I love when my plans work. When DH is home on his 4 day stretch I leave the monitor in our room while I take a shower so he can get up with ds and I don't have to be interrupted getting ready for once. Plus it gets him out of bed for the morning routine. Today though, the dog and the baby woke him up.
I am real pleased with my four legged child and the small child.
C had some epic spit up going on last night which kept us up later than normal. (It got all over him shui I changed immediately all over the new clothes.) Up feeding now. Hope there's no spit up this time.
Question about sleeping locations. C will be 7 weeks old on Tuesday. He sleeps in a bassinet in the nursery. (Way too noisy for our room!) The last two nights when I've gong in motn to feed him, he's been down by one end. Still in his back, but with his legs up against/touching the side. He was put down in the dead center of the bassinet. He was not screwing/upset at any point, so I don't think it was from anger. He is partially swaddled (arms out). Should we switch him to his crib? We haven't tried naps or anything in the crib yet. Is it time to start thinking about that?
Babies move a lot, so I wouldn't worry about it. If he's already in his nursery, though, might as well let him sleep in the crib. We moved my first out of our room and into the crib in the nursery at 8 weeks. Max is in a crib in our room and has been since the first week he was home, because he didn't like the bassinet.

B was up 4 times last night, 5 if you count this morning's 5:45am wake up. H didn't lift a finger to help or even lift his head off the pillow. Then, while nursing B this morning and trying to get him back down, I hear the toddler get up and start toddlering around. H still didn't get up. What did I do you ask? Walk into our bedroom and turn the light on. He told me that was rude. I said f*ck you.
mosdub I hope the little guy is sleeping soundly now, and your banana bread is out of the oven, and you are too!
Last night after J finished 3 oz of breast milk, I offered her some formula. She drank 2 oz. I've been worried if for some reason I can't keep pumping when I go She slept 6 hours- or about 3 more than normal. Random, or was it the formula? I don't know, but either way, it was nice! Now I'm pumping and hoping we can go back to bed. She seems pretty awake though....
I know they say formula babies don't sleep better....but.
Both my kids started sleeping 6-7 hour stretches at 5-6 weeks. Is it a coincidence? Maybe. But having a full tummy for so long probably does help.
Got a couple stretches of sleep, and banana bread is complete. L seems to be better? I don't know why he was so fussy- maybe overeating and gas?
We tried the medela bottle last night and he will try to latch but coughs and gags so I don't know if the nipple is still too fast. Ordered a tommee tippee with "0" size nipple. Reviews say it's great for BF babies so we will see
If you end up liking those and want more, I have a bunch of the nipples that I don't seem to need (DD seems least annoyed by comotomo). Our LC recommended Dr. Browns with the preemie nipple, if you're looking for super slow flow options.
Ooo thank you. I'll let you know. If we run out today maybe I'll try doc brown too
Add me to the list of H not knowing how to console the baby or just doesn't know what to do and seems intimidated as well. He's awesome with our toddler however. Toddler has also been super whiney and defiant lately. Man oh man ... Not listening and throwing crazy tantrums. Ahhhhhh
I am so mad at my H. Friday night, I took the MOTN feedings (both) so I could sleep in. I woke up and he was getting coffee, and the baby was screaming her head off, so I fed her. 20 minutes later, he is still not home. He went to do something for the car! He apologized and said he assumed the baby would wait til 9 am to eat. I explained mad, and nicely, why it is no help to watch a baby, but leave and do things when you "think" they'll sleep. We reset this goal to today. I wake up to a screaming newborn, and no husband. He went to get coffee and she was sleeping so soundly downstairs in her rock and play.
All I asked is for him to take care of her til 10 am. I honestly don't understand why this is so hard. I do this every.single.day. Want coffee? Put the baby in her car seat and walk or drive there...
@justinslovo, it's so good! I put chocolate chips and walnuts in it. Bonus is I made it in the MOTN so I kind of forgot I made it and it was a pleasant surprise this morning LOL.

Idk.
Both my kids did, too, but it does seem more common with FF babies.
sterl724 Jack is similar age and is moving around like crazy while in a swaddle and on his back. Can you try some naps to get you used to the idea of the crib? Logistically what is your stumbling point? In my mind the crib is just a bigger potentially more comfortable mattress than the bassinet. Good luck in whatever you decide.
I'm totally ok with moving him to the crib. Just didn't know what the "norm" is, if there are recommendations on when to move to the crib, if there are any hazards of moving him now, etc. He's used to sleeping in that room ashtray, so that isn't an issue. It was more just curiosity if anyone else was using the crib yet, and if there was any reason not to move him. I may try a few naps first and see what happens.

sterl724 the official recommendation is room sharing until at least 6 months, but fuck that right on its ear. I hate room sharing. It eats away my will to live. Plus, yours is already in the nursery!
Nothing in the crib with them, though - no bumpers, no toys, no pillows, no loose blankets, nothing.
kristhegirl and @justinslovo - thanks for the feedback! I knew nothing in the crib, and that 6 months in your room is recommended, but I agree...forget that part! He's too noisy, and I'd move to the nursery motn to feed anyway, so it's easier to have him in there already.
I think I'll see if he continues to move for a few more nights, and then might think about trying some naps.

I'm pretty sure they changed the recommendation recently to ONE YEAR in your room. 🙄 I bedshare so that tells you what I think of the recommendations in general. I'm team "do what's best for you and baby."

I cannot deal with unhappy DH. I know he's upset with himself, but he makes these pathetic comments that just make me want to laugh and also shake him until he snaps out of it.
I asked if he had work things he needed to get done today before we meet some friends. His response, "I never get anything done." Okay, Eeyore.

So much spit up this morning. DD had a huge one during morning nursing that got all over me and the sheets. She was covered, so I gave her a little bath. As soon as I pulled her out, she spit up all over me, the towel, and herself, so back in the bath she went.
I think she's getting overwhelmed by the crazy letdown of leftie in the morning and just taking too much in, but oh my. So much yuck.
I haven't read everything but I see a lot of rough nights last night. Add me to that group. H was at a casino for a bachelor party. Nap time (which he left for the party in the middle of) took 2 hours of screaming and me removing almost everything from dd1's room, and bedtime took another 90 mins of dd1 standing at her door screaming. I texted him and said "if ever you think about going away overnight again just assume the answer will be 'hahahaha f no' because that will be my answer". I was already angry b/c dd1 has been miserable (cold, allergies, whatever) and when we agreed he could go to the party we also agreed that if someone was sick/baby wasn't sleeping/anything I needed help with he wouldn't go. I even mentioned that and he brushed it off and went anyways (I'm sure if I told him stay home he would have but he would have just been grouchy instead of helpful). Fortunately dd1 slept through the night, because I was busy all night w/ dd2 who wouldn't sleep more than an hour.
H just got home now...dd1 is actually napping and dd2 was almost asleep when he pulled in and the f*ing dogs went nuts. So otherwise dd2 won't sleep anywhere but on me. I'm not a happy camper but hope H had fun at the casino...he's not talking to me b/c I gave him attitude when he got home (b/c his entrance woke dd2). Thinking about going to my parents with just dd2 so he can handle dd1 b/c I'm done.
I hope everyone has a better day today and tonight goes better for us all!
C FINALLY POOPED! I posted the other day that I was starting to get concerned c hadn't pooped for a few days. Got a pretty legit poop! He kept farting this morning -pretty impressive farts for a bitty baby. Then he woke up from a nap (sooner than I expected) and immediately I thought "I bet he pooped." Yup. Probably the messiest diaper I've changed so far. Guessing he needed to go!!
You know you're a mom when you get excited about poop.
