I honestly can't believe how awful his care has been. The hospital he was at is the biggest and best in this county. It's actually where I delivered both my girls, but that is in an entirely different building with the children's hospital and the care and facilities in that part were incredible. But if he ends up having to go back, we're going to the next county over to a hospital that was recommended to us.
This is awful.
Does he have a primary care? Internist? Who is overseeing his care?

He has a gastroenterologist who we see again next week.
On the plus side, the Humira starter doses just arrived!!!! Now I just have to get the nurse here to give it to him.
And be careful. I was drunk last night and have totally been paying the price today haha. But I overdid it.
Is it on the realm of reality that my baby could be transitioning to just one nap???
He's been fighting his second nap so hard lately and he refused at daycare today! 😱
I'm wondering that myself. Wednesday she only took the 9am nap. Yesterday she only took the 12:30pm nap. Today she took both naps. I asked her daycare teacher if she may be ditching the 9am nap soon and she said "I hope not. I'll make sure it's a short one so she sleeps later but I don't want to lose it completely yet"
My kid just finished antibiotics for a gross cold/infection and now she's coughing so hard she's waking herself up again. We never got completely better before getting sick again... ughhhh.
Tonight is not off to a great start with bedtime. First DS pooped in the tub. Then didn't nurse get but did fall asleep. Until placed in crib then he screamed bloody murder. I let him fussy/scream for a few minutes and realized that he wasn't calming down. Decided to give Tylenol just in case teeth/ears are bothering him. And then nurse him again. This time he's actually nursing. So hopefully reattempt works bc it's getting late and I still need to do stuff for tomorrow.
Oh, today has been a nightmare. The doctors said they would keep him until after he started the Humira. Then suddenly today they discharged him, like I got the text while grocery shopping and had to run to get him. His nurse was an awful human being, told him lies, was rude, etc, we'll be reporting her. He's currently in the bathroom screaming I'm trying to get him to tough it out until his Humira gets here either tomorrow or Friday and then we'll go to a different hospital if we need to.
What a nightmare! I really hope every day to see an update from you with some good news for your DH - things really need to start getting better for you soon. I know this isn't helpful for you at all but I'm just so confused and baffled by healthcare in the US in general and your situation seems even worse. I just don't understand how abyone could think that's a good system at all.
For the record, this is pretty extreme even for the US!
First steps wat wat wat?? Oh gosh. My roly poly baby girl only just this week figured out that she can roll around to travel about a bit. She still knocks herself over from sitting if she gets too excited.
I have been taking both girls to this big awesome park that recently got renovated in my town. Big girl likes to run around on the big toy and bounce in this "desert jeep" on springs. I tried baby girl in the bucket swing today. Got pictures of her just chillin', it was pretty cute.
And oh lord, big girl turns 3 in less than a month. We are still pretty much broke but I wanted to do something special since she has so much more awareness this year about what a birthday is. So, I am planning a small shindig at this petting zoo up the highway. You can reserve their picnic tables for parties, and if you don't want a ton of people or access to loads of their activities, it doesn't cost too much.
I figure meat/cheese/veggie trays with some kind of bread, fruit tray, drinks, and birthday cupcakes, shouldn't be TOO expensive. And for a 3 year old, feeding and petting the animals should be plenty of fun. At least... I hope so!
I invited both grandmas, an aunt, and three small families who have young kids who are our friends/friends with my kid. Maybe 15 people total. Am I crazy? Is this a good idea? Too much, not enough? I have literally never planned a birthday party before. I feel like I must be doing it wrong.

That sounds fine! Are you or family members of yours members of Costco? They have reasonably priced wrap trays and cakes/cupcakes. We always get one of their big sheet cakes because they are so cheap and delicious!
This morning B was saying that her throats hurt but she didn't have a fever and seemed okay otherwise. Pollen has been rough here so I figured it was allergies. At 4:20 the director at her school texted me that she was running a fever so I scooped her up. I immediately saw it in her face, girl wasn't doing so hot.
Took her to urgent care (her docs office had 0 openings and said since it was day 1 they'd call me in the morning and see if I needed to bring her in). When she was sitting with me I noticed a rash on her neck. Looked and it was all over her chest and back.
Poor kid, turns out she's got strep with Scarlett fever

steph oh no!!! Poor girl good news is I don't think babies can easily get strep (if at all) but what did they say about Scarlett fever? I hope she feels better soon.

We had a perfect day at Disney with our boys. It was truly magical until H almost had an anxiety attack right as we were leaving the park. Too many people. He doesn't do well with intense crowds.
I'm celebrating my birthday here and H had a party planned. I feel bad because we did almost nothing for his birthday Earlier this month. So all the planning he did makes me feel like a jerk. But then I reminded myself he traveled every week this year except two or so and I feel less bad he is spoiling me.
Tonight, one of my mom's college friends came to visit us. She has a congenital heart defect (Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome, which is an issue with the heart's electrical functioning), which wasn't diagnosed until she was in college. She had open heart surgery as an adult, which inspired her to go into the medical field. Now, she is a cardiologist in Illinois.
I love hearing stories of CHD survivors doing great things to give back to their personal cause. I can only hope R acts as an inspiration to others through his story and kind heart.
He's still in pain and in and out of the bathroom all day, but it could take up to 6 months for it to work hoping it helps sooner than that. I did, however, notice that he poured himself a glass of orange juice. While that is a seemingly simple task, it's not something he could have done a week ago. His dad came by today and brought us dinner which was nice and seemed to lift his spirits a little bit. So no drastic changes but I'm holding out hope and he hasn't gotten any worse.
steph poor B! Hope she starts feeling better soon. And coffeequeen14 is right babies can't get strep. DH had strep when DD was little and they told him she couldn't get it. But hopefully no one else does either.
So I'm 99% sure this shit sleep is being caused my teething and not a regression. The last two nights I've given Motrin or Tylenol before bed and he wakes up around the time he's due for more medicine. Tonight he even put himself to sleep at bedtime and was up almost 6 hours later. I feel better that it's hopefully short lived and he returns to unicorn status of STTN.
The antiobiotics and Tylenol are definitely helping. She's still saying she feels bad, but she's not crying that she feels horrible anymore. I'm so glad I went right to urgent care with her instead of waiting for the docs to be available today.
So Tapatalk is a jerk and won't let me go back a page, but coffeequeen14 and meagpt22 babies can't get strep?! Until what age? Like the boy won't get it? That's a HUGE relief because I leave again Monday and I'm terrified he's going to get it before then
They said the Scarlett fever is from the same bacteria that causes the strep. So if he can't get strep, I hope that means he can't get the fever too!

It's really rare for babies to get strep. I think it's under 2? Don't quote me on the specific age. I should look up scientifically why.

S2 was ~15 months when it went through our house and the pedi said he couldn't get it so....at least under 15 months:)
We put the baby down for a nap around 11am. By 1pm, I was like "she's still sleeping?" So, check the monitor. Baby is sitting in her crib quietly playing with her feet. Haha! I wonder how long she'd been doing that?

Always nice when they can do that upon waking up. It's a great skill especially in the AM.
