Hi all,
I have been following this board for some time now but have been very nervous to post. I am currently 25 weeks, 2 days pregnant with my third son.
Trigger: In May, my second son, Sidney, died the same day I went into labor (just short of 37 weeks), although the doctors are not exactly sure at what point he died. No cause of death was ever found-they have some hypotheses that include bacterial infection, cord accident or the cord getting somehow compressed from a contraction, or even a blood clot.
So my OB asked me recently if I had any plans for how I wanted to deliver this baby. I have mostly been avoiding making any plans at all, and am still trying to take it day by day for anxiety reasons. But I was hoping to get advice from you all, about how you decided/are going to decide about delivery. My living son's birth ended in emergency c-section, and with Sidney, I delivered him vaginally. My OB said that I can do either, but that she will only induce me if I am showing some dilation already, with the plan for either a c-section or induction somewhere around 37 or 38 weeks. If I am not at all dilated, I will most likely go with a c-section because I think waiting past 37/38 weeks will be too hard for me (although since both my boys came earlier, I mostly don't think this will be a problem). But if I am dilated, maybe I want to be induced? Pros? Cons? How did you decide?
Thanks for your advice. Even though I have not commented before, I have been following all of your stories.
