I've had at least a beer or a glass of wine nearly every evening since being unpregnant. I had a martini the other night and it was the best.
Apparently I'm in the minority to not worry about this? It's not like I'm getting even tipsy (martini night, probably tipsy.) - but a half glass of wine is just a tease. Why bother? I'd much rather nurse a real drink, if I'm partaking.
I'm with you on this one. Each time that I've had a drink in the evenings it's been either a full beer or a full glass of wine.
caer , I'm dealing with oversupply and forceful letdown, so I'm being advised not to pump because it will make the problem worse... but I might start slowly (pump every other day one time) and introduce bottles slowly too.
Maybe you could get one of those silicone suction pumps that doesn't actually pump but just kind of gathers the leaking breast milk from the breast you're not pumping. I don't have experience with them yet but I've heard really great things about them. Some women get as much as 2 ounces from the boob they're not feeding on.

Appt went well. The NP ordered a thyroid test since those problems could present themselves as depression. I was also taking iron during my pregnancy but stopped after I had her because I thought I was done with since no one said to keep taking it and I didn't get it in the hospital. I didn't ask either. Those symptoms can also present themselves as depression too.
So I'm going back on the iron, going to call a therapist and start taking a low dose of Zoloft and see what happens.

Glad you're getting it all checked out, that way you and your doctor can treat the issue better! Hope you start to feel more like yourself.
glb30 glad your pup is okay. I think my dog is also a bit depressed.
cosmicav happy birthday to your ds! They do grow up to fast.
kaits8 I totally get being annoyed at your H. My H occasionally travels for work. It's always nice to get that little break, especially when that's what you're used to. Glad you got some alone time with just the babe.
mosdub I definitely recommend the silicone pump. I've been using one a couple times a day and get 2-3 oz total. Nothing huge but enough to slowly start a stash. And I don't feel like it's increasing or messing with my supply.
Currently in my cups - coffee and water. I've had the occasional glass of wine and beer.
I'm on team ready for a longer stretch of sleep at night. Dd often goes 4 hours between feedings, but it takes a while to get her back down so I rarely get more than 2 at a time. I'm going to cut my afternoon cup of coffee and see if that helps.
I have to call HR today about my maternity leave. Turns out I was previously given some incorrect information - which could result in me not being able to take as much time off. Fingers crossed I don't have to go back sooner than I originally intended. If I do, it could really mess things up as my H was going to take a month off after me and we have daycare set up around that.

Coffee and water, although I could use more water lately, plus I've been drinking one old Chico with dinner the last few nights. I'm ready for a real drink haha
Plans fell through w a friend to take the kids on a walk and park. I do have to go to target (going through nursing pads like crazy and DS has a diaper rash on his balls) so maybe we'll stop at the park too, we'll see
jellykat2 I just ordered a silicone cup thing, so hopefully that helps a little. Sorry about the maternity scare - I really hope it all works out so you get to take the amount of time off you thought you got. That would make my stomach drop

Not sure if it's the BCP I started or just the stress of life and being in escrow that has me super stressed and feeling off... can't wait for this to be over though
I REALLY want L to get used to the bassinet. I figured part of our failing was trying to get him to sleep in it at night when we are already exhausted, so I moved it into the computer room where we spend a lot of the day and maybe I can get him to nap in it during the day and get used to it.
He's been sleeping in it for 30 minutes. MUAH-HAHA!
daisylola11 sorry you're feeling off. I'm sure it's not one but all of the things combined that is making you feel that way - hope it balances out soon!

Neither MH or I are big drinkers, but I could definitely go for some wine or something. I haven't had a drink since 4th of July weekend, right before finding out I was pregnant. I feel weird drinking alone though...
I emailed yesterday to use my last 4 weeks of vacation time over maternity leave, and the office manager just emailed back and said I don't have vacation time bc I haven't been there a year yet. She's super nice and emailing the managing partner to see if there is anything they can do.
Fingers crossed. 4 weeks without pay is kind of a lot. (I've already gone 2 without pay since disability stopped at 6 weeks).
@amc25 aw! I'm sorry. I hope it just from overdoing it.
I really hope so. It does seem like the most likely and logical explanation for what's going on. But... I don't trust my body to not be a jerk, so getting things checked out should hopefully ease some of my anxiety about it.

jellykat2 and glb30, I hope you can get everything sorted to take your full maternity leaves.
DH is on his last week of parental leave. I'm going to miss having an extra set of hands around during the day to juggle the kids. On the plus side, doing all drop offs and pick ups for DS will really structure the day and help me build up a schedule for DD. I think the consistency will be good for us.

It sounds like most of us are enjoying beverages regularly so you can pretend you're drinking with us

+1 My husband works until 11 pm several nights a week. I totally drink on those nights. I mean, I'm not getting hammered but I have a glass of wine or a cocktail.
So with drinking.. y'all drink right after a feed? Do you have to drink it fast or what? I feel so #new
I drank wine during her feeding before bed last night. I drink during since I read alcohol peaks in the system 1/2 - 1 hr after drinking. If baby eats every 2 and you drink during, alcohol should theoretically be out or mostly out before the next time the baby eats.

That's what I read too but I am afraid I'll have to down the beer in like 30 minutes

It looks like I'll be partially going back to work. Someone referred a decent sized client to me and this never happens. Commission on 4 cars and a modest house for this area will make it worth the few hours. I'll bring DD with me since I've discovered she looooooves the carrier. We seriously got her in and out of her seat at 2 stores today back to back and she didn't make a single peep. Hopefully the same goes for work!
I havent had a postpartum drink yet, but this thread just made me ask H to pick up a bottle of prosecco while he is out running errands tonight :-) Thanks, ladies!
RE drinking. I read one drink would be fine- similar to the occasional drink during pregnancy- as long as you drink it slowly to not get a buzz. Is this wrong? I pump every 2 hours usually but push it to 3 when a drink is involved just in case. But I don't know that it even matters if it's one drink.
