Hey ladies. I haven't been around for a bit, Busy w the boys (turned 2 in feb) and set to deliver baby number 3 in 5 weeks, but I'm popping in bc I need your expertise.
Long story short: I think my local twin group is being catfished, or scammed, or possibly put in a dangerous spot..
We had a new member join last night who claims to be 35 weeks with 2 sets of Id twins, so quads. She's also legally blind and lost her H suddenly after they conceived naturally. She had a guide dog and a neighbor accompany her to the meeting.
I did not get the chance to socialize with her but a few members brought forward their concerns privately. We have an online system in which group members can access personal info such as addresses and contact numbers. We've shut that down for now.
Basically, I want to hear that her story while technically possible, would be extremely rare esp for not using fert treatments.
Wow crazy. That does sound cat fishy. The neighbor and guide dog though, that makes me scratch my head cuz that's some extra effort to fake. Can you do some digging to see if her husband actually died? Anything weird come up when you google her name (I'd still wonder if it's her real name...).
I'd bet if a lot of folks are getting a cat fish or "something is off" vibe, then something is probably off.
I mean I guess the group could see how it plays out, cuz it should unravel in a week or two. If pregnant with quads, she should have already had them by 35 weeks. And would probably be on hospital bed rest, right?

The only quads I know personally were born at 28 weeks. And from EVERYTHING you can find online, quads WILL NOT go to 35 weeks...I mean, that's a feat for twins, a huge hurdle for triplets so I can't imagine quads.
My H has a coworker that recently had quads, and IIRC she went to 33-34 weeks which was considered amazing for quads. Def didn't go to 35. And was on hospital bedrest where she was only allowed one 15 minute walk a day by week 28/29. To my knowledge, all of the above was due to it being quads, not any other big issues though...
ETA- I reread some of the local articles about the local quad family, and there's a quote from her dr stating that he's had quads go to 36 weeks but it's pretty rare. And this mom apparently did have some preterm contractions at 28 weeks resulting in the hospital bedrest. But still, seems like that's par for the course for a quad pregnancy.
That's been my experience as well. We've done some digging and it's not good..
She has no FB page but her guide dog does and it's empty.
She claims to work for the IT company that invented Xbox..(spoiler alert, it's not Microsoft who in fact did invent Xbox)
She has 3 baby registries all under different names, all with different due dates. One registry has 17 of 46 items purchased, other registries have 1 to 4 items total.
Her husband died 8 months ago, suddenly and did not know she was expecting.
She did not find out about quads until late in pregnancy, they did not see them in first couple of ultrasounds.
For now we've locked down our online addy system so she can't access any confidential info..still doing more digging.

So I do know one person who had naturally conceived quads; ironically she found out she was pregnant with them at her appointment to get her tubes tied.
So that being said the longest my doctors would even let me carry was 36 weeks with triplets so I can't imagine they would allow quads to even go to 35 weeks. I mean all signs the day before my water broke were showing that I could probably make the 36 mark outside of that with the three, but if there had been another I can't imagine I could have even reached the 34 that I did.
Also I was never on bedrest except for bleed scare days in first trimester and a few days right after being in the car accident so it could potentially be feasible for them not to be on bedrest.
If everyone feels it seems fishy then I would say keeping things a bit more closed is definitely the way to go until her story can truly be verified cause it does seem incredibly unlikely.

With more and more doctors pushing for twin delivery at 37 weeks, I just can't imagine a quad pregnancy going to 35. Being blind and 35w pregnant with quads, why the F would you be showing up to a meeting? Thats just a lot of effort... Also, I don't understand how they "missed" quads in the first couple of ultrasounds (and why did she have so many if they didn't know she was high risk?) And her husband died 8 months ago... so 32 weeks. So she conceived 3 weeks before he passed? That seems fishy to me, especially with a spontaneous pregnancy, the dating wouldn't be THAT accurate.... it just all sounds sketchy.
I *did* have multiple registries with different due dates on them- My first one had my actual due date but my second had a date closer to 36 weeks. I forget why I did that. And MH and I have different last names, so when we put together a registry for his people (with a due date of when the twins were 3m old because thats when that shower was, it was weird), we did put me down with his last name. So there is at least one part that *could* be legit?
According to an article on the Daily Mail website, the chance if two sets of ID twins in a single, non-IVF pregnancy it 1 in 70 million. (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2280953/Texas-woman-TWO-sets-identical-twins-day--beating-odds-70-million.html)
Her story is extremely unlikely. Alternate possibilities are mental illness or scamming for money/attention/whatever.
Yeaaaah this seems so unlikely that her story is true! Remember the Gardner quads? They had two sets of identical twins but it was via IVF and still a one in a million chance. And she delivered at 29wks (http://people.com/celebrity/gardner-quadruplets-tyson-gardner-and-ashley-gardner-take-home-daughters/).
I think you all were wise to restrict your information for a while and wait this out. Let us know what happens!

Yeah so..we've determined she's a pathological liar. We have outside sources verifying info. We still don't know for sure that's she's not pregnant, but we feel like she's setting us up for potetntial losses of some or all of the babies..
Still restricting her access and treading carefully.

My Dr would not let me go past 35 weeks with triplets so that doesn't sound right. Showing up with a guide dog & neighbor seems very elaborate but yeah that part is suspicious for sure.
