I'm really hoping DD arrives today or tonight so I get my favorite midwife for delivery.
This. We were off Monday for President's Day and yesterday for snow. I'm so over being at work and people asking me when I'm going to pop! My due date is Friday but I really hope I go into labor tonight, because if I have to go through two more days at my office, I might lose it.
Also, it's going to be -2 degrees tomorrow, so I really want an excuse to not come in

Also in the tired of being at work, just want the baby to come club. I attempted to go in to work today, but the freeway was backed up due to snow, so I turned around and am working at home now. My boss and another co-worker did the same, so I was totally fine making that choice.
I obviously haven't gone yet, but pediatricians here see the baby for the first time a couple days after release from hospital. I'm actually second guessing the pediatrician I initially chose because of some negative stuff I found online. Not only that, but I have a friend who had a baby in December that goes to that pediatrician, and I asked how she liked it and she told me that she was looking for a new one already. I did a meet and greet with another pediatrician that is highly recommended by two friends and otherwise has good reviews, but it is farther away and I didn't like their office hours as well, but I think I'll end up going there. DH says we shouldn't judge the first one based on what other people say without forming our own opinion, but I just don't think I feel comfortable with them anymore. Ugh.
Our ped wants to see them within a couple of days. Since we were home really quickly with DD, we went in 2 days after birth and then at 1 week for a weight check and don't need to go back until 6w.
DS was premature and had mild jaundice so we were at the ped's office a ton in the first few weeks, like 2-3 times a week starting 2 days after discharge. It feels weird to me to not go as frequently this time!

Day 2 of no power. Thank you ice storm for knocking down all the trees and power lines. Just heard on the news it may be tomorrow at least until power is restored. We ended up having to go to a church member's house that still had power last night. I'm so thankful for their generosity but I really want my own house and be back.

We thought DH got food poisoning over the weekend. He has been feeling crappy, then this morning he feels like he is going to start throwing up again. I really hope this is food poisoning and not something contagious. LO does not need to get whatever DH has.

Moms who BF and pump: I'm starting to pump this week so I can build up a supply and I was wondering how often you pump. After every feeding? Once a day? I've just been pumping after one feeding since I am lazy right now and don't want to have to constantly wash pump parts. Just curious what others are doing. I cannot wait to introduce a bottle and let DH take over a feeding here and there. It's nice he's looking forward to feeding LO as well, though I'm sure he'll get sick of the middle of the night feedings real quick...

My dad is visiting this week and has been very helpful with cooking meals and holding LO while I shower etc., but has not been so stellar with cleaning up and packing dishwasher, etc. (which makes me seem like such an ungrateful bitch). My husband has also been working stupid hours (that vary each day) so it's made it very tough to plan life and start prepping for when I go back to work. He has made snarky comments about working 50+ hours a week and being sleep deprived... To which I want to reply, oh yeah, try working 24 hours a day and being sleep deprived!!!!! GAH!!!! sorry, had to get a little vent out. I'm just scared that once I go back to work the house will fall to shit and Charlotte won't have clean clothes! Perhaps I need a nap?!?
Normally I give up alcohol for Lent, but after nine months of giving up alcohol, I've decided to go a different direction That being said, I have no clue what to give up and Lent starts today. Maybe fast food? I'm not a fast food junkie to begin with, but it's better than giving up alcohol.

I must be the only one still VERY VERY busy at work and hoping baby stays IN at least until late this weekend. We had a delayed start (closed until 11) due to ice yesterday which totally messed up my schedule. I'm not due until friday anyway, and have had exactly 0, zip, nada, no signs of impending labor so far, so I think she will work with me and stay in.
Our pediatrician saw dd at 4 days old, but she also just saw staff pediatricians at the hospital. My sister's ped had privileges at the hospital where she delivered so he visited her son there and then had an office visit at 7 days.

When I was building a stash, I pumped once a day - right after his first feeding of the day. Your supply is usually at your highest first thing in the AM. I would nurse both sides, then pump both sides right after.
If you pump more than once a day - toss your pump parts in a ziplock baggie and put it in the fridge. Then just wash at the end of the day.

michelle142 thank you! I have been nursing both sides followed by pumping. I'll have to use the ziplock trick when I start pumping more often, especially when I go back to work

I also just realized my underwear is on inside out today... this is not the first time this happened even though I seriously tried to check/put them on right this morning.
We're out of school today for "inclement weather", which apparently means flurries and cold. Friday is my last day so I'm ok with not going in, especially since I have car rider duty in the mornings this month! We'll probably at least have a delay tomorrow, since temps and wind chill are supposed to suck.
Anyone else have a particularly itchy spot? The front of my neck has been driving me crazy for at least a week now. No rash or bumps or anything, just itching like the dickens. Almost there though, right?

AND I am trying to get my taxes together and while I haven't gotten everything right (stupid 1099-misc) it looks like I will owe the feds like $6,000 BLECK I haven't even tackled my state but that will probably be an additional $2,000.
This is what I get when 99% of my salary is untaxed. Luckily, the penalty for underpaying and not doing estimated taxes is only like $75

Last week of pregnancy my stomach was so so itchy. No amounts of lotion helped either. It was driving me crazy. And after the csection my face was horribly itchy for like 12 hours.
I don't know what I'm doing gor lent. Last year instead of giving up something, my goal was to go to church more often. This year it might be difficult to do that with a newborn. So, I'm not sure. Maybe I'll give up sleep
Well, 40 week visit has resulted in a stroll across the street to the hospital. Turns out what I thought was leaking actually is leaking. So now I'm hooked up to pitocin because I'm not really progressing and we're having a baby!

danitaec, I had horrible itching on my stomach last week accompanied by a bit of redness and bumps. I'm not sure if it was an allergic reaction, but Benadryl cream was the only thing that relieved the itching. You could also try Cortisone. Hope that helps!
