All kids are different, I'm sure all of you can see things in your kid(s) that they naturally excel at or are interested in. Similarly, there are areas or disinterest or delayed development.
How do you decide when it's appropriate to encourage them to be individuals and when is it best to try to help them conform to be more like average/typical kids?
Welp, I jinxed us a few weeks back when I said B had never thrown up/had a stomach bug.
He's had a little cold this week but then last night felt feverish and only picked at dinner. As he was getting into bed, he threw up. And then again, just as we got clean sheets on the bed. And then two more times MOTN, and once this morning. 🤢
Fortunately his cue is to start crying hysterically, so we have time to get him to the bathroom or over a bucket.
So he's currently napping on the couch; he was so bummed to miss soccer. I'm supposed to be meeting a friend for lunch but am wondering if I should go. DH and MIL are capable and I can get C out for a bit, so maybe I should.
Morning all! I'm laying in bed and hoping dh is making coffee and breakfast. We are having so much fun with my sister and her family. Last night we stayed up late drinking beer and playing cranium. We're heading out camping today until Monday. The weather is suppose to be gorgeous, in the high 80's low 90's and the lake is super full. Should be interesting camping with 7 kids, but I'm excited. I probably won't be able to post much, but I'll send snaps!!
I hope B's illness is short lived LizInFL. Poor guy.
Everyone is still asleep in my house. I'm sipping on my coffee and will start getting ready to go to the air show at the AFB. MH has spring practice, so it will be just me and M. I look forward to our fun outings with just us two before baby brother arrives. And I have to stop now because the emotions are coming...

Sorry! It was our first time dealing too. Must have been the weekend for it
Good morning! SIL and I ran the Redneck 5K this morning. I was the second place girl finisher. Now I am in official beer drinking mode watching the "log loading competition", trying to decide if I want to try it or not. This is what we are talking about here. You have to move the logs from one circle to another and have them standing up on end.
Morning! Running group was brutal this morning. Now I am cuddling on the couch with Col and we're going to a joint Yale/Harvard vs. Cambridge/Oxford track meet later. One of the guys in my running group invited all of us, his son runs for Yale. DH is staying home with Chase so Colin is excited for some one-on-one time and so am I. And it's a gorgeous day, which makes it even better.
Well, it turns out this log loading thing is a lot harder than it looks. Also, it isn't just a circle you have to put the logs in, but individual little squares. They kicked me off after I moved 2 of the 4 logs. 😂😂 I'm back to drinking mode now.
The Beard and I riding in the back of the side by side (ATV for the non-rednecks)
C is sleeping, she has the snot and has been sort of hating life recently. Hopefully she wakes up in a better frame of mind. M is eating more candy and gearing up for a day of carny rides and more sugar. Basically, this is the best day of her life.
Good morning from my lounge poolside. My flight got in an hour early last night and we ended up renting a car because a car for the whole weekend was cheaper than 1 Uber ride. We went straight to In and Out Burger. We just had breakfast with the groom and it was super sweet how excited he is for later. Now I'm getting some sun before the festivities begin.
I ended up having a 7 hour play date with my mom friends. Was fun but it's dh's turn to go out tonight. We may have consumed many many bottles of prosecco 😬
calishove I'm not sure I understand completely, what makes you think V is not like other kids?
Dude has his quirks, too, drumming on everything and talking about bands and musicians that his peers have never heard of. But I assume all kids must have some things they get hyper focused on at times.
So let's say your child is painting in school (painting is just a random example of any work). Your child is painting differently from all other children. He is still painting and participating without being disruptive. The teacher insists your child is being "rigid" for wanting to do this activity his own way.
Isn't it the teacher who is being "rigid" for wanting all children to paint in exactly the same way?
