We're all anxious over this storm. DH's company is reminding employees of the notification method for closing (which they never do), our office is making sure there will be at least one person here tomorrow or that there's someone who will at least be able to make it in if there's an issue. They're currently saying 12-18", and I'm over here hoping it's all a lie and we get nothing
The breast pump supplier emailed a week ago and said they would talk to my insurance and then send me a list of pumps to choose from. Hope they get back to me soon because I'm going to forget about it!
Random: Read this article and the related tweets (second link). Very interesting and not at all surprising. I would love to do this experiment in my line of work.
This is my life. I am a pretty smart woman, have a good legal resume, and am an awesome advocate for my clients. And yet, every single client questions me, judges push back in ways they clearly don't to the old white men they are cronies with, and when I worked in a firm? Forgetaboutit the clear different in way men and women were tested was incredible. The proving myself thing is so frustrating. I have multiple clients who run every piece of advice I give them by "their cousin, who is also a lawyer," despite my advice never once being wrong or different than what this "cousin" says. Thank goodness, but come on!
My husband is a lawyer who flies by the seat of his pants, learns things on the fly, and never gets questioned even in things he finds out later are wrong. No one even cares if he's wrong! He just gets a pass. I'd be crucified. Sigh. Sometimes I hate the world.
TTC since July 2014. CP March 2015. IVF #1 March 2016, 5R, 3M, 2F with ICSI. Transferred 2 on day 3. CP. Surprise BFP and then CP August 2016 (prep cycle for IVF). IVF #2: zero eggs retrieved IVF #3: 6R, 5M, 5F, 3 (2 8A and 1 11A) transferred, one "B" graded embryo frozen on day 5. BFP (at home 7dp3dt, confirmed 14dp3dt with 1552 beta) and U/S at 5w5d, 2 sacs and 2 yolks!
wannabmama - It's so completely ridiculous. Especially when you have a direct comparison to your H!
And not for nothing (pardon me for sounding snobby here for a minute...but I'm fired up) I went to a top ten law school, graduated near the top, and worked for one of the most well known firms in the country. MH went to an ok school, solidly in the middle of his class, and works for a little firm no one has heard of. To be fair, I actually think he is smarter than I am, but if you're just a random person going on the advice of your lawyer, why would my advice automatically be questioned while his is accepted?!
Don't even get me started on how women are always asked to take notes or make arrangement for good, etc.
Or how women are cut off in meetings at a waaaay higher rate than men.
I'm no shrinking violet so those situations drive me insane.

akraus2015 - Sorry for the long drive, but definitely an important class! We just signed up for ours (it's next month). H is certified but is glad for a refresher and it's been years since I was certified.
I just wrote out my birth plan! How many copies do I need? I printed 5, does that sound like enough?
Who all are you planning to give them to? I'm going to confirm with my doula, but my plan is to talk through it with my midwife and give her a copy if she wants one on file. Also my doula will have a copy and be familiar with what we want. Then I'm counting on her (doula) and my H to advocate for what I want with any other staff involved (e.g. nurses).

I just wish we would have booked it for a weekend or something. I won't even get to go home between work and the class. Makes for SUCH a long day.

ThankfulSnail, Our doula made us a crap ton of copies, way more than five. Basically one for everywhere. Each car, the hospital bag, her doula bag, etc. With the hopes that at least one copy makes it to the hospital to be put in my chart on birth day.
akraus2015 - Yeah, that's a long day. We had to do weekend classes because H can't guarantee anything about weeknights. Our birthing class is an all-day one, though, so will be intense!

I want to go on a babymoon. But flights to pretty much anywhere in April/May are outrageous. There's nothing fun within driving distance from STL in the spring. I NEED SOME SUN!!
ourcrazynavylife - As much as I love the look of white, if seeing dust/dirt bugs you, avoid it and go for the gray or black. What color are the walls and cabinet(s) going to be?

marshian we haven't totally decided on the wall color. It's either going to stay the same very very light gray color as the rest of our house or we might go for an actual color (would probably be some form of light green, blue, blue-green).

My hospital has a volunteer doula program so I won't meet my doula before I check in to L&D- but it'll be free, so I will take the trade off. I'd like a copy for her, then one for my chart... I remember being asked by eleventy different people last time if I had a birth plan (I didn't, my plan was "epidural immediately, IDGAF what else"). Not sure how many copies they actually needed.
