Is anyone else planning to get one of the first-tri blood tests done?
We have the MaterniT21 scheduled for next week and I'm excited/nervous! Aside from chromosomal testing, it will also tell us the baby's sex, so that's exciting, too.
I'm not, just because of the inaccuracy of results for a multiple pregnancy. If we were having a singleton pregnancy, I'd probably agree to the NIPT, though.

We're doing the Harmony test. With DS my insurance didn't cover it, but then they found something on the anatomy scan and we ended up doing it at 21 weeks. Now it's covered so I figured we'd just do that instead of the nuchal scan.

We are doing Harmony also. We've done it in 2 previous pregnancies and it's a huge relief to find out the risk is extremely low and it is fun to find out the sex too! With my first (2011) they didn't do the sex yet, that part is pretty new.
I'm hoping insurance will cover it because of DH's age, even though our donor was 21 I've read the risks are still higher with an older father.
I like it better than the NT because there are only 2 answer you can get from it - very low probability or likely (still though if it comes back 'likely' its NOT definitive - your OB will recommend you confirm with a CVS or amnio because there ARE false positives, not many but enough that it's worth verifying particularly if you would TFMR)
I already did te genetic testing for cystic fibrosis with ds. I am not a carrier. So I won't be retaking that. But I will do the NT in a few weeks and the corresponding bloodwork.

I'm having the NT scan and the associated bloodwork (quad screen) done in a couple weeks.
With DS, we didn't do a NT, just the quad bloodwork which turned out to be a good thing because we had some issues at 30 weeks and they were able to rule out chromosomal causes because of the bloodwork. Otherwise we would have had to do an amnio.
I had my fetal DNA testing done on Monday. Should hear the results within the week! I'll feel so much better knowing that baby is chromosomally normal, and that will probably let me announce if everything comes back clear.

Here's a good article about it for people who want to learn more. The intro is saying more or less the same thing I did about verifying 'positive' results.
The main purpose is to test for aneuploidy (wrong number of chromosomes).
If you skip the NT like I'm doing, your OB will probably still recommend doing the blood work portion as that can identify possible neural tube defects which cell-free DNA tests cannot detect.

In my province the Panorama/Verifi tests aren't covered under our provincial health plan unless you test positive on the initial FTS. It's optional to do the bloodwork and ultrasound to check for chromosomal abnormalities but I'll be doing it.

We did ours Monday and should have the results back by the end of next week. I've had to do it both times due to AMA. We plan to announce after we get the results back.
We are doing the NT scan next week at 13 weeks and the bloodwork that goes with it. We had a different insurance plan/OB group last time and just did the quad screen and no scan.

I am having blood drawn for the Panorama test tomorrow. Excited to get the results. Kind of bummed they don't do the quad screen/NT at my practice anymore. I would love to have another ultrasound to see how cute baby is getting!
Yes!! I found out with my last pregnancy that something could be wrong with the baby at the NT scan. After many tests later we found out baby had Trisomy 18. Trust me when I say you will want to know if something is wrong ASAP.

We will be, with the caveat that I'm at a higher risk for false positives due to using donor embryos. My OB's office does panorama exclusively, but panorama will not test you if you're using donor eggs or embies, so we're going to have to work with her to order materniT21.
I'm excited to know that baby is OK. After having chromosomal losses, it's my biggest fucking fear right now behind another MMC.
And while we will be happy with a healthy baby of either sex, there's going to be a lot of emotional baggage to unpack once we know what team we are on. Prior to losing our son, I was scared I would have sex disappointment with a boy. I still would strongly prefer a girl, but I know either way, there's going to be a lot of feelings- either grief of NOT having another boy, or the sadness around experiencing milestones with a son this pregnancy that we never got to have with our lost boy.

We did the quad screed with DD. It came back a ""heightened risk" so we had to go in for a special ultrasound and then the maternit21 or whatever to see if further invasive testing would be needed. Everything was fine but it was a little (lot) bit of worrying.
We are getting one of the cell free DNA test done at the next appt. but I can't remember which one...

If I remember correctly, my OB usually just does the quad screen. We did it with DD and will be doing it again with this baby. Anyone remember when that bloodworm usually takes place? I'm expecting it at my next appointment. (I'll be 15w exactly.)

Yep! Getting the Panorama and an NT scan. We did it last pregnancy, too...but I think I'm getting the next level of screening this time because of my age (turning 35 in Aug). We're most likely finding out the sex this time around, so that's also exciting
I remember this coming up on my last BMB (which started on TD), and all these holier-than-thou types declaring that they weren't going to do 1st tri screens because they would love their baby no matter what. I wish I'd been more assertive back then...knowledge is power, people! Ugh. I still get all riled up just thinking about it.
Eta: I don't care what anyone chooses to do, just don't come at me like you're on some moral high ground because of that choice.

seventythree We haven't had a lot of that attitude in general on this board for which I am very grateful. I recall people being called out on previous BMBs for *gasp* eating lunch meat or *omg* getting a regular massage or *holy shit I can't believe you did that WTF* eating sushi. I'm like, really? Leave people alone. Unless they're smoking crack or something, they don't need to be judged.

I feel like we have a very #breezy BMB and I'm digging it.
I agree with the thoughts on the board.... hence, why I joined. Glad to know I won't be drawn and quartered if I eat lunch meat. (I hate lunch meat usually, but it sounds so delicious lately so it's a matter of time before I microwave that listeria on high).
FTR: We had the Counsyl done (and NT is tomorrow). It's not covered by insurance, but after what we went through and even though we did PGD, I still want the extra screening, thankyouverymuch. Should get the results in the next few days.

I may have eaten an entire pack of honey ham lunch meat today.
