Did you get a type of chair for breastfeeding / feeding / cuddling / somewhere to sit and read to your baby?
If so, what type? And why? Pros? Cons?
I want to BF and gliders seem like a good idea. DH wants one that will grow with the kid so we can sit and read to him when BF isn't a thing anymore. We want one that will lock in place so it's not a permanent rocker. We also want to be able to move it from our room in the beg to the nursery once we move the baby in there eventually.
I'm at a loss. I haven't been able to find many to test out that I've liked at two BBBs and two BRUs we've gone it.
HALP! And thanks in advance!! I'm off to bed (night shift life) but I'll be back in a few hours to respond & be thankful for any responses!
We looked at gliders but didn't love any of them. We wound up getting a La-Z-Boy rocker recliner. It was only slightly more expensive and we will be able to use it downstairs when kids are grown. My only advice is to get an electric recliner so that you can put your legs up and down in the middle of the night because the hand recliner makes quite a ruckus when you have a sleeping newborn in a quiet nursery LOL

I very highly recommend getting a glider and ottoman (even if you end up bottle feeding). My living son needed to nurse to fall asleep and so I literally spent hours in it at a time. We still use it for reading stories and he is 4. I ended up getting a dutaillier for a good price on craigslist (and just got a second one off craigslist as well). It rocks quietly, is comfortable, and has side pockets where you can stick your phone or snacks. We did not do a lot of comparison shopping, but friends have been happy with the shermag which is a bit more affordable if you are buying one new. In general, I would consider how noisy a chair is, comfort level, does it have pockets, is it easy to get up from etc. A few friends have also wanted a reclining option, but we decided that wasn't for us.

I hated my glider/ottoman it was uncomfortable to sit in long term and basically impossible to pump in. We sold ours and bought an oversized rocker recliner and it was wonderful! We slept in it the first 3 months and still use it to snuggle when he gets fussy or needs quiet time.
I tested out a few rockers, but ultimately went with a regular loveseat for the nursery. I'm really short, so having my feet on the floor to rock was impossible. I sit cross legged on the couch and just rock her that way. Still do. If it's a rough night and I'm likely to be holding her while she sleeps and I want to try to sleep myself I usually bring her out to the living room couch because it reclines. Though if her room was bigger I would have just gotten a reclining loveseat. Plus I like that she can sit next to me instead of on top of me all the time now. Especially when she wants to have five books at a time.

I got a glider from BRU, can't remember brand...has held up pretty well. It had an ottoman too, that has a pull out foot rest that keeps the ottoman from rocking. I breast fed in it, and my husband reads to rainbow 1 in it every night, who is now 2. I like the glider...but I'd also love a recliner...rocking or not, so I could fully relax and have a bit more space then the glider (I'm heavy set, feel a little cramped in the glider).

I love mine - we got a Monte Luca glider on craigslist for a fraction of the new price (though still a lot). It's very comfortable and I love it. It does not have a recliner or fix in place feature though.
It does have a high back, which we liked for comfortable late night nursing and snuggles. The arms are a little high, but were a good height with my nursing pillow and a good height now that she's a toddler.

We got a recliner with DS and we never used it. I pumped in a high backed chair (can't really 'recline' when pumping!) and with BFing I mostly did that on the couch or in my bed.
Glider/ottoman is one thing I always tell new moms to skip TBH but everyone is different!
*lurking* We got a rocker/recliner for our first rainbow. Was still using it when our second rainbow came so we got another rocker/recliner. We already had a glider and ottoman in our living room. I love the glider for daytime nursing. But love the recliner function for MOTN and when we've had to sleep with baby/toddler. We still use the recliner with the toddler for bedtime (story time and singing). Both kids have grey chairs so somewhat neutral.
I got a glider recliner from babies r us. We had to order well in advance to get the color we wanted and they said it would take about 3 months but really it was about a month. It was the best investment--I use it constantly and our DD is almost 2. I wanted the recliner rather than an ottoman because it has a much smaller footprint. Plus it looks like a normal, comfy chair.
We splurged on a super plush rocking recliner glider from BBB. It does come apart so it's pretty easy to move. I'd buy it all over again 100x over given how many times I've slept in it. Money well spent! It's still in great shape too so we'll reuse it for number 2, and indefinitely.
