Apparently our water heater is having issues. Last night it had tripped the breaker, and it did it again this morning. Not cool to start your day with a cold shower. I'm not sure what the deal is, but the dang thing is only a year old! DH is going to bring home new elements for it tonight.
Got home last night from my weekend in San Diego for my grandma's funeral. It was a nice service and I was glad to be there for my mom, who is having a hard time, since she was the one visiting and caring for my grandma (she had dementia and lived in a group home with 3 other people with mobility/memory issues and round the clock caregivers), and her brother is in the hospital due to complications from alcohol withdrawal/detox. He's been on a ventilator due to two bouts of pneumonia and doesn't know yet their mother passed. Got to spend a good chunk of the day with my other grandma on Saturday and spent some time snuggling my almost one year-old niece. Nugget was surprisingly not clingy when I got home last night. I'm glad she had a good weekend with daddy, but also a little disappointed that she didn't seem to miss me that much.
We spent yesterday meeting a dog we're hoping to adopt. I also found out that they were really excited by our application, and even though we weren't the only ones to apply for her, the other couple isn't exactly what they want for her.
I really hope we get her because we just fell in love.
Hahaha I literally came home, cleaned up M and the seat, and then sewed two ponchos that look almost exactly like this! I made them out of fleece which will be too hot eventually, but they're water resistant and will work for now. I had an ugly fleece print someone gave me anyway!
So I took the truck to get the tires rotated today in anticipation of DH's trip later in the week and they supposedly couldn't get the lug nuts off of one wheel because they were too tight. In fear of breaking the bolts, they sent me to a different place that could replace them if they broke in the process. Apparently the first place was being overdramatic or something because the second place acted like it was no big deal and damaged the lug nuts but not the bolts in the removal process. So then I had to take it back to the first place to actually do the rotation and replace the lug nuts. Thankfully it cost nothing except 3 hours of waiting with unruly children.

what about using PUL?
Yeah I just didn't want to sew the PUL which I spent good money on until I knew that she'll keep it on or that it'll work.
I was talking to my coworkers yesterday at lunchtime and they asked me if I'm potty training yet. Um no, Nugget is 17 months old, and ain't nobody got time for that. She doesn't know the word "potty" yet. I'm not even going to think about it till she's at least 2.
E seems interested in PT but I'm not ready to have to worry about getting her to a potty. DH is pretty gung ho about it though and said something along the lines of her being potty trained when they got back from their trip. Ok, DH, have fun in all of the gas station bathrooms, and that porta potty at the camp? Definitely the thing I'm going to miss the very least!
B absolutely refuses to sit on the potty. And the two times she wanted to wear her training pants she saw in the drawer, she had an emotional breakdown when she wet and it dribbled down her leg. At least now she is telling me when she is peeing and immediately wants a new diaper, she even does a pee pee dance I've noticed and gets a little upset when she pees. She'll be 3 on the 9th. I think we are finally on the way to potty training, but she's just not ready for the next step. I struggled with my frustration/emotions with this for about 48 hours and then I finally realized that this is a good step in the right direction and that no matter what I did, I can't force her to sit on the potty. She'll do this in her time, not mine.
I'm pretty sure my fear of spiders can be attributed to when I was 4 and my grandma told me I had to check my shoes before I put them on because the brown recluse spider would hide in there and bite me and my leg would fall off. She wasn't the most subtle woman....

Oh man guys, packing everything for my husband and two youngest kids to go on a camping trip 1,500 miles away without me is insane. Like I want them to have ALL the things. I keep having to stop and remind myself: they won't be so far away from stores that they can't buy something they need; there will be people with rvs with them that will potentially have more resources; there will be people who are moms there... Gah, I'm still going insane!
I'm a glutton for punishment it seems... S will also be starting speech soon.
Hopefully that means she will be able to verbalize better that she needs to go.
Honestly I wouldn't worry too much about that part of it.
R PT'd in a weekend but never once verbalized the need to go for about 5 months. If the toilet was accessible, he'd go on his own, but never say anything at all. He would, however, tell me yes or no if asked if he needed to go.
We just established a routine for when we were going out. I'd make him go before we left and prompt him or ask him if it had been a while or he'd had a lot to drink, etc.
He had a few accidents in the first month, but none after that.
Just my personal experience, but I really don't think verbalizing is very important, as long as you know that she won't and plan accordingly.
dancingsphinx22, that is terrifying and I'd move immediately.
Funny thing, this is the house we just moved to!
The first time I saw a scorpion at the new house, I told DH to cancel the move.
I was at the new house all alone, unpacking boxes, and I kept hearing this soft scratching noise - like a plastic bag crinkling in a light breeze.
I thought there was a mouse in the wall, until I noticed the sound was coming from a box. I thought maybe a cricket got in the box and was try to find a way out.
I went to pick up the box, and OMFG THERE'S A MASSIVE FCKING SCORPION UNDERNEATH
I nearly had a heart attack.
The next day, DH and I walked in to find ANOTHER scorpion crawling in the middle of the kitchen floor, like he owned the place. The little bastard.
