C's poop before starting food was thick like a paste and usually dark green to dark yellow in color. He's never had pellets though. My pediatrician said "pebbles" are a sign of dehydration, if that's the same thing as you're seeing.
goldenlove3 He's drinking 25-30 oz of formula a day so I don't think he could be dehydrated, right?
I can't imagine he could be! Maybe he's still adjusting to the formula? C's poop was really runny for the longest time but recently got thicker. Besides switching from newborn to infant, he's been on the same kind since I stopped pumping.
Now here's something I can finally contribute to ☺️
Both my kids have shitty shits (or lack thereof) recently. Both take Similac Sensitive. The pedi has repeatedly told us that constipation is determined (at this age) by hard stool rather than soft stool, not necessarily frequency as both hadn't gone in 1-2 days. When both did finally go it was hard, pellet//pebble like. And then later on they had a normal soft stool.
He has told us that color doesn't necessarily indicate anything as it's just a reflection of how much/what is being absorbed nutritionally. So sometimes it's greenish blackish, sometimes is dark brown.. The greenish color really isn't an issue he's told us.
Howeve yes the hard pellets you're describing sound like constipation. He told us to give a little prune juice each day (which we are, I use the infant Tylenol syringe to administer the same amount of prune juice as they would get Tylenol based on their weight - so AV 1.25ml and AB 2.5ml).
I also use the windi to help thins along. Doing both of those usually clears it up within 12ish hours.
I thought it was one offs but they've been getting it for over two-three weeks now (with normal ones in between) so I'm going to call the pedi to ask why it's happening so much.
Also, as far as intolerance or allergy, he told me to look for mucus or blood in the stool as signs of that.
Also I'm told I can give a little water in between feedings - I haven't done that bc my mom "convinced" me that babies choke on it this early - she's a worrier.
LOL. Nothing like being tagged into a thread about poop kleigh.
I'll try the windi tonight. How often were you using it?
I'm quite honored.
Once every couple days - the prune juice every day and I think that helped the most. I also alternated massaging their bellies quite a bit and bicycles and bunching the legs up and rolling them around in a circle (AV gets a lot of gas relief from that).

Quite the learning curve. N threw up 3 bottles yesterday at daycare...Turns out she just needed to poop and had no room for more. She had never gone a day without pooping and went 36 hours. It was like PB. She's only had a few formula bottles over the past few weeks, but definitely changing up her poop.
