Speaking of potty training, has anyone started thinking about it? With LO#2 on the way I'm thinking the faster I get LO out of diapers the better lol. I know someone said they set their LO on the toilet and he goes. I'm thinking about getting a seat that sits on ours and see what he thinks? Anyone else?
Sorry, I've been so busy lately. We did a bit of EC, but I'm not really sure what we did - lol! I didn't even know EC was a thing until we had been doing it for a while. We just paid attention to her faces when she would poop and started putting her on the toilet. Slowly she started making the face before she pooped. Every once in a while, she will pee on the toilet, and we're trying to encourage it.
It doesn't always work. Yesterday, I had her in the bathroom, naked, she refused to sit on the toilet, but peed on the floor twice. So we have good days and bad days.
I'm not sure when she'll actually PT, we're not really pushing it.
Re: potty training-- please don't keep a little potty in your living room. My sister left her kid's in the living room and wouldn't empty it right away after they'd pee. So gross.

hahaha, oh no! Wouldn't that teach them to go in the living room?
Potty training baffles me. I did tell Cadence the other day that I was going to go potty so she ran ahead of me and lifted the toilet lid, then pointed to the toilet paper. uh....thanks?
Guys-- 3dewdrops posted on TB asking where we all were. I PM'd her the address for this board, so I hope she makes it over here. If anyone has contact with her on FB or anything, maybe reach out to her there too. I don't know if someone was her labor buddy or something similar.
Also, there was a random post from someone. I think she was posting in the wrong board... but should I PM her our address too? I was confused on that one. I may direct her here, but to the TTCAL board, since that was the nature of her question.

I have seen pics on FB of people potty training in the living room if they are using that "three day method" where the kid just stays on the potty all day every day for three days. Sounds so weird to me and maybe there is more to it, but that's how it was explained to me.

I just googled "When to potty train" the answer is apparently:
Boys tend to be ready a few months later than girls. Most parents start the training when their children are between two years and three years old. But there's no official age, and you needn't potty train your toddler at all if you don't want to.
I highlighted the important part. We NEVER have to potty train if we don't want to. Yay!!! Diapers 4 Lyfe!!!
I'm so scared of potty training! I potty trained lots of kiddos at the daycare that I worked at, but for some reason potty training Layla seems so daunting. She has been walking to the changing table for months now when we say it's time to change pants though, so hopefully that is a good sign. We will probably wait till she shows actual interest before starting or try around 2.
Re: Ash Wednesday I feel super guilty that I'm not going to Mass tonight, but I just can't handle fighting Layla through church tonight after the day I've had.
Is there such thing as walking/running regression? Here lately Layla has been just wiping out when she's walking or running for no reason. She used to be a lot better about it, but now is just tripping herself all the time. Is this a thing or is she just a klutz?

Hannah was falling a lot when she had an ear infection. Hopefully it's nothing like that.

Dang it, I wondered about that. Yesterday she kept sticking her finger in her ear but today she seems normal. I really hope it's not another EI.

My kid is getting way too cocky about his walking/running. He basically thinks he can come in first at the Boston marathon the way he's cruising. He falls. A lot.
Seriously, I've only had all 4 kids home for 3 1/2 hours & I want to drink. My sister is a saint for being able to put up with this everyday. I would probably be crying in the corner on a daily basis.
I need wine.
Does your sister drink? Could you have a glass of wine together???
mskatiep if there is a walking/running regression we are in it too. V is tripping over her own feet. I have noticed she's trying to go a lot faster and falls happen more frequently before nap or bed, so her being tired could have something to do with it.
We had our first fall tonight where a tooth cut her lip - it's so sad! She only cried for a few minutes but her lip is bruised and swollen. The worst part is I was literally right next to her but it happened so fast I couldn't catch her. I feel like shit.

Oh don't beat yourself up! They are so fast sometimes!
RE forks - we have introduced one but she just tosses it on the floor. I have put food on it and tried to hand it to her or guide it to her mouth bit she just pulls the food off with her other hand. We aren't ready yet.
Layla can do a fork if I poke the food for her, but then she always tries to keep it and hold it in one hand while she uses the other. We have a long way to go.
I've been MIA all day –my lack of voice has turned into a full-blown cold. MH has it, too. We are both just coughing, snarfaly messes. Somehow, our daughter is still healthy. I don't have high hopes for her.
I do try to give Josie a fork or spoon, but, oh my God, she is just the messiest eater when she tries to feed herself with a utensil.
As for the potty training front, I would like to try something this summer, but I'm not even thinking about it yet.

I just caught up. I bought H a potty at target about a month ago because she had so much interest in going into the bathroom. For the first week or so she would sit on it as I sat on mine and I thought, foolishly, this potty training might be easy. hahaha. She now is only interested in standing IN the potty. So that's not happening anytime soon. I did skip getting one with a "pee guard" they market to boys. It seemed like she might have trouble getting on and off and we don't need it. I'll spend 20 bucks on a boy version if I ever need it.
@tgrimes, glad you are helping out your sister and enjoying time together too! That's so special.
No updates on me today. H has wicked diarrhea, so I can't send her to DC tomorrow. At this rate I might get fired before 2.0 arrives based on the amount of time I've taken off since January 1st. Awesome.

I am cracking up at all of the potty training talk. I'm so bitter.
But y'all let me know how it goes for you! I'll be here. Wine in hand, and with a child who I won't sit on a toilet until she walks up to me and verbally tells me, "mom, I'm ready to crap on the toilet."
Hi! We're all still sick. A is mostly better but we're still on breathing treatments several times a day. I think I have an ear infection now. Pete is working at home because his office told him to leave since he sounded so terrible. How can a cold last this long?
tgrimes1980 I'm glad you made it safely. How thrilled was your sister to see you there?
Forks, I offer one at dinner each day but he doesn't use it much. He mostly does just a bite or two, while also using his free hand to shovel food in as quickly as possible. Then the fork is thrown to the ground, he pretends it was an accident and tells me uh-oh, I ignore it and encourage him to keep eating with his hands.
I dread potty training. That said, we do have a little potty seat that goes on our toilet and I put him on it before bath, and ask him if he has to pee. He's never gone in the toilet yet, I just want him to get used to the idea of sitting on it. Diaper changes are still a nightmare. He runs to the bottom of the stairs and says, "Up" to tell me he has a dirty diaper, so I guess he's trying to communicate that he is dirty. That's hit or miss though, there are still plenty of times I find a dirty diaper that he hasn't told us about. And when he does indicate he is ready to be changed that doesn't mean he doesn't fight it tooth and nail once he's on his changing table...
