What time is bedtime/wake up? Bedtime is 7pm, wake up is 7am.
How many wake ups per night? How do they look (eating/paci/rocking)? Since we changed things up, he's been only waking up once at 4am to eat. I usually wait 4-5 minutes to see if he settles but he never does at this wake up. He eats one side, and I put him down semi awake. He usually fusses for a minute or two and settles.
Any sleep training or game changers that helped baby sleep a little better? Well...we tried CIO with checks. He puked after 45 minutes of crying. It was awful. So we abandoned that. So far, the game changer for us is the bedtime routine. It's short and simple. I just nurse him first instead of last. Currently it's- 6:45 is nursing, Jammie's, say goodnight, hand off to H who rocks and sings one song. Put down awake in crib and asleep by 7:00.
Any questions for the peanut gallery? Don't think so!
Crossing my fingers this MOTN thread can go away soon! But we are not there yet.
How old is LO now? 8 months
What time is bedtime/wake up? 7-7 typically
How many wake ups per night? How do they look (eating/paci/rocking)? Anywhere from 0-2, but I only feed him once. We had 2 weeks of 0-1 wakeup, but this week, it's more like 2. I only feed him if it's been 4+ hours since the last feed - other times, I just go in and rub his back and tell him it's still night time. I'm cutting back on checks because they don't seem to help, and I'm actually able to fall back asleep even if he's crying a bit (when he's hysterical, I'll get more involved).
Any sleep training or game changers that helped baby sleep a little better? Haven't changed anything much over the past 2-3 months. I think doing fewer checks when he wakes up is actually helping a bit though.
Any questions for the peanut gallery? Is there an age when you're planning on completely night weaning your baby? I'm planning on weaning E completely around 12 months so I wonder if there is a right age when I should really work on night weaning him.
How is everyone doing? MUCH better now. Hubby and I had an in date night last night (wine and cheese with the new Harry Potter) working on an actual date soon.
How old is LO now? Just shy of 8.5 months
What time is bedtime/wake up? 8-8
How many wake ups per night? How do they look (eating/paci/rocking)? We sleep trained starting 4 nights ago. Prior to that it was every 1-2 hours. I was basically sleeping in the glider half the night.
Any sleep training or game changers that helped baby sleep a little better? We sleep trained using the sleep wave method from The Happy Sleeper. We are down to 1 wake up night. 1.5 hour naps in her crib. The longest it's taken is 30 minutes and it's not straight crying. She'll move around for 10 minutes. Cry for 5, move some more. It's been a live saver. I was beginning to worry for my health no joke.
Any questions for the peanut gallery? For those who sleep trained - does the crying go away? So last night no tears at bedtime. Like 3 minutes for her MOTN wake up and just now 20 for nap. Are we ever gonna get to no tears? I'm happy with her progress but I hate crying every single time.
koritto glad you're seeing some progress! For us, the tears definitely lessened with time, and it didn't take too long. We really only have tears when he's sick or something (teeth) is bothering him. Also maybe just being a STM, tears bother me less now :-)
rungirlrun I plan on letting B self wean during the day, but I haven't really thought about night weaning. I'm thinking around 12 months I'll start to drop his night session. I don't think there's a right or wrong age to do this at this point. Trust your mom gut and go with it.
FWIW I night weaned DS1 around 18 months by timing his sessions and shaving a minute off each night until we were down to 30 seconds. After that I would send H in to handle it. It took about a good month before he stopped waking MOTN after that.

Thanks. I know there's no right or wrong time to wean, but I don't know if I should wait a certain number of months between night weaning and fully weaning. Doesn't really seem like it. Knock on wood, he's only been waking once around 3 to eat so maybe with any luck, he'll night self wean soon! If not, I'll probably get serious about it at 9 months. Flu season should be over so hopefully he will be done getting sick.

How old is LO now? 9.5 months.
What time is bedtime/wake up? We're slowly slinking into sleep training for bedtime. We do bath, jammies, nurse, book, song and then bed, but I wish I would have done nurse first because if he's near me after nursing, he just goes for the boob again. He's OBSESSED. Routine starts at 6:30, bed by 7:00. Wake up is hopefully 6:00 or later.
How many wake ups per night? How do they look (eating/paci/rocking)? 1-2x. We were at 0-1 for the longest time and then he was sick and we've regressed a bit. He almost always wakes up at 1am and then again at 4:30. The 4 one is iffy if he goes back down easily. I nurse at the 1:00 one, and generally the 4:30 one. He doesn't like paci for sleeping, so that's a non-issue.
Any sleep training or game changers that helped baby sleep a little better? We've nap trained this last week. He's doing much better and taking longer naps. It wasn't my choice, but we ended up doing extinction because checks sent him into full meltdown mode. Today he fell asleep after only 3 minutes of fussing, so I call it a win.
Any questions for the peanut gallery? I'm just terrified of night weaning because I have no idea how we will calm him without going full on extinction. I might have to sleep in another room those nights. But I'm not planning to do that until he's closer to 1 year so I have a couple of months to put it off.
What time is bedtime/wake up? 7/7:30pm-7:30-9am. His wake up depends on whenever his last motn wake up happened.
How many wake ups per night? How do they look (eating/paci/rocking)? 2-3, but usually 2. I feed him each time he wakes up. If he wakes up before 3 hours I'll have H go in and try to comfort him back to sleep. I should probably stretch it out more to try and get us to one wake up per night, but he usually nurses the longest during these sessions instead of during the day when he's popping off after just a couple minutes.
Any sleep training or game changers that helped baby sleep a little better? I've got nothing since we're still waking up pretty frequently. I nurse him until he's almost asleep before putting him to bed so maybe I should go back to making that the first part of our routine. I just love the sleepy nursing snuggles and won't get them if it's the first thing we do
Any questions for the peanut gallery? Any other babies out there suddenly fighting their naps? I'm assuming this is part of the 8 month sleep regression because he used to go down for naps with no issues and now he fights them for a long time (I'm talking an hour+), tries skipping them, etc. Nothing else has changed in our routine so that's the only thing I can think would be causing the problem.

Thank you! 3 nights of no tears at bedtime and 5 put downs with no tears (bedtime, 2 wake ups last night and both naps today). I'm feeling like a different person.
She he has also had a development explosion (coicidence or better sleep IDK) Pulling up on everything, giving high five's, so proud of her!
madamewaffles we used the sleep wave method (you go in every 5 minutes no matter what, like a continuous wave, hence the name). It's supposed to give them reassurance and confidence. The book made so much sense. Then we started and I quickly learned it made things SO much worse. I backed off a bit and it really helped. I always said I would never do extinction but when you see the results it's hard to turn back.

How is everyone doing? Good, mostly.] How old is LO now? 8 and a half months What time is bedtime/wake up? Bedtime at 7 and wake up at 6:30/7. How many wake ups per night? Lots How do they look (eating/paci/rocking)? We're cosleeping and this week he is not having his crib (side car next to my bed) He wants my arm, not DH's, only mine. He's also nursing 3-7 times but I'm sleeping through it and hoping its a growth spurt. He nurses and passes out immediately. Any sleep training or game changers that helped baby sleep a little better? Nope. We don't sleep train.
madamewaffles, you might have luck with night weaning. I never officially did anything to night wean my older son - he basically just started sleeping through the night so I didn't have to do much work. If he did wake up and seemed to have trouble going back to sleep (which only happened occasionally once he was STTN regularly), my H just went in there. But then the 1 year molars came in a few months after sleep was good for a while and all hell broke loose and no one slept so that was rough. But he had been night weaned by then so at least I wasn't worrying about nursing for those wake ups.
I'm still up 1-2x a night. Mostly 2x a night but sometimes she surprises me and just does 1 wakeup. She definitely is hungry when she wakes up and it's not that she needs me to fall back asleep, just needs a full belly. I put her down drowsy but awake MOTN and she puts herself to sleep. Hoping once her growth naturally slows down a little she won't need the MOTN feed.
