lightside, yes! Casimir is the anglicised version and easier for English speakers to pronounce. But same meaning. In spite of the nasty meaning, Kazimierz is the patron saint of Poland and the name of 4 Polish kings. Pretty powerful stuff, I think

Well my girl name is out. DH new a girl back in the day with that name and he wants to pronounce it the way she did. My response....ummm no!
Ugh, that's the worst. One of my favourite girl names was the name of MH's first love and he teased me about it so much that I had to rule it out.
Yeah, the name is totally ruined for me now. I'm so sad. I thought I had the name down for sure if it was a girl but now I just don't know. Nothing sounds right.

We've come up with a boy name and a girl name. But we're keeping them secret until the birth.
Oddly enough, we came up with the boy name and realized that there was a hidden theme related to something we both love. We were struggling with girl names, so we then used that theme for inspiration. I'm kinda looking forward to telling people where the names come from- it should be good for giggles.

My kid's name is frequently shortened to a (cringe inducing) nickname that I just correct. It's two fucking syllables people, get it together.
I think it'd be fun to share your naming style, since we're all a little bit different.
I like names that are traditionally surnames as first names, uncommon and easy to say/spell. My H has a common last name and so unique is extra important to me. I also pretty much only like girl names that end in -a/ah/uh so that's...fun.
We actually managed to come up with two for each last weekend! We had been keeping a list for three years so had lots to pick from! I'm wavering back and forth between two options for girl names that are second on the list, but both would work with the middle name I want for number 2, so I'm cool going to delivery with three girl options and seeing which hits me at that time (if we need two girl names). I also love the boy names and am surprised that MH agreed to them, he likes really boring names. We are keeping the options a secret but I love the one girl name so much I hope we get to use it! (Actually I love all the names...just need two more kids...KIDDING! This is it!)
Genevieve is on my list...I think it's BEAUTIFUL but worried baby girl will go her whole life having it misspelled. I love that Viv can be a nickname, which was one of my grandma's names.

Same issue here plus it runs into our last name that starts with a V.

How does everyone pronounce this? I grew up with a Jen-e-veev and a Jhon-vee-ev (english and french pronunciations I guess).

Ah, that makes sense! I really like it.
DS shares a name with a long line of rulers (which I think is cool!), one of whom was notoriously treacherous but it only came up a couple times when he was a baby and the name was new. I think once a name "sinks in" on a kid it just becomes their name and that takes over other associations. I wouldn't toss it yet!
@saiven we like Biblical names. I like the more unique ones and DH likes the more common ones. DS name is sort of unique but is becoming more and more common. DD's name is fairly common but maybe not so much in recent years.
DH does not want to do family names. My middle name is shared by my mom, and sister. However, it is also my MIL's first name so if we ever used it as a middle name it would be like nope didn't name her after MIL.....plus BIL used it as a middle name for one of their girls so I feel like I can't use it. Even though part of me would love to just because it's my middle name.
@saiven, my H family is always trying to shorten my kid's names. They want to call my TEENAGER Tay Tay, DD (who's name is Elena) Lena....just one more letter people! One. More. Letter!!! And DS2 Logi. It's all barf inducing to me. I correct them until I'm blue in the face. They think I'm controlling because of it. Nope, not it at all. I have them short names for a reason. Names that I didn't think was possible to shorten.

SIL is the first way. She goes by Gen (Jen). I love saying her whole name though. So pretty!

We have a girl's name picked out if LO is a girl. My MIL passed away in 2011 -- we're thinking about using her middle name as LO's middle name (DH didn't want to use her name at all for DD, but now he's come around to it).
But boys names are hard. I love your list, laurenash323! The boy names I've come up with are all pretty traditional (read: kinda boring). Some are family names, but still. Hmmmm.

I think we finalized a girl name. DH loves it and I have the same feeling about this name that I had with DD. It also means God is my Strength which we both love. Now we just need a middle name.
euphony - I just noticed in this thread that you're in this BMB! Hiiiiiiiiiii!!!!
(JIC you have forgotten about S15 since the move to FBland, we were in there together!)
Of course I remember you! I just figured you wouldn't remember me, as I was a less prominent poster, and I never made the leap to FB. But I would never forget anyone from S15, especially not the Canadians.
I was the Harrison 'Harry' Balzak that gave me away, wasn't it? That has been a name battle that never goes away in my house.
It is always nice to have a familiar face. I secretly hoped we would have a bunch of S15ers in here because I miss people, but hate FB.
