Big hugs mustloveerica! Evan had a feeding tube for a while because of puking. And he stayed in the nicu 2 days longer than Nora. It was awful to leave him there. Fx everything improves with Harper!
She's still in the regular nursery so I feel like that's a good sign. They would have moved her to the nicu if they were really worried. With her being in the regular nursery we are able to take E with us to visit which is really nice 😊

How long did he have a feeding tube? Did you see a good weight gain with it?
Hugs, mustloveerica! The feeding and supplementing and pumping was so hard, but we did manage to get the time down when Z stopped being quite so sleepy. I hope things improve for Harper soon.

They were born on a Sunday. Tue he projectile vomited and got a feeding tube. They let him eat via bottle until he wouldn't eat anymore and then gave him the rest via feeding tube. I think the tube came out on Saturday and he was discharged on Monday.
So talk to me more about OUBU when one baby is sleeping more hours that the other. Nora sleeps 5 hours at night and Evan is only at 3. I hate to wake her but if I don't then I'm up at 1am with Evan, 3am with Nora and 4am with Evan. By the time I get him settled down again, it's close to 5am and DD1 wakes up around 6am.

I would feed her at 1 with Evan, any chance you can put a really big diaper on her so you don't have to change it and you can dreamfeed? You need sleep. Healthy mama is pretty darn important to their well being.

thanks! I'll try it. good idea about the diaper. overall I'm getting more sleep than I was 3 weeks ago, but it's still not enough.

Consignment sale drop off complete! It decided to snow all day, but none of it stuck thankfully. I did get smacked in the head due to the van trunk hydraulics being fickle.

mustloveerica LT for Evie coming home, but I'm sorry Harper is not ready yet.
@callmekd Could you feed Evan at 1, Nora at 3, and then when you finish with Nora feed Evan again before going back to sleep? Alternatively, could you put Evan down for bed an hour earlier than Nora so he wakes up at 12 and 3?

I had a similar situation - my girl weighed more and slept longer and my boy needed to eat every 3. I did OUBU until I was confident that my girl could sleep until the next feeding (so, 6 hours). In the beginning I fed both at 10pm, 1am, 4am. Eventually, only my son ate at 1am and my daughter slept until 4am and I would feed them together.
Honestly, for a while I always felt like I was rolling the dice and it might backfire because if DD woke up hungry at 3am, I got no sleep. It only happened a couple times though.

So last night was weird - Nora went down around 10, Evan drank some more and fell asleep with the bottle in his mouth at 11:30. I set my alarm for 2am to dream feed them both. Evan drank 1 ounce and didn't wake up. Nora drank 2 ounces and didn't wake up. Both woke up at 4:30am. I feel like 5 hours of sleep for me was a fluke! Here's to hoping I'm not jinxing myself for tonight.

I hope it happens again tonight!!!
Honestly, it always surprised me how naturally mine started sleeping better. It started with dropping the 1am feeding, then the 10pm feeding. Now we are down to only 4 am, and I don't even do that all the time. I never realized how much I cherished sleep until I had babies.... haha.
Anybody deal with reflux or bad gas in a preemie on Similac neosure? I think our little guy may be dealing with both.... Either that or he is just now an unhappy boy. I think a trip to the ped may be in order for recommendations

Yes! Evan is fussier than Nora and I chalk it up to gas and mile reflux. We use gas drops and keep him upright after eating. I also put a blanket under his sheet so his head is slightly elevated while sleeping. Using the RnP helps too because he is upright.
Have I mentioned that DH is out of town for a work trip? He left at 2 a.m. yesterday, so we've survived two days without him. Only 9-10 more days! Thankfully the girls are back to only waking 1-2 times/night so at least I'm not a zombie.

That's a long trip!! Good luck! Do you have any reinforcements coming to help or are you planning to just power through?

Thanks. My parents are able to help some! Also, I shouldn't have mentioned the better sleep situation because L decided to be awake most of the night. Oh well!
My girls hate sleep. Well, they love it from 630pm-2am then they're awake every hour or so until I get them up for the day at 630/7am. I can't wait until we're in the new house and they're in their own room so we can ignore some of the wakings when I know they would go back to sleep.
We gave Z her first dose of Benadryl this morning. She was covered head to diaper in a rash from green beans. It makes me so nervous to introduce the most common allergens. When we talked to the ped at the last appointment, she was so confident Z wouldn't have food problems and told us to introduce the big allergens whenever we were ready. I'm so not ready now.

That's a long one! Best of luck to you. I hope they sleep well while he's gone.
I'm sorry you're dealing with so many allergies for her piccyami. That would be stressful. I'd definitely talk to the pedi again before trying out common allergens with her just to be on the same page.
I had my first encounter with an inappropriate question from a complete stranger. Some woman in the waiting room at my Ob's office asked me if I took fertility meds. 😳

That's totally the plan. We weren't planning on introducing any new foods for a while after the reaction to peas, but we didn't realize that she hadn't had green beans yet and daycare fed them to her. Z's immune system needs time to chill out.
requiressnacks, W has zero problems with food and they both love to eat. Formula, purees, puffs (they make ones that are longer, so they're easier to grab and eat), real food, whatever. Besides Z's allergies, food has been going great and it makes them so happy to have some of what we're eating.
In good news, Z fed herself her bottle this morning! She's been getting more and more independent about doing it herself, so I set her in the floor and she powered through all on her own. It was an absolute game changer!
W is perfectly capable of feeding himself, but he very much prefers that you do it. However, he doesn't usually have his bottle first thing in the morning because he still eats at night.

It's usually phrased as "are they natural?" Too bad asking directly about fertility meds leaves less room for creative replies.
ETA: You wouldn't believe how often people ask if twins run in my family or MH's family when we're out with all four kids. First, MH's family history doesn't matter. Second, yes there are multiple births in my family but that has nothing to do with the reason we have two sets of twins (I leave out the last part because that invites too many prying questions). I'm tempted to print up FAQ sheets.
Two sets of twins? Yes, 17 months apart. Twins run in the family? Yes Are they natural? None of your business. Were they born naturally? Also none of your business. Are you breastfeeding? See prior two answers. Two boys? No, a boy and a girl Identical? Um, no. Boy and girl. Fraternal or paternal or maternal? *blink blink* Fraternal. [Congratulate my husband on his fertility.] That's not the way it works, people. You must have your hands full. Yes, I do. Did you try for twins? Yes, it's just more efficient to have them two at a time. I always wanted twins. Good for you. Better you than me. Obviously. You must be lucky. I think so. Bless you! Thank you. You look great! This is kind of awkward, but thanks. They're adorable. Thank you :-)

Oh no! So advice we got from a friend with major allergies in their family was to drive over to the ER and sit in the parking lot and give the kid a bite or two of whatever food and wait. Worst case scenario, you carry them into the ER, no frantic phone call, no waiting. I'd probably ask to see an allergist- ours offered to do a good trial in the office anytime.
