. - I combo-fed with with DS1 and am supplementing now with DS2 and am leaning towards combo-feeding long term again. Honestly, I love it and think it's the best of both worlds. The baby gets the benefits of BM and you get the convenience and reassurance of formula when you need it. I'm not discounting the benefits to exclusively breast-feeding but you also need to factor in your desires and your mental health. You should do what's best for you. I'm sorry the doctor made you feel bad.

This.
I'm kind of aghast that a pedi would push that hard.
I hate when someone holds my baby and then baby smells like perfume. I mean, thank you so much for holding them so I can have a coffee but now they need to be wiped down because I really don't like perfume except in the very smallest amounts.

. what an odd response from your pedi. I can understand needing to know breast milk or formula milk, because there are different growth charts, but other than that, it's really not her business.

. So weird! A few people have tried to convince me BF would be easier, but the doctors I go to have been supportive of the EP. We're not too far from each other, so let me know if you want the names.

Get ready for some word vomit... I was getting ready to post about being concerned I was nearing PPD territory and not just baby blues. My case manager from my health insurance called for my pp follow up call and we did the PPD screening. I was 1 point below being at risk.
My biggest hurdle right now is my self confidence and that is not anything new. I feel bonded with and am enjoying my new baby. DS is annoying me lately, but he's 3 and I don't think it's beyond a level of normal. Same for Dh, except he's not 3 he's just a man and does typical man stuff sometimes that's irritating. I'm unhappy with my job but it's not something I can just walk away from and start something new since I work with my brother so work is what it is for now.
This is how ADD is for me though. When my ADD isn't controlled my life starts spinning out of control and I feel bad about myself. So I guess I don't think it's ppd as much as I think it is unmedicated ADD. Either way I should probably call my OB tomorrow.
., I exclusively pumped for my first using an Avent hand pump.. and made it to nine months. I credit it ALL to being ridiculously stubborn.
Each child is soo different. My first was pure pumping, I didn't get the latch right and tried to back through a wall when the LC went to latch her on. Fear of child is bad. lol My second was amazing at bfing. Quit at 9 months though because the office I worked in wasn't pump friendly. The staff was fine, just no good location to do so. The twins.. some of both. This one is amazing again.
That experience to say, whatever works for this child for you, go for it, and know that it isn't predetermining things for future children if you have more.

I guess the fact that A gets both breastmilk and formula confuses her? I can definitely see why so many choose not to try to pump only. If I weren't so stubborn, the roadblocks via the form of the maternity nurses, the pediatrician, and the lack of a return call from the lactation department may have had me quit in frustration already. God knows how long I would have lasted without the knowledge from TCF and GBCN.
I pump all day and night long. My supply isn't enough. My baby gets formula to compensate when needed. It's pretty normal to suppliment with breast milk and/ or formula when there are issues with breastfeeding. I would get another doctor for sure. It really shouldn't confuse her, it's not uncommon.
So....A downed an ounce from the right boob once we gave her a shield. She wouldn't go to left side bc it was too frustrating, so we gave her 2 oz of pumped milk. She then had me pump so she could see how it went, and I got 5.5 oz and she agrees with my self diagnosis of needing a smaller size pump plate.
So, we'll keep offering it to her at home with shield, if no luck we'll pump and also offer formula if needed. LC says we may get her exclusively to breast or we may have to do combo of breast and pump. But she said while she has never quite had anyone like me who came in as established at pumping first, she thinks once A gets used to the breast it will go good.
So glad for the successful appointment with the LC! Hope it keeps getting better for you.

There are different growth charts? Good to know!
Yes! WHO is for breastfed, CDC is for formula fed, I believe.

Ds just told me he likes MIL better than me so that was nice. DD got a bottle tonight due to tball practice. I was hoping it would lessen the cluster feeding a bit and it did not. It actually made it worse.

I am pretty sure it's standard to use the WHO growth charts for all babies birth to three and CDC for 3yr + no matter BF/formula. However, it is true that BF babies tend to be a little skinnier at first then chunkier in late infancy then it all evens out later.
