lupincat our big issue was getting to stay in bed when we put him down, but it was just a phase (like everything else). We only had a handful of nights since July where he got up in the middle of the night and went to the door. You can always get one of those soft guard rails. They actually work pretty well for containing toddlers
Not to sway you, but the recommendation is to have them in a new bed for a minimum of 3 months before baby starts using it. That way, they no longer associate the crib as being theirs. Same with any other furniture that he has now that baby will get

I think that will be our problem too, I'm hoping he doesn't realize he can get out with the bed rail in the way!
You're right though, we probably should have done this sooner but two months-ish hopefully will do the trick! 😬
Good morning! It's rainy here and I'm praying our basement stays mostly dry since I can't empty the wetvac on my own...
Going to destination maternity this morning with my bff and her 3-year old, since my "every day" yoga pants are starting to get a hole in the thigh so I will probably bite the bullet and buy the more expensive pair that will hopefully last for another pregnancy. Also I need to look at nursing bras/tanks. Then going to the mall to do Easter Bunny pictures! I was there a year or 2 ago when my friend's daughter was petrified of him so hopefully she'll do better this year. Though the Easter Bunny is kinda scary looking lol. It should be fun!!
Nursery furniture is coming tomorrow!!! Super excited to finally have stuff to put things in/on!!
Me: 32, Wife: 38, Together for 5 years, Married for 2 years IUI #1 (8/2016): Letrozole, Ovidrel, Crinone = BFN IUI #2 (9/2016): Letrozole, Ovidrel, Endometrin = BFP!! EDD 5/26/17
I got in another bike ride this past weekend, only 5 miles, but kiddo 1 (who is almost 5) biked with me on his own bike the whole way. Would love to restart biking to work, but weather has just not been cooperative and in about 2 weeks my belly will probably be too big to comfortably bike (also I don't want to find myself at work w/ labor starting and have only my bike to get home with).
I still can't believe I have only 4 or 5 weeks left!
good luck lupincat! DD1 transitioned pretty easy to her big girl bed....but she was always a good sleeper. DD2 still wants me to sleep with her, but she coslept for a long long long time. we just made sure that the room was safe it they got up without us knowing. Their door (shared room) is right next to the stairs, so we put up a baby gate so the door was open, but they couldn't get out for safety reasons....hopefully it will be a quick transition and no big deal!!
had a MFM appointment....35+2 today...baby is measuring 7lbs6oz....37+weeks.....aside from big baby, everything looks good. They're going to up my GD meds and see if that helps slow the baby's belly growth....although my numbers have been well controlled....the EDD from the scan was DD2's birthday....I would technically be full term then, but hopefully they'll let me go until 39 weeks if things look good weeks....both girls were big and would have been 9ish lbs if we went to 40 weeks....but my providers keep commenting on how low baby is and how "engaged"...not sure if that actually means anything since both girls were evicted early....
jennyelf, I'm impressed that you and your 5 year old can bike that well. My commute to work is only 3 miles and I biked early on in my pregnancy before the weather got cold and crummy but I don't think I would attempt it again at this point. Not to mention that the weather is still crummy in April.
Plus my office is at the bottom of two giant hills on either side and it was hard to bike up not pregnant. I don't know that I would be able to breathe at all attempting to bike up that hill at this point. Eek.
chknma, PirateCat, I've been biking for the past 3 years about 2,000 miles a year or so, most of them towing kiddo1 25 miles a day to and from work/daycare. I got really strong Kiddo learned to bike last year and has really taken to it, I'm actually impressed he can do a 5 mile ride! I have an upright hybrid bike, so that makes it a lot easier to sit on it. Honestly I'm happier on it than I am walking!
With kiddo1, commuted until week 13, stopped for the winter, then restarted biking on weekends and after work at around week 28 (it was a really light winter). This time around I commuted up to week 20 (late start to winter this year), and restarted biking on weekends at week 30. But the weather has been really crappy and it's been hard to get much biking in. OB and MW say as long as I feel good and promise to stay off of main roads and wear a helmet, there's no reason to stop. I also have a bike trail about 2 blocks from my house, so all my biking now is on paved trail rather than roads.
I think we're finally going to bite the bullet and transistion DS to his new bed this weekend, pending that his bedding gets delivered this week.
I can't tell if we're stupid for doing this or not since he's such a good sleeper already.....but we really didn't want to buy a second crib.
How old is your DS? I contemplated the same thing for my DS#2....but he isn't even quite 18 months old yet, so I fear I would REALLY regret putting him in a big boy bed right now when I kept DS#1 in a crib until he turned 3. I ended up buying a cheaper crib (I think I spent about $160)....but I still am wondering if I should have just gotten a big boy bed. Ugg. I swear DS2 will prob start climbing out of the crib as soon as I put him in it and then I will be stuck buying a bigger bed anyway...guess I can just convert the crib to a toddler bed, but still! lol

lupincat, good luck with the bed transition. DD was a good sleeper in her crib and she still transitioned well to the bed. There were tears the first night because she "didn't want to be a big girl" but she still slept well. And she actually wouldn't get out of bed on her own for the first few months. Only recently did she start coming out on her own in the morning.
My acid reflux has been acting up really bad in the past 2 days and I just don't feel like eating. I'm hungry but nothing sounds good. Only 4 more weeks of this, thankfully. I'm hoping all of my pregnancy symptoms disappear immediately after birth like they did with DD.
I hike quiet a bit, and thought that was pretty good, the biking is super impressive. I tried to bike the other day with my kids, and the second I sat on the seat a horrible shooting pain from baby's head and seat all wedged up in there haha!
I am a bit worried because honest to goodness movement is getting uncomfortable, and he has 5 more weeks till he is out!! He will lift some body part and push it out, and just hold it there, and it feels like he is going to burst through the skin!! Strong kid already, if I have him when I had my 2nd, and 3rd it will be 3 weeks, hoping for that, but not holding my breath.
jennyelf I'm impressed your 5 year old can go 5 miles. My 4 year old gets tired going around the block!
lupincat - we had a similar experience to sleepymonkey in that when we transitioned DS, he wouldn't even get out of bed on his own, except the first night but he just ended up curled on the floor by his crib. Good luck!
I'm on day 2 of being off work. It feels weird but I enjoy being able to sleep in. I'm starting to feel human again. I have a massage booked for tonight so hopefully that'll help with the aches and pains.
sagen I'm with you on painful movements, but I have 8~ weeks to go. Sometimes he stretches out and holds the position for a few seconds and it's so painful it almost makes me nauseated!

jennyelf Super impressed you can still ride the bike! I don't think I could balance on a bike well right now, lol.
sleepymonkey Ugh, acid reflux is awful. I hope it goes away soon! Mine's been getting worse too and has kept me up a couple of times.
Today I am going to the fire department so they can check the car seat in my car, and tomorrow I'll be taking MH's car to them. I really should do some weeding as well, but I really don't want to. I'll probably spend the rest of the day reading and scrapbooking, I need to get started on DS2's baby book.

Same here! It's so uncomfortable, I'm really not sure where he's going to go for the next 7~ weeks!
I was in the break room getting water this morning and a lady walked in and said oh, you're still here?!? I was like yea I've got about 7 weeks left. She says 7weeks?!? Really?!? Then she says well maybe he'll be early. Come on lady don't wish a premie on anyone! Also I thought I looked cute today and not nearly as huge as I've been feeling so that was a bummer.

So I bit the bullet and bought a good amount more maternity clothes today. This should do it though. I desperately needed t-shirts and new yoga pants. The good thing is I definitely plan on having another kid so the clothes will get use!

lupincat GL with the bed transition. We transitioned DS in January and it was tough for a few days, but he sleeps pretty good now...although sometimes he sleeps on the floor lol.

txcatlady, I'm sure you look beautiful today - whatever to the stupid comments!
chknma, hell no to that comment. I would've just shot a dirty look and walked away.
N40Mom, sorry you're suffering, too. The reflux is such a killer and no meds help me much anymore. Yesterday when it was really bad, I ate a turkey and provolone sandwich with lettuce and mayo only and was miserable for a few hours. I'm basically putting myself on a bland diet for the next 4 weeks to try to minimize the discomfort. Lots of yogurt and milk because that seems to help some. And I may go back to drinking protein drinks just to try to feel full without actually eating food.
