Hugs to all those dealing with toddlers as well. I've resorted to letting mine watch more tv than he ever has in his life. He eventually plays while watching so it makes me feel a little better when that happens. But it's either he watch tv or he does shit around the house that makes me yell. I choose to minimize the yelling.
My toddler is also getting much more screen time than usual. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do!
I mean, how did mothers survive this phase without it? I refer to that time as the dark ages.
I always think this! I mean shouldn't a wheel chair fit just fine too? So odd
What's most puzzling to me is how I could barely fit a stroller through the aisles at our local Carter's and The Children's Place stores. We were constantly getting stuck or knocking hangers off the racks every time we tried to shop there.
Yes! CARTer's has no carts, which is completely annoying.
+1 to screen time. Most of the time at home is spent rotating between "elmo!" (sesame street), "nemo!" (finding dory), "trains!" (thomas), and "why!" (super why). Parent of the year right here. But we do spend time playing with no tv too, promise...fortunately our local library has a fantastic kids room to play in and she never seems to get sick of it.
kaits8 thank you for that, it really does make me feel better about it knowing I'm not the only one. I also enjoyed a drink tonight which was amazing. Hugs caer, this raising kids of multiple ages is not easy!
+whatever to hours of tv over here. We try to at least limit it to the weekends but by Tuesday we were watching multiple movies. Oh well, I'm sure it will get better.
My FIL and DW are re-doing our kitchen counters. We live in an older cheap condo so we are just doing tile but it's taking a lot longer than expected (of course). Not easy with the toddlers and he baby!
I am losing my patience terribly with one of my twins. Her behavior just keeps getting worse and I feel like smacking her (I wouldn't actually). Ugh. I don't want to even be around her and I feel like a terrible mother. Plus it's my wife's birthday and I haven't done hardly anything so I suck in that department too
I want to smack my toddler too so you're not alone (of course I wouldn't either). I feel even worse because while she's having tantrums and being terrible some of the time, the rest of the time she just really wants to play (ie during nap time she would not nap but was happy as a clam. Meanwhile I'm snapping at her while crying) and I want nothing to do with her. I'm exhausted, H is exhausted (& him being tired and/or unhappy makes me more unhappy) and dd1 is all over me. I just keep reminding myself that plenty of people go on to have even more kids so it can't be awful forever, right? Hugs to you and major props for doing this with twins, I don't know how you do it!
Solidarity! We had an awful couple of days with DD1 (she will be 4 next month). She refused to go to bed last night. Like major screaming, temper tantrums, etc until 11pm. So I spent a ton of time googling 4 year old sleep regression, adjustment to new siblings etc. it's so hard. And so hard on the big kids.
Man. I'm tired. Haven't really slept more than an hour or 2 in a row since Monday night. The baby is doing well and so is dd1 (aside from some tantrums during nap/ bedtime).
Nursing dd2 a little early with the hope we can both pass out soon.
Hope everyone is doing well. I read and titted but i don't feel like i really comprehended what i read.
I am on the verge of clawing at my skin. I'm really nervous to take any Benadryl but holy shit this is out of control.
When I went in for T's 2 week appointment I got sheet with medicine that is safe to take while BFing. Benadryl was on it! Obviously only do what makes you feel comfortable with but I wouldn't worry about Benadryl. Sudafed is bad for BFing.

SIL said it may dry me up but I could try a 1/2 dose. I need to research.

Huh, that's strange. I too apparently should do more research

I've also got the issue of being home alone with both kids until 8am at least. Most women haven't had an issue taking it for a couple days. I may just take one pill and see what happens. I'm getting reeeeal tired of not sleeping at night while my newborn is lol.

Logs BF sessions all day. Notices pattern that he's been eating almost every hour on the hour. Nurses at 10:25pm for 10 minutes. Dinks around on the internet, wastes time, and realizes it's not worth trying to get a nap because he'll be ready to eat soon anyway.

About 30 min after I get DS down and fall asleep the damn tornado sirens start going off. It isn't even raining here, definitely no tornados. Turns out they are malfunctioning across the city and they are having to shut them off manually. This is at midnight, and in Dallas; they said it could take up to 3 hours. Geeze.
Dd2 just slept a 3 hour stretch and a 4 hour stretch (should have been a 3 hour but I slept through my alarm)! And I had to wake her both times to eat. Yesterday was the first really rough day, exhaustion-wise, for H and I so thanks baby!
We have newborn photos this morning, which means I need to actually get ready, get the girls both looking nice, and get us out of the house by 9am. Gonna be a busy busy morning. Fortunately the rest of the day is wide open and supposed to be nice out so hopefully we can relax.
Also, I can't believe this time last week I was in labor. Now I have a week old baby. Who ever decided H and I are responsible enough to raise 2 amazing children!?
Well the photographer is sick..so that's a bummer. Rescheduled for Thursday and hoping she is healthy by then because we're already quickly leaving the brand new newborn phase. At least I'm up and showered I guess..now we just have to find something to do!
I'm exhausted. H and I went to a wedding last night. My parents watched the baby. We had a good time, and it was nice to get time around adults and spend time with h. But dang it messed with our somewhat schedule, and it was way more activity than usual for me. Now I'm exhausted and can't wait for little man to finish eating so I can attempt to go back to bed. (At least if he's awake, h is here to watch him. Hoping I can sneak in another hour or two of sleep.)
