rosesquared, Have fun! Post a pic if you feel like it.
M and I flew back to CA yesterday. She was so wonderful on our flights. Especially our second. So much fun to be with. And it felt like the whole first class cabin was playing with her. In reality, it wasn't the whole cabin but all the people around us. She would peek up and over our seat and down and across the aisle to wave, smile, and play with them. So cute. During boarding she watched everyone go by and she was greeting them with her social laugh and smile. The man next to us on our first flight said, don't worry about what happens. No matter what it's fine, I know what traveling with kids is like. I thought that was so friendly. We had a 6:30am flight and you know people probably wanted to sleep.
Settling back into life today. Hoping to go for a run.
Confession- one night on our trip after a couple of particularly restless nights, at 2:30am I ordered the No Cry Sleep Solutions book. It just came yesterday.
I'm in a breakfast rut. What do you all have for breakfast?
My sister and brother in law are in Vancouver this week. Think they are really liking it! Makes me want to go back. We went when I turned 30 but they were having the Pineapple Express weather pattern (warmish temps for the winter and HEAVY rain) so some of our plans were altered. We made the best of it and still got outside but I would like to go back.
Walking back from dinner last night, CET said how quiet the board has been. I hadn't checked in a few days but said just checking and reading doesn't produce activity and dialogue. You have to actually post. I've been guilty of just reading and not feeling like I have the time to post. It's so easy to feel like you're participating from reading it no one knows you've been keeping up (I guess unless you like something). So, since M is sleeping in today, I made it a point to actually post. Sorry- long rant over.
M just made some noise, off to say good morning to her .

cetcar We got that book from the library, just browsed it so far. Our overnights are back to being pretty good but naps have stunk. Can't win them all. I like the camping out method though.

We are en route to Toronto to the in laws. We'll be trying out our new Bjorn travel crib. We intended to leave after Is' morning nap... but she woke after 10 minutes when she had a huge poop.
So we were off!
Hoping she falls asleep in the car though, otherwise she'll be a little surly for our visit.
I have another interview Monday. It's with a family health team (docs). I'd like the job but not sure I want the position as its full time so I wouldn't have much time left over for private practice. Ideally I'd get something part time for the guaranteed pay. Part time social work positions don't come up all the time though. We'll see. Should probably talk to H about it on the drive though as it will come up with the in-laws.
May have found a part-time nanny but still no daycare. We're way down on the wait lists for the non-sketchy places. Toddler spots are a bit easier to come by. Visiting a Montessori place next weekend... but Is wouldn't be eligible until November.

Happy weekend everyone!
We've been eating oatmeal with raisins, grits with salt, pepper, and some cheddar cheese, and avocados on toast. Nothing too inspiring. Workdays, I eat Cheerios with cinnamon and banana. Glad your family had a fun trip!
We had an okay weekend. Feels like we've been more social over the last month than we have the last 2 years. Must be us wanting to get our time in with others before it gets super busy. Went to a surprise party last night, which was fun. And we saw Beauty and the Beast too. Today is all about laundry and relaxing. I'm still on sick leave till Thursday, so I'm trying to find recipes to use the Kodiak Cakes pancake mix up as it's expiring in a little bit. Give me something to do... I feel like a house! lol

Did you move to a warmer climate?? Hmmmmm, things to do... Grace and Frankie has a new season starting soon!
We are home after a good visit with the inlaws. I hate the Bjorn travel crib, unless you're built like an orangutan it's impossible to put down a sleeping baby that low/with high sides. We ended up just taking the mattress out and creating a floor bed, that ended up working well but won't when she can crawl. What do you use cetcar?
Today I'm wrestling with the sink drain. It's super slow with standing water after use. And the dishwasher didn't drain completely (same pipes.) I really don't want to have to call a plumber again. We just had them in to fix our shower head. I'd like to do dishes and use the dishwasher.
I'm also trying to do mental prep for my interview tomorrow. It's nerve-wracking because part of me doesn't even want the job. I want the job but not all the hours at this very moment. I really want the part time position I interviewed for last week.
bexincanada- Sleep when traveling always seems hit or miss for us. After a particularly rough visit sleep wise, my parents bought a crib and the same mattress she has here so that's been working pretty well. CET's mom bought a pack n play with a memory foam mattress. During Christmas, the thicker mattress really helped. She wasn't liking the thin mattress on the pack n play anymore. When we went to Chicago, we used the hotel crib for the first time. She slept pretty well in it but you did have to lean really far over when you put her down. We'll have to see what we do the next time we travel that isn't to family. I'm not sure if she will sleep on the thin pack n play mattress and therefore, it may not be worth the hassle of bringing it with us. If worse comes to worse, she could sleep in bed with us. My cousin sent me this link, I haven't tried it or read much about it but it looked interesting- www.guavafamily.com/?gclid=COGK3_v05NACFY9XDQodagAK2w

cetcar it was between the Lotus and Bjorn for us. They're quite similar. The zipper on the lotus may have helped to put her down from the side... but I'm not sure if zipping it back up would wake her. Regrets, I have a few. Should've went with the Lotus. I guess the main point is that it's tricky with a kiddo who tends to fall asleep in arms instead of going from awake to sleep in crib.
bexincanada, I wish we moved to a warmer climate!! We are still in northern Alberta... I'm just a furnace and wear as little as possible right now. lol
I just made a bunch of waffles with the Kodiak Cake Pancake mix. I'm going to make more and freeze them. Now I will have some easy, and healthier, grab and go breakfast options when the baby arrives. And I'm doing something with the mix before it expires.

Late to the party but we have that guava pack n play. We actually got the bassinet conversion for S. I like the side zipper door since you can potentially put in a sleeping child without dropping them from a height. Honestly it didn't work with O because she wouldn't sleep through the door zipper closing. It would work with S though as she is a much better sleeper. That's my 1 sec review!

Kona, just what I thought! Thanks for chiming in!
I may be better at learning to silently zip though than the physics of this Bjorn. I actually tried getting in it but then couldn't squat with my bum in enough to get low... it was really quite comical. I'm hoping Is becomes a better sleeper around toddler hood and it's still usable. If I could exchange it for the Guava I would... I bought it on Amazon though so it's too much of a hassle.

That image made me chuckle
Wow! Both seem to fold really small. That's nice! Our pack n play is still fairly big and heavy. It's awkward to take with us. kona and bexincanada, how are the mattresses? Fairly soft and cushiony?

The mattress is good, thick enough... way better than the Graco PNP. Because it does sit on the floor there's no weight limit. She could use it until bed-ready.
