I'm so confused about crying it out. DD suddenly won't sleep in her beds. If I leave her for 2ish minutes, she'll stop crying. Is it okay to let an 8 week old cry for 2 minutes?
ETA: I couldn't take it a full 2 min, so I put her stuffed Ernie in there. After 3 silent minutes, I went in to take him out (because safe sleep practices)
She is in there social smiling at Ernie! So cute. Eyes huge though.....
I'll definitely let Max cry for two minutes - some of this is guessing about levels of crying for me, and some is "ok ok but I really need to pee, hang on."
He'll often settle better on his own if I let him. Holding him when he wants to fall asleep is often overstimulating. This might be because of his time in the NICU, and is totally different from my first. She loved being walked around while bounced.
If I lay him down and he starts crying, I'll usually pick him up quicker than if he starts grumbling after being asleep for a little while; falling asleep, he might need a little help. Staying asleep, he does better if I leave him for a couple of minutes. I'll still give him a minute or two at the beginning to settle, though, unless the crying escalates.

This is awesome advice. I don't put her down wide awake, I'll sing to her, rock her and get her drowsy looking. Lately though, she'll wake up a few minutes later. If I let THAT for, she'll usually fall back asleep, but I feel so guilty. She's doing it now!

glb30 I sometimes have to leave DD crying for like 10 minutes so I can put her brother to bed. She's only been really worked up once so far, so I've only felt really terrible that one time. The other times have been off and on crying.
My SIL had her baby! I'm an aunt!! That seems weird somehow. Like I've gotten used to the idea that I can be a mom but not that I can be an aunt? Anyway I'm excited to meet the little guy tomorrow (probably)! And this afternoon we went to an LC support group thing for a weighted feed - little guy weighs 10 lbs 4 oz at just under 5 weeks. Apparently our combo feeding is working for him!! And basically I finally feel confident mostly nursing and trusting my gut about when to give formula. I never got to this place with DD so it's pretty amazing to feel comfortable about feeding my kid in a way that involves some breastfeeding. Not sure that we'll ever stop the supplementing completely, but I'm ok with that and I'm happy with where we are today!
Went to target with my mom and brought L- first shopping outing with him! I picked out 4 nursing bras that are cute. I feel more like a human and less like a leaky sack of potatoes so that's good. I was going to snag some cute non-maternity but nursing friendly tops but I started to get really light headed so we left. I lost quite a bit of blood during delivery and I think I'm still recovering from that. Well, that and a lack of sleep and forgetting to eat probably too. I can't wait to feel healed and not so fragile.
Omg. I will not be sleeping at all tonight. His noises sound so different on the monitor and I don't trust him not to puke to turn it down any lower than it already is. Ahhhhhh!
@justinslovo maybe he was hungry the first 2 times and thats why he didn't stay sleeping? Hopefully he is knocked out for a few hours after this nursing session. Finger crossed for you.
I have no advice on the paci, my babe doesn't like them yet.
