This has been a week from hell - 2 month shots, DD1 with upper respiratory virus that requires a nebulizer treatment, DD2 catches cold from DD1 (so I take her in because of DD1's virus), 1st post partum period and now DS is coughing/congested. I was at the pediatrician's office 3 times this week. Wine me!
Poor babies and poor mama! You need to kick your feet up and relax ASAP!

I've been playing a riveting game of gas, thrush or growth spurt alllllll evening because at 4 weeks and on day 8 of antibiotics it really could be any of the 3. She only wanted to nurse tonight, but would quit after about 5 minutes.
I hope I get my chill baby back sometime next week. I think she's out of sorts after last night too since her last feeding before "bed" happened about an hour and a half later than normal.
@priss08 wowsers! Never seen the show, but that had to be a lot to process. Have you kept in touch with your first husband?
Yes. She has...not had an easy go of things. She doesn't live in a very LGBTQ state so that has made things even worse for her. I hope she gets out eventually.
5ish hours of feeding with no more than 10 minute breaks and baby girl is finally out. My poor boobs. Stuffing my face with food and water because I'm starving.

Yikes. Eat and drink all you want, then get some sleep!

A lot of you write about how your newborn wants to be held all the time. My 6 week old seems to care less about who is holding her. At times, she seems happier in baby holding devices. (And by "at times," I mean most of the time) The only time I am positive she knows who I am is when she calms down to my voice right before she eats.
I don't want to borrow trouble, but my baby is so chill I wonder if something is wrong w me as a mom, or her. Last night she was actually happy when I was holding her, so I stayed up 3 hours just holding her bc she usually doesn't seem comfy when I'm holding her.

glb30 I did not like to be held as a baby. I have heard this my whole life. I wanted to look around and see everything. I was also colicky, but even when that cleared up I was happier to be in the middle of a room, watching everything.
Turns out I'm still like that. I love watching people. I'm affectionate but not cuddly.
I have an older brother, but otherwise my mom said she probably would've thought I was broken or she was broken or something was broken. Try not to worry about it - babies are people, too. Some babies are independent from the jump (as much as a baby can be, anyway.)

kristhegirl you always have such great advice or anecdotes for everyone on this board. I feel better just having read your response. I've been describing DD as "independent" and "social." She loves being in the middle of a loud restaurant looking at all the people from her infant seat...

Yes! My mom would put me in a bouncy seat ON THE COUNTER so I could see better. Don't do that. That is not safe.

glb30 love tit because my son was like that, he was happy in all the baby holding devices and slept great in his bassinet then crib with no problem. I was the one looking to hold him because he never "asked" to be held. Now as a toddler he's very independent, social and so caring in his own way. Agree w pp babies are all different little ppl.
glb30 Omg. I have no words. I would have been livid. And I would never leave my newborn with them again. That is ridiculous. You rold him a feeding was needed soon. How can they not know when a baby is hungry?
@priss08b I found the first 2 seasons fully but season 3 I found to be really boring.
Baby is still not BFing. Uh. Day 3 tomorrow after his tongue tie snip, I hope he will get it soon. I got back to the breastfeeding clinic on Tuesday.
glb30 I think all babies are different like what others have said. I was a cuddly baby but my brother from day one in the hospital was not cuddly and very independent. My mom always says how he wouldn't settle in anyone's arms and just wanted to be on the move. Mainly in his jolly jumper. He ended up walking at 9 months and talking full sentences at 12 months.
