Yeah I knew the HBO one had changed but I'm watching it on PBS.
I thought the agreement when PBS sold sesame street was that new shows would air on HBO first, but PBS would get them a few months later.
Ah. I didn't know that but yes I guess we're getting them now... I will be complaining along with th3stryck3r and ampaints. 😂 but really just 😢 I loved sesame Street growing up
2 parenting questions. 1) are you guys washing your kids hands before meals etc? I may wipe them down but I haven't set up the sinks for him to do it either by himself or with my help. My friend has though and has been doing it for months... Are we supposed to be doing this? Or is she doing the most montessori style?
2) we're thinking of maybe getting a tablet for w so he leaves my phone alone but can still play alphabet games and stuff. Does anyone else do this and if so do you have any recommendations for something they can't break?

I think your friend is doing the most. I figure a few dirt germs are good for kids. :-)
Also, I know they don't wash all the toddler's hands right before every meal at our daycare. They do wash their hands after diaper changes/ potty attempts, and after eating, which I try to do too.
When we were in Gatlinburg and took M to urgent care, as the doctor was leaving the room for the last time he offered to pray with us, said he likes to offer that to ask his patients. Our faces must have said it all because he just said okay I'll pray for him.
I'm not shocked about this, and appreciate that he didn't press the point, but i really wish I could have seen my face. I have very little ability to hide what I'm thinking/ feeling.

And the new Mr. Noodle is definitely creepy. And the new letter and number of the day songs are lame. I tweet to Sesame Street about it on the regular. My tweets are about politics and Sesame Street.
This weekend, P did start shaking when they say, "Shake Shake Shake" during the new number of the day song. It's definitely not as good as the stomps though. And I hate that they don't count out the number!
packmomma, we do wash his hands. They do it at his montessori daycare and I think it's good to get him to practice at home too. That being said, as long as the hands are clean, I wouldn't worry about. I don't think they have to learn NOW to wash their hands, you know what I mean. Sometimes I wipe too, just because we don't have a tall enough stool for him to wash and it's hard to lift him up and wash his hands.
This is our problem. Washing his hands just gets water everywhere and he sees it as a game. U know montessori focuses on building independence at a young age so I didn't know if her practice was more related to montessori style or if I was supposed to already have these things set up at home. Sometimes I think I'm not giving him enough challenges because he still seems so little but then I get surprised when he can do things like climb stools and drink out of regular cups etc.
Fuck me. W just fell off the stool right onto his back and slammed his head on the hard ass floor. I think when he naps it will be on me so I can watch him. He was screaming for a while. At least he was able to be distracted by TV. That's a good sign right?
RE Sesame Street - I like Mr. Noodle - you all can shut your mouth. (except i haven't seen the new guy. We also are fans of Abby's flying fairy school. But honestly, we haven't watched SS in like 1.5 years - it just vanished off the channel it was playing on.
packmomma, I don't wash hands all the time - only if i I remember. But I make them wash hands after playing outside, after going to the bathroom/diaper change and they wash hands at school all the time.
We just bought A a tablet for Christmas - it's the Nabi. It has a parent mode and a kid mode so you can regulate what the child gets to do. Honestly, A plays mostly in parent mode because we are too lazy to set up youtube for her on the child mode. But it's hers, she does educational stuff on it and only gets to use it at special times, like after dinner for an hour or when we are out and we need her to be occupied doing something (aka distracted and not whining).
packmomma, I give DS's hands a wipe off with a baby wipe, but not actual hand washing yet. And for the tablet, we are getting him an Amazon fire tablet for kids. DD loves her and he's always trying to take it from her.
packmomma, eyes dilated? vomiting? how's he acting? can he follow your finger with his eyes?
If you think it was a pretty freaking hard hit i'd call the doctor and ask what exactly to watch for.
It was a hard hit but his pupils are reactive and he's not vomiting. I'm calling jic. It was from the second step of a stool and on the back of his head.
Also, while he was with h yesterday he fell and hit the front of his forehead twice on the fucking tile. H felt so bad. I'm going to just pad my whole house.
Nurse just called back and said as long as he's acting normally I can out him down for a nap but to wake him every hour. Soooo I'm just going to have him nap on me so I can nurse him back down because otherwise he just won't get a nap today.

Hand washing... when I remember. I try to do it after being outside. When s1 was in daycare I know they washed hands before meals and after going to the bathroom.

Now you all have me questioning why my expensive ass daycare doesn't do more hand washing. I have no idea if they wash before lunch and snack, although I know they was after, but I have never seen them wash before breakfast. P gets there, takes her coat off, sits at the little table and they put something to eat in front of her. But her hands don't get germy on the walk over so I never questioned it.

th3stryck3r, part of the preschool drop off routine is washing hands before touching anything. Kids are gross.
I'm really forgetful about making the boys wash their hands at home. It's amazing they don't all have worms.
packmomma, heck no to the Montessori sink set up. A would play with the water all day long. I have a step stool for the older two but no faucet extenders or anything. Just one more thing to pull off and use as a weapon against brothers and the cat. I still help #2 wash his hands when it's something messy (like dipping his hands into a tub of aquaphor).
I work for the state (a public university) and Good Friday is not a set holiday, but the governor usually will declare it one the day before or announce it as a half day the morning of.
We get everything else under the sun though. Texas Independence Day, confederate war heroes day, San Jacinto Day, emancipation day, etc.
I have literally never heard of any of those holidays.
oh and every time the kids change classrooms at dc they wash hands. so we drop off both kids into one room at 7 am. A changes rooms, so within a 15 min period she is required to wash her hands twice. every morning.
This big ass hornet? Was/is on the curtain next to me while W was napping. I don't know how to get it off without it flying. It's definitely alive because I watched it move while W slept. I need a redo on today. Too much bullshit today.
