1. Got a second interview for one of the jobs I applied for.
2. Frantically trying to set up meetings with potential nannies.
3. Had a good weekend, got to snuggle with 3 month old nephew. It's hard to believe Is was ever that small.
4. The weather today is beautiful.
5. A couple new private practice clients, potentially.
6. How do you US folks do it with work and baby... If I get this job I'd be full time and private practice Saturdays. At 10 months I worry Is won't cope well with the change. Hats off to you parents busting your butts at work while your littles are young.
7. I've got a sore throat and hope I'm not coming down with something.
8. We might take a trip out east this summer to see family. It's nice to think of a family vacation. I'll definitely be reading Baby Flyer cetcar.
1. I have a dental appointment for crown troubles tonight. Anyone wanna come and hold my hand/pay the exorbitant costs for me? 2. I got an email back from a potential new job-YAY! 3. Why can't I ever fall asleep during fertility acupuncture? My next appt is Thurs night and I know I'll just lay there for an hour waiting for sleep. 4. I'm having friends over because we've managed to keep the house clean for a week! 5. We're driving to Milwaukee to visit friends on Saturday-I wanna eat cheese all weekend! 6. I can't find my motivation to begin running this spring. Like, where is it? 7. I'm trying hard to keep up on these boards. Community! We need this community! 8. We can put pigtails in DW's hair if we continually feed her Fruit Loops. It took 15 of them today for 2 piggies! 9. I may/may not have had a white sangria at lunch today! 10. Why is it so hard to find mom/mom or dad/dad friends where we live? Jeez!
calsurb, Have you tried searching Facebook for rainbow family groups? We joined one near us and they have a monthly potluck. I had no idea there were so many Facebook parenting or Mom groups until someone suggested it.

Great idea, we're in a June 2015 mom's group but it's across the country and we're the only mom/mom family. I'll have to do some digging!

1) Came in 2nd on a bid today. 2) My bid board is empty so I have to do a schedule for an existing project 3) Driving to meet the new "client", on Friday, can I call them clients. I guess I can, since it is a side gig. 4) Kass's dog has started sleeping with us. Very annoying. I hate it, she loves it. The dog thinks the baby is either taking her place or that the baby is going to be her pet. 5) I have to start exercising and eating better again 6) Currently marinating ground beef for meatloaf tomorrow night. I'm not sure how it will taste. or 7) Next Friday we have the first appt with the OB/GYN office 8) I'm trying to get Kass to convince someone to order the blood test to find out if it is a boy or girl so we will know. She won't do it though, meanie! 9) I did some math, freelancing at my current rate I would have to work more than 40 hrs to make up for my salary right now........... plus I don't have enough clients 10) I can't wait til the 2nd trimester, when my wife doesn't fall asleep at 8pm every night lol
bexincanada, we are hoping that I can get enough side work to become full time work and I can be at home. The US military gives 12 weeks of maternity leave after birth so Kass can stay home during that time. So worst case scenario, day care or nanny for us.
1. We had another ultrasound today. Got a creepy head shot of the baby. I am not a fan, it's looks weird, like he's the terminator.
2. I'm now measuring 1 1/2 weeks ahead, and apparently the estimated weight is 7lbs 11oz right now... I still have a month till due date. I am hoping the 2lbs error rate is applying here.. and he's not as big as the tech thinks he is.
3. I am so freaking out that he's going to be a big baby!!! Although, my friend was told her boy was about 10lbs, and he ended up only being 8lbs 2oz...
4. I've been thinking more and more about an unmedicated birth. Maybe trying the Elle TENS Machine for pain management. The thought of a needle in my back scares me so bad. I know it's done every day, but I don't like the thought of being bed ridden and not feeling anything from the ribs down..
5. I heard kidney stones hurt more than labour.. and since I went 3 days with undiagnosed kidney stones and though I was dying, I figure I could possibly make it through labour without meds??? Hahahahaha Wishful thinking right??
6. I head back to work Thursday. Being off for a week and a half on Dr's ordered sick leave was boring, but okay. I napped lots, so that was nice.
7. Jo is freaking out that we are not ready for the baby to arrive. Yes we don't have everything we need, but our baby shower is this weekend, so after that we will be able to fill in the blanks better..
8. I can't wait to be able to sit like a normal person again. Be able to eat at the table and not spill food on my belly... that would be nice!
9. I have this weird pain in my butt muscle. It feels like it's close to my tailbone, but not.. it's hard to describe. But it's like I pulled something right inside the right cheek. Wth! It hurts to walk sometimes.. although everything is starting to hurt down there.
10. We made the last payment on our car today!!! I am so happy we have one less payment. Just in time for all that money to go towards the baby.
Side note: I don't know how those in the US handle only 12 week of maternity. That's crazy!!! So much to do in such little time, how do you even find daycare with such little time??
Post by kekaellypula on Mar 22, 2017 0:25:31 GMT -5
We start looking as soon as possible. If we use an FCC provider or the CDC on base for child care we will have to pay $160+ a week (It is on a sliding income scale). It is a pain though, the CDC is notorious for germs and other issues and FCC providers are hard to come by. The CDC stands for Child Development Center (day care) so it is typical day care issues. We max out the fee scale so we may look off base and see what we find. I'm just glad we have til after the holidays to get it figured out.

I had 8 weeks off. My wife had a full twelve weeks, unpaid. We did daycare interviews when I was 38 weeks pregnant. That wasn't so fun.

I'll have taken 12 weeks when I return, I have depleted my paid time off to cover the cost, and I also used my 8 weeks of short term disability that my company provides. It is NOT enough time, and it never will be. This has to change. I look at Sutter and how small he is, I can't imagine leaving him in 19 days. He's only in daycare 12 hours a week but still.... I need a new job
dannigirl , My birth story is really long (days) and I totally believe everyone should birth their baby however they want/is medically safe. All the power to you if you go natural! Personally, I was open to it but not set on it. After the second full day of contractions less than 5 minutes apart lasting over a minute, I ended up getting an epidural. I had the same concerns about not feeling anything and my legs feeling like dead weight. At least for me, I could still wiggle my toes, move my legs, and roll from side to side with a little help (I guess you have to alternate what side you're laying on to keep it even). I felt a lot more normal than I expected. I turned off my brain about what they were doing when they did it and focused on staying as still as possible. They started right after a contraction, hoping to have a contraction free window to do it. Our doctor was so fast. Even just writing this, I want to run up and give him a hug. For me, it allowed my body to relax and move things along. But again, everyone is different. I'm not trying to be preachy or tell you what you should and shouldn't do. Just wanted to share how the epidural felt for me and how it was different than I expected. You're in the final stretch!

2. I had 16 weeks off. We started looking for a nanny when they were 10-11 weeks. She started 2 days before I went back to work and L worked from home the rest of that week. She was with us full time for just over 3 years.
3. Honestly, childcare at that age seemed really difficult, but I am finding balancing work and after school activities/sports/homework much more difficult (although much cheaper!) at this age.
4. L is sick. Sigh. She was out of town last week. Sick in bed this week. Out of town next week. Ugh.
5. More or less finalized plans for spring break with my dad. L, the kids, and I will drive down to GA Sat/Sun and then they will drive back while Thursday/Friday I stay with my dad for a couple of more days until he has to move out of the house. The reality of selling the house is hitting him. I need to find an airline ticket home.
6. PMS kicked my behind this month. I have been eating non-stop. I need to stop that. Pronto.
7. I am annoyed every month that I still have to get my period. We are done. No.More.Kids. I don't need it anymore.
8. Crystal Light Fruit Punch is the bomb.
9. We have lost our Sundays for the foreseeable future. Church 9-10:30. Soccer game sometime between 12-3. Swim 4-5 for one kid and 6-7 for the other.
10. I am covering the ER today. I have every appendage crossed that nothing big/serious/major comes in. I need a low key day.
1. I'm not sure but we may have another periodically rainy day today. Yesterday M and I walked down the sidewalk with an umbrella while it was sprinkling. She loved it and didn't want to turn around to walk home. So, we walked to the library then headed home.
2. I agree. I'm super impressed with working parents. Especially Mamas who make the time to pump. That's a lot of effort and dedication. The friend I met for a run has a 17 month old daughter and she just started going back to work part time. Her daughter is still nursing and hearing about her first day trying to pump sounded eventful. Once she figures out the building better, I'm sure it will be easier. On her first day, she pumped in the car but she left her pump plugged in and it drained her car battery so when she went out to pump a second time, she had to have her car jumped.
3. Met a friend and her daughter for a 7 mile run yesterday morning then we toured a new gym and got an iced latte while the girls played outside. Impromptu but fun.
4. I completed my Fit4Mom Stroller Strides instructor training!
5. We are so impressed with M's receptive language. For instance, before we go outside we sit on the ground to put on our shoes. I started asking her to get her shoes and she crawls/scoots over and gets them. Then she undoes the velcro. I then suggested she try and put them on and she flips the shoe around so it's in the right direction and lifts her foot up and touches it with her shoe. She needs some help but she's totally understanding.
CETs
6. It's nice to have M and CAR back. The house feels full again, and M seems even more grown up, even though it was less than 2 weeks away.
7. I'm looking forward to this weekend's trip to Seattle. It'll be nice to travel as a family again. We haven't done it since the holidays, though we've both traveled individually.
8. Work's busy in that way where there's so much going on it's hard to know where to start.
9. Though it probably doesn't impact most average Americans, the ban on electronics on flights from the Middle East generally is really irking me. I have several flights booked for later this year through Doha on Qatar, and looking into the policy I'm pretty convinced the inclusion of Doha, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi is a covert way to limit those airlines' competition power, rather than a security measure. Security at those airports meets or exceeds US standards, and the UK didn't include them in their new policy. Rather, US airlines have been complaining for years that they don't want to try and keep up with their better service and planes, and now any sane business traveler will have to think twice about flying on them. And...I'll have to decide if I risk checking my laptop and the data security issues with that, don't take one and risk only having one wifi device while navigating Doha, Colombo, and Cairo, or buy a cheap ebay one that doesn't have my personal info on it for the trips. [rant over]
10. Now that I've gotten all worked up about that, I can't think of a number 10....

1. A day late but I'm trying to be here despite a lack of motivation for much.
2. Just about 31 weeks and no idea how my body will survive the next 9. My pelvis is just a mess!
3. I feel like we have soooooo much to do in the next 9 weeks between the baby and finishing grad school it's going to be nuts. And by about 3-4pm every day now I'm pretty much ready for a nap lol.
4. We finished our hypnobirthing class so now I just have to practice and have faith in this whole crazy process. We're about to start working on our birth plan though a lot is in my mind.
5. One of my bffs who is literally like a sister is planning a last minute wedding at best 4 weeks after we have the baby and at worst 10 days. I'm praying we can go because it will suck so much to miss it. It's a 2.5 hour drive away and there will be a bunch of people there who just got off an international flight so bringing the baby makes us nervous. But we'll see!
6. I've officially gained too much weight and the fact that I might gain 10 more pounds before this is over sucks! FX I'm one of those people who loses weight easy when breastfeeding.
7. dannigirl the idea of an epidural also sounds awful to me. Though I'm also not really scared about the pain at this point. (I know I sound like a crazy person!)
8. The whole maternity leave thing in the US is awful! DW gets NOTHING from her job to be with me aside from FMLA and using sick and vacation time. And she works at a company that is supposed to be amazing for working families! I'm super fortunate to be planning to take 6 months off before starting a job (after grad school) but I'm scared I won't want to go back to work lol.
9. Our house is a total disaster with baby stuff everywhere but no furniture yet to store things. I'm petrified that the dresser we ordered is not going to fit up our awful staircase and I really want the whole matching set lol. We might make a cardboard model before scheduling delivery.
Me: 32, Wife: 38, Together for 5 years, Married for 2 years IUI #1 (8/2016): Letrozole, Ovidrel, Crinone = BFN IUI #2 (9/2016): Letrozole, Ovidrel, Endometrin = BFP!! EDD 5/26/17
8 weeks?! That's two months... 2 months! That is so not enough time. Nuts!
Things could be changing for our little guys birth. It's funny how 'plans' can go off the rails, and this is why I originally was walking into this with zero expectations, just a healthy baby boy...
Turns out I have some extra amniotic fluid, nothing too serious and my Dr wasn't worried. She said I will likely just have another ultrasound to keep an eye on it. It's still in normal range, just more than before. But there is a large margin for error, so that's why she's not too worried. Although she did say she was going to contact Edmonton and see what they suggest.
Also, his heart rate was 175 with the Doppler today, so I went to Labour and Delivery to have a stress test done. All was good with that though. HR was averaging 150-155, he was moving a lot because he hates dopplers and ultrasound... lol Plus I ate a clementine on the way to the appointment, and he moves lots after I eat those, so that's likely why he was loving lots, and thus his HR was up too. And zero contractions, so that's good!
There was talk of possible induction because of his size, but the Dr again wasn't worried. And no plans were made.
It's funny how yesterday I was thinking one thing, and today I'm just going with the flow again. Geez!! Oh, I'm 36 weeks today too!
