Decorating Ideas for B/G Twin Rooms

Does anyone have any decorating theme ideas for boy/girl twin rooms?

My b/g twins just turned 4 and I want to change up their room. We never really decorated well after they were born because life was chaos and we were just trying to survive. I'm looking for ideas that won't be too babyish and aren't based on any character themes. They'll probably continue to share a room for the next 2 years at least.

Any and all suggestions are welcome!

Are you just trying to stay away from licensed characters (Disney, etc.) or any type of character/story at all?

Basically just licensed characters. I'm not opposed to story type themes.

Ours is a circus theme, I figure like will be a circus when they came, and I was right! Lol we have circus animals pictures framed on the wall and a circus tent, from ikea, over the change table.

Our nursery is a puppy theme with lots of bright colors: yellow, aqua, coral, lime, gray, teal, white. I ordered some prints from Etsy that are in frames above their cribs, and a few other puppy-themed things: some stuffed dogs, dig silhouette chalk boards with their names, dog butt wall hooks from Ikea. It's pretty simple, but it works. I think the theme will work as long as they're sharing a room since it's cute but not too babyish.

Ours is sci-fi themed. We went with dark colors for the accents. We have posters of ships we bought from a seller on amazon and the fabric is Dr. Who.

We went with jungle animals but kept that to the accessories. Other themes we considered were forest, space, robots, travel...

We don't have a nursery right now but when we move this summer I am planning on a forest theme.

This has potential. Maybe an ocean theme with pirates or whales on his side and mermaids on hers. Hmmm.....

I like this idea too, especially if I can incorporate planets/astronauts and rainbows.

We are doing this theme for our nursery. I'm incorporating this wall mural from Land of Nod.

I just decorated and transitioned my 18 month old into his "big boy room" and I used a lot of the Target pillowfort line! Bright colors and easy to interchange for B/G. SO cute!

I have all girls, but we also love the Target Pillowfort line! Both DD1 and the twins rooms are decorated with curtains, bedding, and accessories from there.
