Hi ladies,

I was active on your board until we had a late loss (21w5d) and I had to exit. After our TFMR, I posted our story on FB and it went viral. I turned that into an Op Ed which the Washington Post, which you can read here:

I am not here to try to change your mind, but just show how complex this issue can be, and how hard for people that have to make terrible choices, and share the complexity of abortion.

doves654 I'm so proud of you. I can't tell you how many times I've written something up that echoed your feelings and experience but didn't end up posting. Our first pregnancy ended up being a partial molar pregnancy which wasn't suspected or diagnosed until the 20 week ultrasound. We heard a heartbeat at the 15 week doppler. By the 20 week our baby had passed already, but I often thought about what we would have done/had to do if he/she had not passed naturally. My baby, who was diagnosed with triploidy (an entire extra set of chromosomes) would have never been compatible with life. Meanwhile, I had a cystic, cancerous tumorous placenta multiplying in size within my uterus and could metastasize and require chemo the longer it was left alone.

There are so many horribly sad but completely valid and loving reasons to choose to terminate a pregnancy - it is NOT black and white, and sharing your story will hopefully shed some light on that for some people. Broad sweeping laws that don't take these instances into account are soul crushing. Thank you for sharing. I have been thinking of you and all of our M17 loss mamas this month.
