S got sent home from daycare yesterday for 3 diarrhea diapers and refusing to eat and holding her belly saying "Ow!" No fever.
Picked her up, we got home and immediately asked for food. Gave her crackers and water because I wanted to keep it light/easy to clean up.
She was fine. Took a 2.5 hour nap, woke up, asked for snack, and played happily the rest of the day. She was a little gassy, but only had one more poopy diaper yesterday and it was semi-firm.
I had a milk allergy as a child, but have grown out of that. She had milk and cereal and blueberries before she went to school, and morning snack was a granola bar and milk yesterday morning.
I talked with the nurse at the pedi yesterday and she said it wouldn't be a bad idea to try eliminating milk for the weekend and see how she does. So far, she has not pooped at all today and normally would have at least one by now.
So....if you made it this far, how did you know your child had an allergy or sensitivity?
madymoiselle, because of the distinct difference once it seems like it got out of her system yesterday. They were telling me she was inconsolable holding her belly. Once I got home with her, she was fine. She's had one bm today and it was completely normal. I don't think a stomach bug would only last the 4 hours she was at daycare yesterday.
@scoop, that's apparently what she had yesterday at school.
We are eliminating this weekend, and will see how she does next week.
sorry that's such a bummer if it is but hopefully she can avoid more tummy upsets.
The way her teachers were describing it broke my heart. They said she was just walking around holding her tummy saying "Ow!" And asking for me. If it is, we'll adjust and figure it out.

DD has a milk protein intolerance, which is slightly different but still similar. Some kids outgrow it but she hasn't seemed to yet. We started noticing it soon after birth, but she had very loose, mucous stool and would actually throw up (like, projectile spit up across the room). Even now if I let her have too much dairy, she generally has loose poop and has told me "tummy hurts!" on occasion. Is her skin rashy at all?
madymoiselle, she did great all weekend! By yesterday, she was down to one poopy diaper from her normal 4-6 poopy diapers normally. Waiting for a call back from the pedi to get her in to discuss.
blueskiessmiling, No, she doesn't have any rashes or skin problems.
Generally kids with a true allergy (vs an intolerance) get rashy outbreaks. So it may be more of an intolerance issue. I saw in the randoms you're planning to get her into the doc, good luck there!
