Morning. It's sleeting and nasty here. I think H is working from home today which should be interesting with a baby and a toddler who will love his constant attention. Oh and I need to pack!

We're getting our air ducts cleaned today so H took C and the dog to his parents house for the day. They just left and I'm here completely alone and it's really weird. I don't remember the last time this happened.
DS was awake last night with growing pains, I think--DH handled it but it was a weird night. Then I woke up around 3 and couldn't fall back asleep. Meanwhile the baby slept will no problems 😜
Carpet installers are due this morning and C has her 4-month check-up, so it will be a busy day!
Woke up to snow! The dogs love it, me... not so much when I will need to pickup DH on Thursday!
I ordered $100 worth of German dvds on zulily yesterday. I asked DH to pick up some board books in Germany when he flies through this week. I know baby is too young but I have/had a plan of raising him to be multilingual. I'm Puerto Rican, I look Hispanic but only speak school Spanish. As 2 engineers, we figured learning German which wasn't offered to us, would have been helpful. (My first ship was a used German vessel and had most things in German on it) plus miraculously NH and Boston both have German immersion schools and Vermont has an immersion sleep-away-school! Plus they had cute placemats that have Words in English, German, and a picture for the ASL. I'm sure these are designed for FTMs like me who think they can make their baby a genius by teaching them a foreign language and making them learn violin at age 3-4. But violin which they learn with parents, swimming, ice skating on hockey skates, and German is it till they start school. Promise! 🤞
Anyone else thinking of teaching their kid a language? Musical instruments?
Otherwise, my mom, and myself either have colds or allergies (it's all in our noses) and L is having gas issues. He acts like it hurts to pass gas but then feels better when he does. Just lots of crying until he does. I've cut out dairy, I usually avoid soy (breast cancer runs in the family) so we'll see if that helps.
cheshie6 my H and I have talked about getting Rosetta Stone a few times. And getting a piano. Our plan is to expose her to as much as possible so that she can find her own niche to enjoy. Whether that be crafts, sports, music, and so on. Neither of us grew up with those opportunities so we really want her to experience everything.

cheshie6 That sounds interesting! When I was looking for a job in the auto industry, I wish I would have learned Japanese. They did offer it at my high school too. The company I work at now is owned by Italians and my supplier is German but their plant is in Mexico. Pretty much any language would be good to know and I don't know any of them. I took 3 years of Spanish in high school but really only know the basics. I did grow up speaking Arabic but I lost that skill as I got older. I understand it decently but don't speak it much. My mom always makes comments about not wanting to confuse C with Arabic but we actually would love for him to learn it so I keep telling her to go for it!

HVAC guys are finally here. Sorry for the bitch and run yesterday, I'm just so grumpy. All will be ok, though. I'm thankful they're at least attempting this fix because the baby is in the house.

Omg vinolove. Sounds like he can build a playhouse with that! MIL has a basement full of the kids stuff and she's always telling us to take it. Umm no, throw it away. H already brought home some of his old ninja turtles and other stuff. That's enough for us.
cheshie6 MH is also Puerto Rican but doesn't speak much Spanish anymore. It's almost funny when he tries to speak to the kids because he has forgotten so much. My ILs speak Spanish but never to the kids, and we don't see them enough to make it worthwhile. Because we are in canada, we'll probably take advantage of public French immersion schooling. As far as music and sport, we'll try to expose as much as we can. O has gotten a lot of music stuff at daycare and we do soccer and swimming so far on our own.

Air duct cleaning is done. I should go run some errands before picking up the kid but I'm on the couch and don't feel like getting up. And it's cold outside.

WE HAVE HEAT!!!
This was just the most amazing thing. The guy brought his 17 year old son (wrote him out of school, even) and the kid rebuilt the entire motherboard for our furnace while his dad rebuilt the motor. Mind=blown on so many levels.
cheshie6 definitely on the musical instruments. I actually want to learn to play something and was thinking when W gets a little older he and I can do something together.
Hi ladies! Sorry I didn't get to check in yesterday. I did lurk the thread, but it's almost impossible to post when I am dealing with both of these kids solo. I expect much of the week will be like this since my nanny won't be back til Monday.
MIL came over in the snow and took DS to her house for a few hours this morning. God bless her. It's starting to look pretty bad for visibility though so I might have her bring him back soon so she doesn't have to go out again anymore.
DH is working from home but feels the need to constantly remind me that it is "a real work day." Fucking I know, dude. You're the one with the attention span of a Tic Tac. If you're not productive when you WFH, you have no one to blame but yourself.
LOLZ dashook. My H already told me last night that if they get early dismissal at work he will have to come home and work. And I told him I will try my best but B loves the crap outta him and will want to sit on his lap and hang out with him. Then he said he would probably just stay at work hahahaha. Ok bro.
Omg h working from home is awwwwful. Especially since he used the kitchen table aka the main part of the house. Your H made the right choice for your sanity.

Suzuki method asks parents to learn to help out at home as well as to make sure it's fun for your LO! Learning was my plan too.

I hate it. My house reeks because he has lit every scented candle in it (?!??) and also turned on every single light.

I need to know. Are these "manly" scents like beer cheese and bacon? Or scents like sweet pea and lavender? dashook
They're Bath & Body Works candles. Mostly pumpkiny and cinnamony scents; some are beachy.
Long story is I used to be really, really into candles, from like middle school until a couple years after law school. But they got too cloying for me, plus I've read all kinds of stuff about how bad they are for you. So now I'll only light one like twice a year if we are having a party or something.
But MH during one of his recent "cleaning" sprees (where he doesn't clean shit but just unpacks things that have a perfectly good place already and moves or rearranges them) found a box of my candles and now lights the damn things constantly when he is in the house. I mean constantly.
