at my grandparents' house planning the gathering at the house that was going to be after the funeral, my sister was writing a list of food that we were going to make and bring. My brother's (now ex) wife said she would bring her mandarin orange salad. My sister tried to write it and the ink wouldn't come out of the pen. She scribbled all over the page and wrote other things, the pen was fine, but if she tried writing that one thing - no matter where it was on the page - the ink wouldn't come out. My grandfather, who liked just about everything, HATED that salad. He also had a wonderful sense of humor, and we were all hysterical laughing about it, which is what he would have wanted.
