We're heading to the pedi today. DS had a fever last night and was so hot he was red. Our thermometer died so I couldn't get a reading, but he was on fire. He's got a runny nose, cough, and his eyes are bloodshot and keep crying and green gunk coming out. I'll make his 3 yo appt. while I'm there. I wonder if I can tentatively make the newborn appt. as well.

Guise, this baby has boosted my sales this week lol. I sent an email to let my customers know I'm officially back and I've taken 5 orders already. Of course I put a pic of C in the email, who could resist a cute baby!
He has a double EI. This is the second one in three weeks. Looks like the tubes are clogged and causing the EI's, because there's no drainage. He got put on a diff. oral, same ear drops, and I have to follow up with the ENT tomorrow.

Well at least you know he NEEDS the tubes to work... I hope they can get them unclogged. I never had that problem.

What does everybody do to get their kid to take abx? Today my child suddenly can no longer take any medication, including Tylenol or Advil. He spits it out, throws it up, refuses to take it in any way possible. I also couldn't get drops in his ears. I'm alone so there's only so much holding hands and head and trying to administer drugs that I can do at once.
I haven't had that problem yet so these are just guesses- but could you disguise it in something like an applesauce pouch or gogurt?
I tried that. He took a taste of dinner and of yogurt then refused to eat anymore of either.
My pediatrician had told me if the infant wouldn't take his amoxicillin that I could bring him back in for a shot. She said there is an antibiotic shot, you have to take them twice to get it. Maybe offer he can get a shot or take his medicine. What about juice? Soda? Idc what it is, bribe with candy. Ear drops sting less of they are warmed up in your hands first. That helps.

Babe can't take amox so not sure a shot would be an option.
I just snuck in his room and got drops in his left ear. Will sneak back in later for the right. Will try the abx when he's half asleep.
I was gonna say bribe too. Grab a scoop of ice cream or piece of candy and say if he takes the meds first he can have. Probably wouldn't work for all kids, but my boys would do anything for sweets. Hope he works better when he's sleepy, sorry sstwinklinglites.

I tried to bribe him with these cereal bars he likes. It didn't work.
My H will be here soon so hopefully when I go in the room and try to medicate him I'll have some backup.
I'll see if that's an option when I talk with the ENTs office tomorrow.
Or see if they can prescribe a better tasting antibiotic. That article mentioned several options that are better tasting, only once/ day, or only for 3 days or 5 days as an alternative.

I mix it in one of those small Dannon drinking yogurts for E, but that only works like 30 percent of the time. Other times either I or H hold her down while the other one shoots it in her mouth and tries to keep her from spitting it out.

There were four options besides amox. One we used last time and it didn't totally clear the EI, so no. One contains amox in it, so no, one is a five day dose, believed not to be sufficient to clear the double, and this one they prescribed.
