Age:
Milestones:
Challenges:
Funny/cute story:
How are you?
QOTW: Its March Madness and MH has me do a bracket every year. Are you into any sports at all and do you participate in fantasy leagues or March Madness?
Challenges: sleep. Especially bedtime. Since the time change she's been fighting sleep hard and going to bed late. I don't know what else to do to get her to sleep earlier.
Funny/cute story: Anything with her daddy. The two of them together is adorable. She's such a daddy's girl already.
How are you? Meh.
QOTW: Its March Madness and MH has me do a bracket every year. Are you into any sports at all and do you participate in fantasy leagues or March Madness? Not really. I used to be really into NFL, but then my sports hating husband came along and I couldn't even tell you the last time I watched a game. It's been years now.
Challenges: I think we are hitting another sleep regression, girl loves to party all week between 2-3am. Thankfully she's a happy partied so I just leave her and she goes back to sleep but I can still hear her.
Funny/cute stories: She's always been pretty good at independent time but yesterday I was in the kitchen grabbing her a bottle and she came crawling out crying. It was both pitiful and cute.
How are you? Not bad, trying to get back into an exercise routine. I hate exercise and I hate being fat. It's a toss up which I like less. Wahhhhhh!
QOTW: I enjoy sports but I'm not really into fantasy leagues and the like. Andplusalso March Madness it's really a thing here in Canada 😊

taberbtb, I hope you are able to get back into a routine with the exercise that you can tolerate! I pretty much hate any exercise that isn't walking or hiking.
HeyMrsPotter, I am so glad to see you here!! I hope the diaper rash goes away soon. Soon you will be a ninja when it comes to changing them without having them pee all over you.
@led, I hope you are able to get some more sleep soon! How is she feeling otherwise?

Age: 7 months 3 weeks
Milestones: He is babbling a lot and is getting a lot closer to crawling.
Challenges:Teething still. For a minute there we were dealing with teething and a bad cold but luckily the cold is getting better but there is still now tooth/teeth that have broken through.
Funny/cute story:Every time he looks at DS1 he starts smiling and talking to him. It is so cute and melts my heart that they love each other so much already.
How are you? Tired but ok. Things with DS1 have leveled off but I am still working 10 hours of OT every week.
QOTW: Its March Madness and MH has me do a bracket every year. Are you into any sports at all and do you participate in fantasy leagues or March Madness? H has me fill out a bracket every year but I am not that into the madness or many other sports. I am happy if I can watch them live but am meh when it comes to TV. H goes as far as to make DS1 (7 year old) fill out a bracket based on team names.
Milestones: baby girl has mastered crawling, she does it on her hands and feet with her but in the air. It's so funny. She also is starting to pull herself up, she doesn't stand upright completely yet, but man oh man she is growing too fast for me. baby boy has gotten his top teeth, or well they are through now anyway. He wants to crawl and has moved forward a few times but doesn't quite get it yet.
Challenges: just life with 2. And trying to get enough pureed food in them. If we get some in every day we are doing well. But it's hard to find the time. But I have to get better at it. I think they are ready for more in their bellies.
Funny/cute story: I just love seeing them interact together. They laugh and smile and babble to each other. Typically when I am not in the room so I have yet to get it videoed.
How are you? I am having a rough time really. Just overwhelmed and tired. Mh is sick and not helping with the babies so they don't get sick. And it's just exhausting. Plus we are leaving to go to Canada in a week so packing and having the good stuff washed and what not is hard. I have been thinking on and off it may be time to go back know on my anxiety meds, but then I feel better again (it's been almost 5 years since I have been on them) and I think that's why I am holding back I just don't want to depend on them again.

Nothing like that here in europe. I will follow baseball a bit, but I am not a huge sport person.
Sorry I can't comment on the other posts, they just woke up. Just a half hour nap. I was hoping for more of a break. The have been up since 5 it's only almost 9 and I am already exhausted.

hollyberry 2 kids is tough and exhausting add in that they are both babies and it's really hard! Sending you lots of (((hugs))) I hope YH gets better soon so he is able to help more.
Milestones: baby girl is awake a lot more. It's both exciting, and exhausting.
Challenges: Im dealing with an oversupply of breast milk. I leak a LOT- and am making more than double of what she eats everyday. I'm exclusively pumping, and between feeding her, pumping and changing my shirts/showering, I feel like I am living in milk.
Funny/Cute Story: I feel like I don't have one yet! She makes really cute noises. I didn't have any clue newborns were so noisy!
How are you? Good for the most part. Today I had a meltdown about all the milk, but yesterday I cleaned the house, bathed her and made dinner, went to a mom group, and out to lunch. Just depends on the day, I guess.
glb30 omg, when Ridley was little, like the first two months before she came to bed with us, I had to run the ac just to drown her out so I could sleep! And she wasn't even in the same room! So noisy.

glb30 how much is she eating every day? Eventually you should see how much she eats start to level off after the 12 week growth spurt. By that time you should be able to just pump a little less at one or two sittings to try to eliminate that whole pump time or pump less at each sitting to regulate that way. You will want a freezer stash just in case too.
The engorgement does get better. I had oversupply for the first 3 months and then my body regulated after that.
sarcaztic10 I'm so glad to hear it gets better. She eats about 30 ounces a day right now- it seems to be going up the last couple of days. She always eats 3 oz, sometimes up to 5 oz., 8ish times a day.
@led haha! It so hard to sleep through. We are doing the same room right now- though we may be changing. She sleeps 3-4 hours at a time, so to the extent I'm not getting sleep it's totally bc she is a loud sleeper, not awake.

Age: 3 months
Milestones: DD is rolling onto her side and giggling a lot
Challenges: being away from her all day at work. She doesn't nap much at daycare and is exhausted by the time we get home.
Funny/cute story: She was giggling a lot yesterday at daycare. There's a video of it but I haven't seen it yet.
How are you? Doing okay, still adjusting being back at work even though it's been a month. I spent so much of DD1s life at work, I hate missing time with the baby
QOTW: Its March Madness and MH has me do a bracket every year. Are you into any sports at all and do you participate in fantasy leagues or March Madness? No I'm not big into sports, just occasionally follow the local teams.

renegadewhit I know that it's hard to want to BF and to be unable to or have obstacles and you are right fed is best. Sending you ((hugs)) it's hard. That being said, what makes you think he doesn't tolerate BM well? What are his symptoms? Silas has a few allergens I have to steer clear of or else his poop and mood change a ton. I would be willing to trouble shoot with you or just listen. I wasn't able to continue BFing DS1 and I know those feelings of disappointment can weigh on you.
mommytoava S did not (and still doesn't) nap well at D.C. And for awhile there I was wondering if I would ever see him awake during the week. Right about when he was 6 months old he started being able to stay awake longer and things have gotten easier. However we have a pretty early bedtime due to him not sleeping at DC.

his biggest symptoms are fussiness, gas, and general tummy troubles. He's just miserable, and you can hear his tummy rumbling. The only suggestion my doc had was to cut out dairy, which I can't really do right now. My diet is so restrictive to begin with that there's just not a lot I can cut out (though if I can, I'm willing to try!).
If he is tolerating formula well I would guess it's probably not dairy that is bothering him. DS1had a dairy allergy and the only formula he tolerated ok (still not great) was Nutramigen. Even on that he was just a fussy baby. He was always high maintenance no matter what I did. Are you using a dairy or soy based formula?
The next thing I would say could be bothering him is corn, eggs, or wheat. Also, some gas is normal in a BF baby as they get used to latching and figuring out how to eat. Silas had terrible gas that started to get better at around 12 weeks. We would bicycle his legs after every diaper change to get it out.
What does his poop look like after he has BM?
With S I basically have to eat pretty simple foods and snack a lot. I avoid dairy, eggs, and corn. I have lots of ideas for snacks etc. if you need them.

I've been loving all the things. Sorry I didn't respond to everyone.
Regarding feeding, it's all hard. I EBF my daughter and it was really hard. Now we're EP and it's really hard for a whole slew of reasons. renegadewhit - C is only having BM and he's a gassy baby, too. No known allergies, just gassy. His poops are normal, he is growing, and the pedi isn't concerned. Some babies are just gassy. Our pedi said it should get better around 3 months. FX!
Age: 5w yesterday
Milestones: He's in 0-3 month clothes now. It's crazy how big he is now!
Challenges: Gas and a little reflux. We're EP, so he's only getting BM for now. The pedi said it's normal and to give it time - It should improve around 3 months. FX
Funny/cute story: He loves the bath! He was so happy and flirting with J. My heart is very full at bedtime some nights!
How are you? I have mastitis again. Second time in 4 weeks. It's a combination of my oversupply issues and C refusing to nurse. I also have horrible psoriasis on my nips so that makes it all worse. Once I stop breastfeeding, the psoriasis disappears (happened with J, too). My body hates breastfeeding. Ugh
QOTW: We're a huge baseball house, so we watch some March Madness, but mostly we keep up with preseason baseball.

renegadewhit If you cut out eggs and corn it will take at least a week to start noticing any difference in how he tolerates it and the traces should be completely out of your BM in 3-4 wreaks. Try to increase supply and the amount you pump and the bottles given during this time or if you are comfortable with it you could try to get him to latch. If he has issues with latching and that is contributing to the gas I would strongly suggest a lactation consultant. There should be a couple located at the hospital you delivered at.
Once you start offering more BM keep an eye on his poop and see if there is any mucous or if it's a funky color like green. Normal BF baby poop could be a range of colors but mucous, blood, or frothy green poop is a sign of allergies or in some cases a foremilk and hindmilk imbalance. I am here if you have any more questions, want to talk poop, or troubleshoot things!
Just remember that any amount of BM is totally awesome and provides immunities and benefits but fed truely is best. I will be thinking of you!
Thanks for the tips sarcaztic10! His latch is great, but now that he's been on bottles he doesn't like to breastfeed (I think it takes to long vs the instant gratification of a bottle). I've been pumping more, so we may just pump and use exclusively bottles - formula or breastmilk, unless I can get him to be patient enough to breastfeed again.
Are you using nipples specifically for breastfed babies? Have you tried paced feedings? Those two things were what was suggested to me when we were supplementing with bottles at the beginning.

We're using the Avent Natural bottles with the slowest flow nipple. They're supposed to be good for breastfed babies. What are paved feedings?

Try pumping a bit until you get a let down and then latching him so he doesn't have to wait. Good luck!

Hey guys! I'm coming back from hiatus now that things are slowly calming down with DSs toddlerisms and DDs allergies. Can I come play? Age: 6 months
Milestones: rolling back to tummy, and tummy to back
Challenges: Food allergies/sensitivities. Cow's milk allergy was confirmed, and the second and third suspects are gluten and soya. She's had bad reactions when I've reintroduced them into my diet, but still nothing confirmed yet. Failure to thrive, sleepless nights, cramps, back reactions to solids. Short hospital stay after she rolled off the couch right on to her head and got a concussion It seriously happens in half a second, even if you're sitting right there! Crazy
Funny/cute story: I swear she makes strategic fart sounds (blowing raspberries) whenever DH bends over. It's almost every freaking time. It's ridiculously cute, and I know she doesn't do it consciously, but I thought it was very cute
How are you? I'm exhausted. Between the sleepless nights and constant consoling of DD, and DS's toddlerisms there's very little rest in my house. Solo parenting 3 evenings/nights and 2 days per week has been very challenging. I'm so ready for this outlook to change, but positive thinking hasn't quite gotten me there yet.
QOTW: Its March Madness and MH has me do a bracket every year. Are you into any sports at all and do you participate in fantasy leagues or March Madness? I'm sorry, what? What's March Madness? What have I missed?
