So I am sure we have done this before, but thought we could start another idea sharing thread. I'm finding M is getting 'bored' with the billion toys he has. So I went down the pinterest rabbit hole this weekend and created a few activites to try.
Add your great ideas that work (or failed!). Pics if you've got 'em!

Sensory bags. Sealed with duct tape and taped to the coffee table. Filled with coloured rice, water/baby oil/sparkles, and coloured water beads (for plants).
I also have a couple taped to the sliding glass doors for activities in the other room.

r]Mack tack taped to the wall backwards. Trying different items to stick to the wall. One being paper towel roll, and then putting wine corks and pom poms down into the basket below.

-sand (8 cups flour, 1 cup baby oil).
RandomName M really enjoyed the moon sand. He was tempted to put it into his mouth, but not too bad with the different tools at his disposal. I did find another recipe for 'tasteable' moon sand, where you use vegetable oil instead of baby oil. I might try that another time.

rd made from an old picture frame. I added clothes pins (hot glue) on the edges to practice fine motor. Then cut out pieces for Mr Potato Head, as well as matching easter eggs from the dollar store.

taketheshot, I just want to be clear, I'm not normally this creative, especially lately. But pinterest helped And I think if there are simple little ideas we can share, that's great!

We did the sticky wall thing, but didnt use a tube- cant wait to try that. Also moonsand looks like fun but how does that much stay in the bucket? We have a shaker cheese bottle with straws as a car toy- he loves it!

Laverne , I was close by the whole time. There was definitely some on the floor when he was done, but he was liking to figure out the wooden spoon and a pastry rolling pin. Clean up was super easy because it's just flour, so not a difficult as sand or rice.

I do none of this. I'm crossing my fingers that daycare does a lot of it. Why else would I be paying them a bajillion dollars?! Seriously, though, we get 2-3 hours together on weekdays, so it's mostly eating, bathing, reading a few books, and bedtime. He plays while H & I are cooking and cleaning. I should probably do more on the weekends. Or leave them for my mom to do on the two days she has him.
I don't do a lot of this and I'm home with him. We try playdough, kinetic sand, and dry beans here and there but he usually tries eating it.
I've been wanting to get waterbeads because OT said my oldest would benefit from it too.

Same here! I love the ideas though!
For us, we go straight outside when we get home, either for a run or walk in the BOB, or to the park, or just outside our house to play with the neighbor kids. E shouts "DIDE! DIDE!" for "outside." He suffers great anguish being indoors. But I should remember some of this stuff for rainy days. I think he would love a felt board, actually, because he is obsessed with stickers and he always wants to re-position them!
@mrspanpan, we live the same life. However, with the time change I have been letting him run around outside before we even go inside. If I go in, I'm in and need to do a million things.

@mrspanpan, layloo08, esgrunner, really I don't do these types of things very often. Our routines are similar to yours, and we only have about 2.5/3 hours together in the evening and a lot of it taken up with night time routines (making dinner, eating, bathing). But recently I've noticed M to not be too interested in all the crap around our house, so wanted to mix it up a little, to keep him entertained so I can do the other things. I just thought we could share ideas of simple things our LO's like to keep them entertained as they are in a very busy phase of toddlerhood (well M is pretty busy anyways!).

taketheshot and runningmommy519 well we did the Marshmallow playdoh this morning. It was interesting. I think it was just too tempting for eating, so I probably won't try again until M is a bit older. However for older kids, it's not too bad. Once it cooled it was less sticky, but it was definitely a mess at first.
