lotusbee, how scary! Really glad you got to come home. Are you on strict bed rest now at home? Hope those contractions stay away!
therealbug, Just replied to you over on PAIF but still sending hugs your way over here. Keep us posted!
AFM...Babies and I are doing well at 19wks 5dys. Feeling more and more movement and DH has felt a few kicks which has been really exciting! I've been trying to lay as low as possible this last week since new areas of bleeding were discovered in my uterus and in the membrane separating the placentas. Praying we have good news at the MFM appt on Friday. We have a trip planned at the end of the month to go to Arizona but as of last week it didn't sound like the Dr was going to let me fly. I'd rather be safe than sorry of course - but I'm hoping things improve so we can go. Also we are buying a house and are set to close in about a month. I'm so excited since we love the house and neighborhood! I'm also relieved that I'll have some time to "nest" before the babes arrive.
QOTW: My three fave movies are You've Got Mail (YES Crisco Salad!), The Goonies, and White Christmas (woot elmo1414!). I could watch them every day. I love reading but I think the only books I have re-read are The Catcher in the Rye, Pride & Prejudice and East of Eden.
dashuria It was definitely scary and most unexpected! I'm just hanging at home today and toddler is at DC, but my follow up is tomorrow and I have a feeling they are going to say I can resume activities since it was the UTI that was the culprit!
Let us know how Friday goes! Fingers crossed for good news and trip to AZ!
lotusbee, if you end up in L&D again, they love to restrict you to bed (so less frequent bathroom trips), flat on your back and restrict your drinking water- all three of those things triggered contractions for me. My nurse and I fought the resident for HOURS on that. When they finally let me lay on my side (meant babies were unmonitored) they stopped within 15 minutes.

That was the opposite of what I had happen: they wanted me to drink a ton of water, especially when they saw I was having contractions, because dehydration causes contractions, and they wanted me to go to the bathroom as soon as I had to go because having a full bladder can cause contractions. As far as monitoring, they preferred for me to be laying on my back because it was more accurate at picking up contractions but were willing to let me lay on my side if too uncomfortable.
Since I'm before 24 weeks, they were not worried about monitoring the babies but they also said if I was further along they would not have had me stay on my back. Sounds like you just had a resident that really did not know what they were doing.

Update on me: they were able to get the contractions under control and went ahead and discharged me last night to home bedrest. They also had done on u/s to measure cranial blood flow and both A & B were within normal ranges. They will continue to monitor them for signs of hemolytic anemia. I have a follow-up with the MFM on Tuesday for another scan and more blood work on me.

Agreed! They wanted to keep me overnight because they couldn't stop contractions. As soon as I got home and in my own bed... boom. Gone.
