Morning. The weather is dreary and my brain hurts. Hopefully the sun comes out as predicted and we can keep up our evening routine of spending time outside.

Last day of leave. I feel like I should be more productive but I'm letting C take a nap on me instead. I need to call HR at some point to figure out what I'm supposed to do tomorrow. I think my badge has been turned off and I need to go through the visitor system. Ugh. This feels like all 12 years of "last day of summer" combined.

I say soak up those cuddles and worry about everything else later.
Agreed! Today you get to cuddle as much as you'd like!
ETA: goldenlove3 you get the cuddles, not danib. But danib you can obviously cuddle H if you want!
I'm tired this morning and tried out a cold brew coffee from the market at work. Not that impressed. When will I learn to stop experimenting with my coffee. Just drink what I know and leave it be.
Not a good Tuesday so far. A couple days ago I noticed something like little bite marks on my chest, mildly itchy. Each day, a little more itchy, more redness and inflammation. So I decided to go to the walk in clinic this morning.
She thinks it's shingles!!!! She didn't want to prescribe a n antiviral, so she referred me to a dermatology walk in clinic. I am here now where the wait is 2 hours. I'm almost 1.5 hours in and was able to distract me and E with a walk and a stop at a chocolate cafe. I had the thickest, richest, darkest bowl of hot chocolate in the history of ever. It was delicious but i couldn't even finish it. That is not like me.
Anyway, now I wait to see the derm. Keep me and my skin in your thoughts.
hangry oh I really hope it's not shingles! tgrimes1980 I like the new avatar! danib glad to hear you're feeling a bit better! waitwhat sorry for the crappy night. D has been a garbage napper the past two days too and fighting me sometimes. Sleep is good, babies!
They prescribed valtrex. I've already called "mother risk" hotline and said it was less than 5% transmission so is safe for BFing. I also just talked to pedi office and they want me to come in tomorrow to check and see how I can BF so as not to pass to E. She at least has my antibodies. Since O has had the vaccine, his chance of catching the pox is very low.

Ugh hangry. Shingles sucks. I've had it twice. Once pretty badly when I was 8 and a milder case right after Lillian was born. Mine only ever itched like a bitch. Hopefully it's short lived, doesn't get too painful/itchy, and that you can keep E safe!
The sleep fairy came to our house last night! L slept for 8 hours last night! Which I needed because DH is helping our neighbor who got his truck stuck on a trail. He helped yesterday and was gone till nightfall and got both his vehicles stuck!?!

Were you able to continue safely bf Lillian? I assume you still were.

hangry I am so sorry that sounds like it stinks. I have no clue the difference by shingles and pox but I remember getting pox very bad as a kid - it sucked!! At least O should be fine and E too!
waitwhat I'm going through all my hand me downs from my sister and friend and noticing just how different sizing is brand to brand. It's insane, does not do my OCD-like issues well bc I have to put say 6 mo clothing in the 9 mo bin bc realistically he/she won't fit in it until then. Then I get all confused.
goldenlove3 I'm so glad you're soaking up the snuggles on your last day home!! Everything else can wait!

hangry I had shingles. They burned so bad like they were on fire. I had them for like a week. I couldn't even wear a bra. Valtrex cleared them up within a couple days though. Mine were from stress. I changed jobs after that.
I'm in a walk in clinic. I'm STILL sick. Saturday it took a turn for the worse. So I decided to get checked out. Fingers crossed that they can help me.
I'm sorry hangry , I'm going to be honest, I thought shingles was something only old people had to worry about! GL with ped tomorrow, glad the meds won't affect breastfeeding!
I can't wait to start sleep training. It takes my DH and I atleast an hour to get through 1 DVRed half hr show because I'm up with J so much after he gets put down. Last night I was up there 4 times in 3 hours. I would leave him up there to figure it out if B's room wasn't next door. Sounds awful I know.
Ugh, I'm sorry. Totally understand not wanting to wake B though.
What time do you put J down for the night? We were having a similar issue with D (waking every 30-45 minutes from 7:30-11 or 12 even) and the only thing that helped was moving her bedtime later. Idk if that would work for you but maybe worth a try?

The toddler is still up. And we are supposed to get thunderstorms tonight. Glad DH is handling her now. I tried for an hour. At least Lilah is asleep. Feeling extra stressed tonight.
waitwhat, why do men's clothes seem to have a standard but women's and children's clothes are all over the place!?! Don't get me started on babies socks!?! I get babies range in size but come on, Gerber and Koala baby make my baby seem huge, cat & jack at target is the only one that is reasonable for my baby, gap/old navy run big on him!?! I know this will be the opposite for someone else which maddening!
waitwhat I hear you on the sleep training. We didn't have to sleep train our DD so I am not sure how to do it and feel weird asking for resources, but damn I want to be prepared when he hits 6 months not start figuring out a plan to train at 6 months.
And that waking up you talk about, C did that for about 2 weeks and it has subsided again. It was when he really started rolling each direction now he is over it and I can put him on his back again and he is usually out 'for the night' aka when he is hungry a few hrs later.
waitwhat E just went through that phase. Up a bajillion times until I would just go to bed with her around 9. Knock on wood, the last 3 nights she's just slept til her first wake up, which is still 10pm, but better than before. I think it lasted a week or two? I don't know. It all blends together now ETA Dont feel bad, I feel the same way about sleep training. I am ready and I know she needs it because she relies on me too much. I was so disappointed when my pedi said I couldn't start early.
goldenlove3 good luck today. Hope your first day back goes smoothly for both of you.
ETA: +1 on inconsistent baby/kids clothing sizes. I've seen patterns with certain manufacturers that I like for DS so I try to keep them in mind, but trying a new brand is always a guessing game. Eta2: and holy Shrinkage! Sometimes I feel like baby clothes 'lose' a size the first time they're washed/dried.

waitwhat We definitely went through the same wakeup issue a few weeks ago. I think it was a mix of regression plus his cold. It got better after a couple weeks. Hope he gets through it quickly!
+a gazillion about the baby clothes sizing. I just bought 9 month onsies from Gerber and I swear they could be 3 month after washing. And hand me downs are all over the place.
