I wanted my kids to be close in age like my brother and I. We are 2.5 years apart. So we started trying a few months before DS1 turned 2 and got our BFP right around his 2nd birthday. So they are 2.75 years apart!
The first year was hard. DS1 had a hard time adjusting, especially since there were things he was used to doing with just me or just MH. Now they are so much better together and have similar interests like Thomas the train, building with blocks, coloring together, etc. I love that they play together more and that DS1 actually takes an interest in DS2. They do have their moments when they don't want to share but overall I love that they have each other as siblings and that they are relatively close in age.

marygracerich - It's not like they'd be only a year apart. If you got pregnant immediately, the oldest would be pushing 3, and by the 2.5 year age things calm a bit. They seem to understand what a baby is and aren't as jealous. I say go for it!
marygracerich I had so many emotions about my DS not being my only baby anymore, and would I be able to love another baby as much as him, and was I ruining his life by bringing in this brand new baby who will change his routine, etc etc etc???
I haven't had to worry about any of that at all. DD is 3 weeks old tomorrow and we love her like crazy, and DS is crazy about her! He has had to adjust to not being the center of attention but it's really not so bad, since he can entertain himself more easily now. He is watching more cartoons when we need to focus on the baby but he loves that too lol.
It sounds cliche, but she totally completes our family. I love that the two of them will grow up so close in age. DS is SUCH a good helper and he loves to be around her and talk to her and everything. I can't wait to see their relationship grow. Watching them just next to each other gives me a billion warm fuzzies already lol. I basically take like 50 pictures per day.
Full disclosure, my pregnancy with #2 was so much harder on my body and the post partum recovery has also been more tough physically (I had tearing along my previous scar tissue and SPD is still kicking my ass sometimes), but the labor was faster and easier. A lot of people tell me that the harder pregnancy was just because it was a girl but #oldwivestales and what not
cosmicav 😍 it's amazing how much our may babies look like big kids now.
Yes! It blows my mind how big these kids have gotten! I often look at DS and ask myself, who is this giant grown up child??? I guess that feeling is slightly enhanced by having a teeny brand new baby to compare them to lol.

J slept for 15 mins on the way home from lunch with DH. Got him home and in bed and then he pooped. So had to change him. He's now been fighting his nap for almost 2 hours. I refuse to take him out of bed until at least 4 which is when he usually wakes up from his nap. Ughhh. This is going to be a long evening until bed time and DH is away tonight.
There will be Wiggles parenting today. And wine for mama tonight.
We're going to the Fire Dept this morning with the Little Explorers Club. DS loves fire trucks so it should be fun.
Also, I'm wearing my new silicone menstual cup for the first time and I'm pretty excited about it. I hope I like it so I can ditch pads and tampons all together.
I love my diva cup. It's made my period a NBD situation and it used to be a BD.

I leave G in her crib for a minimum of two hours during nap time even if she doesn't sleep. This way she learns that should be quiet time even if she doesn't sleep. Also I need the break.

@hotcoconuts82 And anyone else with cup experience...my first day went pretty well. I think this morning I didn't quite put it in far enough and it was bothering me a little until I took it out and re-inserted. I even wore it to the gym which I wasn't expecting. I think I need to cut the stem. Do you ever have to push yours up after you've been wearing it awhile?
